  1. Oh my Neil ... if your car is free of rust and all else is good to go then for heaven's sake bite the bullet, save yourself a fortune, and do the above Malc
  2. give up worrying about it ........ it's a wonderful car and a joy to drive and beats most other cars on the road in absolutely all respects .... well my Ls400 is anyway you know you can afford it, even tho' it's beginning to seem like a " little luxury " ..... and it's an absolute bug--ger to empty the bank account ... hahahahaha, if ever ........ Jeez, who'd prefer to drive an " ordinary " car eh ! whatever the apparent and real actual petrol cost The cost will come down I'm sure ...... Brent Crude today $103.80 ( earlier in the week it was $110 ) .... petrol could be about £1.50 a litre at that price .............. those sod--ding supermarkets are just taking the peeeeee ... as I've said somewhere else on here I'm now only buying my groceries at Aldi / Lidl as I KNOW they aren't ripping me off with excessive petrol profiteering ... as they very sensibly don't sell fuel ! Malc
  3. not seen cheval meat here in the UK but a long way back I ate in France ... and rabbit stew is yummy too ..... not sure the Foodbanks "do" rabbit though Malc
  4. got to laugh too ...... the mileage at that price seems a bit steep to me especially as you can't check the MOT etc coz the cherished plate has been removed Silly imho to renew the exhaust unless it's an OEM staiunless steel one that's got about a 50 year life . original's built like a tank EXCEPT that darned front box section that's rusting away mild steel ........ Cest le Vie someone will buy it ..... the UCAs and all else will shortly need attention at that mileage if they haven't been done methinks .... there's a few grand£££ popped away then ! Malc
  5. Oh my, wot sacrilege .. any Mk3 is a wondrous joy to behold Malc
  6. W>O>T !!! . that's a bit of a shocker to me for sure ... I have ONE .. Chris also on here has TWO ..... Autotrader and Classic Cars have about 8 from time to time ........ that's nigh on 1% Malc
  7. Harry welcome ...... looks like your Japanese language skills might be about to improve .. now then, where's the local Jap Language School to you Malc
  8. not sure those using Foodbanks and living like ragged Victorian children ............. and climbing up chimneys for a living, a scrap of bread ...... would share your thoughts here Malc
  9. bring back the horse drawn drays and use the horse manure to fertilise your allotments ........... very green and the burning of petrol and diesel is but a tiny tiny tiny global pollutant ...... Govts would do better by the world climate in focussing on more useful climate friendly soluitions ...... to everything. whatever they might be ....... and it ain't EVs for sure Malc
  10. at least a year methinks .. I remember seeing this advert in about 2012 ........... .......... maybe not BUT a blo--ody long time ago for sure Overdrive ??? wot's that ..... never was, just Power PWR for better well, power and mpg ( in mine anyway it seems ) ..... aren't all the aerials on the rear wing ? Malc
  11. I always used to buy mine from the local Toyota Main Dealer too ..... and they lasted 30k miles / 3 or 4 years and brilliant ... but as you now know, quite expensive BUT the last set I bought from them, perfectly sealed packet etc from new, just, sadly lasted about a 12 month . I guessed Old Brand New Stock and showing rubber fatigue So now i just reckon to replace every year at the MOT and pay tiddly swat for good working rubbers with a short life expectancy, well, until the next service and MOT But then your car is 5 years younger than mine Malc
  12. Ian hi .... any update here ? there's many owners on here that would be pleased to hear from you some more Malc
  13. yep ........... BUT and a big BUT, you'd be so reluctant to use it so as to preserve such a wonderful car .... which brings me to my ususal point that it's such a pity to have a great car ( whatever it might be ) and not get the full benefit from driving it as a daily user Malc
  14. As a prehistoric, well pre TPMS monster from here ......... I have a very simplistic view on TPMS and it's that if you don't need to have it, for say the MOT, which YOU Mark do not, being too old a car ... then at an OEM cost of @ £500 ( for 5 x wheels ) or a tad less for non OEM .. it seems a little excessive a " nice to have ", just to check the tyre pressures from time to time But of course everyone to their own and vehicle perfection if needed .......... and if indeed you can turn off the darned warning light on the dash if it pops irritalingly up Malc Reminds me chatting to an Alvis car owner at the weekend with his beautiful monster 1933 open tourer car ........ at a Classic Car Event in Kent ...... his postulating that it's wonderful not to have all that electronic gadgetry to go kaput and costing a fortune to remedy M
  15. an interesting analogy for sure .. could be blow-up sorry, teccy stuff is just simply beyond me Malc
  16. knowing you're a realist and aware of cars preponderances to wear-out .......... as said, depends on your proposed future use ....... also depends on your need for preventative and on-going maintenance ........... there's a reason why Lexus don't continue to warrant their cars in excess of 10 years young ....... bushes, suspension, and above all ELECTRONICS all have a tendency to maybe not have a particularly good extended life and which, when failing, will bring heartache and wondrous huge bills I'm sure Drivetrain and bodywork and zero'ish rust issues BUT it's those niggling other mechanical thingys that tend to go awry in all cars, not just Lexus Good luck with whatever you decide ..... my personal experiences with my Lexii have been just superb over the years, decades, and '00s of 000s of miles too Malc
  17. Malc

    Mew tyres

wish i could with mine ............. manufacturers tyre upgrades often take-out earlier modes tho' Malc
  18. reckon that's 27.25 mpg .. took a while to work it all out .. my abacus is sometimes challenged Malc
  19. that guy on the bike ... you know, it could be a lot of hot air ballooning-up Malc
  20. I think my car might just, a tad, pre-date such a digital ensemble . but I'll check it out Thank you Malc
  21. I'm no EV afficionado and the " BUT " is that the NC500 is spectacular but the journeying off that route to the un-beaten track is stupendously marvellous motoring especially too Most supermarkets now have charging points and also, somewhere I mentioned recently seeing an EV recharging from an ordinary electric point on our Town Quay scrubbing facility ...... 13 amp electric socket for washers etc .......... and that car had some sort of lead Adaptor to charge overnight ......... just a thought Malc
