  1. car has sold ............... she does look a beauty too ... a very early M reg Mk3 with a low mileage too the last of the glass front lenses she might go on forever, hope the cambelt and waterpump has been changed at some time though mine's on 223,223 miles just yesterday 😉 a lovely car to be sure and with hundreds of thousands of miles left in her ( both the sold one and mine ! ) Malc
  2. a while ago, maybe a year or two, the dials on mine stopped working even after a sensible thud .............. my indy thought she might need a replacement dash set-up ( huge expense from lexus btw ) so I left it and after maybe a year ( not sure ) she started working fine again and continues to this day ..... fingers xd I think stuff just dries up in there and weather at her age plays a part in the ease of workings it's NOT an MOT failure he told me Malc
  3. I had troubles recently ( end of the year ) with the key fobs being a bit laggardly in functioning ............. it was the main battery under the bonnet actually The key fobs will only work properly if the main battery is fine too Malc
  4. I had a different type of Maxxis tyre before I changed all 4 to the " All Seasons " style Theses are totally different in tread pattern and seem a whole lot improved for road holding than the Maxxis NON All Seasons variety just my thoughts having experienced two different types of Maxxis tyres Malc
  5. you're absolutely right you know at 223k and 24 yrs old now and I've been driving the Ls400 ( my third now ) as a main car for a few hundred thousand miles and some 19 years Can't believe how fortunate i was to stumble upon my first one all those years back and continue to be marvelled by the supreme comfort in all respects of having a Ls400 I must be one of the luckiest car owners / drivers on this planet 😉 Malc
  6. I really can't be bothered sorry i raised this thread guess i won't be raising anymore, life doesn't need to be so difficult you know bye
  7. please do,................. the guy is a seasoned engineer dealing with motorbike engines and their issues over a lifetime Malc
  8. pity neither of the UK regd cars are around now ( well, for MOT purposes anyway ! ) Malc
  9. my ancient Ls400 is actually now banned in the centre of London ( and Paris I believe ? ) ............ I'm proscribed from paying the new extra charges .... oh dear, I shan't make that once in a lifetime trip in my car then ! Delhi, where I have my Office, they tried alternate odd/even number plates on alternate weeks to curb congestion and pollution ............. failed miserably, totally ignored by everybody ( Delhi popln of 26.5mn people ) Electric cars might get developed properly there too BUT I doubt it's going to be in my lifetime ( I am old btw ) Electric cars are great yes, The new UK concept of worrying about the rubber left on the roads from tyre wear and brake dust is also going to be an interesting development methinks Malc
  10. but that's probably only in the european and nordic nations maybe Japan too the rest of the world is taking all our old and " muscle " cars and the USA is happily still buying V8s etc Not at all certain the concept of saving the planet by going all electric cars has passed muster in the rest of the world tbh Malc
  11. I find it quite amazing that cars need, what ?? 10 gears ? I'm driving my third Ls400 in and constantly over 19 years and quite honestly, the old and well proven technology seems to work absolutely fine for me ( but I am very old too I guess ) Masses of power and oomph 0 to 60 in a faster time than I would ever need and a still top speed of something I'm never going to reach ..... wot's with all this super gears etc I can just about overtake anything else on the road, beat boy racers away from the lights and stop on a pinhead too BUT I do sympathise with you for having your problems with a really expensive new car ...... might be the same with a Lamborghini or huge BMW too maybe Malc
  12. initially i used to buy Lexus / Toyota wiper rubbers and they lasted very very well, about 3/4 years and 30/40k miles This last set lasted less than a year............ . and about £28 ? so the simple option was to have my indy, who has been looking after my Ls400s for 12 years now, use his own cheapo supplied wiper rubbers ..... about £8.50 at the last service in May ......... they are doing well and if they only last the year then that's fine by me I think buying the OEM from Lexus/Toyota just might be quite ancient stock to specifically fit my 1995 car Malc
  13. blimey, that's a rare sight for me ............. usually about 4 times a year when I refill the washbottle Malc
  14. that's a lot of exceptions and then what about the classics too ? my 1932 Triumph Southern Cross Sports Tourer ? Malc
  15. is that the new and old cambelt ? did you replace the waterpump too ? cambelts usually look newish even when 100k+ miles 😉 Malc
  16. and the fuel tanks rot out prematurely and people pay out for a new tank and the eco cost of making new/replacement fuel tanks might be ??? does anyone in authority ever investigate anything thoroughly enough I wonder Malc
  17. this one was long ago scrapped I believe surely anyone can pop any reg into a search engine, like DVLA MOT checker, and collect a type of car, colour, age, mileage etc ! Malc
  18. just hearing that the Govt is considering greater use of ethanol in petrol I know not the whys and wherefores of the arguments for any of this BUT the other day with my car at my indy, his partner dealing with motorbikes was saying, while taking the carbs apart and cleaning them, that ' it's the ethanol in the fuel that rots out the fuel tanks ' Malc
  19. just a little confused here you say you have a Celsior ( and the velour would suggest that too ) but it's badged Lexus ? Why hide the reg number ? Like the pearlescent white too, the colour of my first Ls400 J54DAP some 19 years ago now Malc
  20. oh dear, maybe it's me then but I could swear it was the UK Wales ................ my dotage, sorry guys Malc
  21. when I searched lady google she popped up with www.amayama.com and just progressed from there ( on my phone rather than on my desktop computer to be fair ) Malc
