  1. maybe a simple enough oil change, well as much as can be changed in one go ......... might give you a smoother drive Malc
  2. and please don't forget about the non-service scheduled radiator item to prevent the gearbox going ' bang ' ......... inexpensive preventative maintenance only please rather than repair Malc
  3. my indie in Manston Kent will happily look after your Lss' ....... been doing mine for 12 years now Malc
  4. but it is a " used " item and no indication of it's work ethic ............. you might be lucky and find it's perfection in operation 😎 Malc
  5. but if you're driving in the Irish part of europe, Republic of Ireland , then you don't need to do anything ..... drive on the same side as us in the UK Malc
  6. at least another 100k miles before much else needs attention I would think Malc
  7. Excellent result ...... so how much for the fitting, balance and old tyre disposal ? Malc
  8. I know you have asked Lexus BUT have you asked Toyota ? their price might be different for the exact same item Malc
  9. whichever one you get just make sure that the Cold Cranking is the highest possible .......... I understand that this is the feature that separates the " boys from the men " when it comes to cold weather starting ! The Toyota cost seems dopey when I paid about £75 for mine ( incl vat ) only this January ( with a trade discount I didn't even ask for at the time ) and the usual 3 year battery guarantee with a conversation that advised me it will probably last at least 5 years whatever ...... the Mk3 Ls400 has a specific dimension holder that the battery has to slot into for some reason and only Toyota will do apparently Hope the right one appears soon Malc
  10. did you look on the floor for any lost pieces of eight or doubloons ? Malc
  11. I think I have been reading on here some comments that it's a common problem on certain Mercedes too AND like Lexus probably NOT acknowledged at the Centre Malc
  12. save yourself a few hundred £££ and not to change it then AND then maybe spend several thousands ££££ replacing the gearbox and the radiator, unless you write the car off because of it your choice and your decision there are posts on here about the fragility of the system that Lexus just will NOT acknowledge Malc I did a post a few months back about a chap I met locally who had suffered the same fate with his Ls430 and then bought a Ls460 and thought ~ " it cannot happen again " well, it did and cost him £3000 ( F16LEX ) or summat
  13. my local Toyota one is just 100 yds from the Lexus Main Dealer ....... and I remember being referred to the Toyota people when I first asked for stuff ( many many years back ) and I doubt my local Lexus main dealer ( Canterbury ) actually has a parts dept.............. why would they ............ probably owned by the same people and I had a brilliant result from really nice service guys when I purchased my last battery ( trade price and free fitting one cold day in the winter ) Malc
  14. so how did this all work out ?? Malc
  15. if you get a judgement against the guy personally you might be able to link it too a Charge on his property, that should put the wind-up his mortgage company and damn him for sure
  16. I've only ever used my indy for servicing, repairs and MOT stuff ..... he's very competent and I was the first Lexus ( Ls400 ) owner to use him ...... some 12 years ago now saved myself a fortune too ........... lately getting seriously expensive stuff from Amayama in Japan .... UCAs, upper control arms, which even with shipping, Customs Duty and VAT and UK handling fees works out about 50% of UK Lexus/Toyota costs I have been buying my replacement battery ( s ) two now, from Toyota though ........... cheaper than anyone else and it actually fits the slot.☺️ I'm sure you'll find a suitable indy mechanic that's up to the mark for you and save a fortune over Lexus Main Dealer costs Others might have alternate views of course Good luck with whatever route you take Enjoy the best motoring money can buy Malc
  17. well done, it's good to Name and Shame
  18. enjoy your time with the CT200h ............ is the local guy joining this forum ? Malc
  19. Have you tried sourcing from Amayama or Rockauto ? , they might work out at 50% of the UK price even after shipping, Customs Duty and VAT and UK handling ...... and be with you in just a few days too 😊 Malc
  20. OMG it's my dotage ....... just too unobservant some days My Mk1 was also pearlescent white, a lovely colour BUT rust started to get a hold as they do on the Mk1 Don't think rust is ever a problem on the Mk4 's .............. the UCAs are however 'orribly expensive if and when they need replacing Malc
  21. hi welcome to the Ls400 Forum The cambelt and waterpump should last at least 100k miles and 10years or so ! No rush then for that I guess ( was the waterpump changed ? ) You don't give us the reg no. for us to DVLA check the MOTs etc Nor tell us what work has been carried out etc ... the UCAs are relatively expensive to replace and OEM is best for longevity second time around, be it from Lexus/Toyota UK or Amayama or Rockauto supplied ( Blueprint are ok but don't have the longevity ) ............... I guess Lexus have replaced them all by now as you say it's had all Lexus stamps for all work, the originals probably wouldn't have lasted 200+ k miles ..... so that's the huge expense out of the way for another 100 / 150k miles The exhaust tends to blow and on mine, three times now over 220k miles, it's been welded at @£40 a time The wheels always go poor but at least you don't need them looking good to have a serviceable car, nor that scrape fixed for £300 ( seems a lot tbh ) Enjoy the most wonderful motoring money can buy ....... this Mk3 I've had 8 years and just under 100k miles, but this is my third Ls400, a Mk1 and a Mk2 and been my main car for some 18 years ......... wouldn't change her for the world My second car is a 56 plate Honda Legend which now had for 3 years approaching and 20k miles in my gf's driving ...... I MUCH PREFER my Ls400 Enjoy Malc
  22. is it just flood damage ? to worry about Am I not thinking right or was there also some relatively recent 2011 radiation fall out too a while back Malc
