  1. Friends Romans Countrymen, Latin scholars too, wherefore art thou ?? Malc
  2. they are indeed, there's quite a few being scrapped each year BUT being rare doesn't mean they have lots of value or even any sensible value that outweighs the cost of restoration, repair etc you will find what you want sooner or later and it will probably be at a sensible price too Malc
  3. yes there's plenty out there once you've overcome your initial disappointment Malc
  4. never seen this before, looks very interesting Not at all sure what the User Input means though, neither Advisories nor Failures is it a bit like saying " the car's dirty " ? Malc
  5. I fully appreciate the quality of the best car i have ever owned and driven I owned a car sales business a few years ago and certainly experienced a great raft of driving different cars, some brilliant ridiculously expensive and performance machines and fast ( Ferrari Aston Martin Rolls Royce etc ) but all with issues that are trounced by the simple all round quality of a Ls400 Simply the best car you don't need to tamper with to try to get a better performance from Oh, and I do go to this Livery Company lunches occasionally too The Worshipful Company of Tobacco Pipe Makers & Tobacco Blenders Malc
  6. yes for certain, a Ls400 V8 is a wolf in sheeps clothing, ready to pounce at a nano-seconds notice into a wimperingly quiet lion with the force of a titan Malc
  7. that's assuming you've already changed the radiator re the issue of water ingress into the gearbox ? Malc
  8. I'd be very concerned that the type of wheel that cracks like your old one's aren't really fit for purpose Driving anywhere at any time with those style / type of wheels would worry me endlessly Malc
  9. is this the weight of each screw cap ? you'll need good braces to hold 'em up Malc
  10. where does the rain run away to now ? Malc
  11. 0 - 60 in 6.9 secs and still performing I guess, and up too 150mph is it ? and she pulls away from boy racers with a willing smile in her jaws, leaving all and sundry dead in their tracks ................... and she has the roar of, sounds like, a flock of sheep munching grass at 50 paces too I've never thought either, to use full power on any of my 3 Ls400s over these past 19 years Malc
  12. your car's got plenty of power then ? sounds dead to me the Mk3 is a fabulous car Try one, you'd be pleasantly surprised .... mine's on 224k miles right now Malc
  13. rubber cap replacements won't tempt them again, unless it's someone just being mischievous or have you got dextrous squirrels around Malc
  14. when my front drop links were replaced ( quite recently ) the Lexus parts were stupid money so my indy used a factor for good replacements at about a 3rd of the price ( it's on here somewhere ) BUT they could only supply one side, the other was forever out of stock .. so he had two of the same side, cut and welded too make a useful pair and fitted them ok and the clunking stopped too Malc
  15. a drug baron's maybe Malc
  16. ok thank you just that mine's not been changed in 224k miles and 24 years, no wobbles or vibrations so guess I should leave well alone for now Malc
  17. maybe a heat shield beginning to detach ? .......... happened to me recently but only at one specific point in one town, it never did show-up otherwise 😑 Malc
  18. so how many miles etc has it taken for this to be so compressed in everyday use and wear ? Thanks Malc
  19. let's see how you get on with this one ☺️ Malc
  20. OMG looking at the engine compartment today, such a rare occurrence, of course the pas cooler pipes are in front of the aircon unit apologies ...... am I going nuts Malc
  21. don't get too excited, the USA one, the guy refused to interact with me to help take her " over the line " and there's another here in the UK just been on sale at 730k miles recently on autotrader and they said they had another one in the family ( forever ) at 2.3mn miles longevity with I guess very good maintenance makes for wonderful cars eh ! Malc
  22. but you get my drift ....... there might be summat, apparently insignificant, that Lexus wouldn't plan to do but the indy would as a matter of course ! Malc
  23. a mechanic dropped a little oil or summat when servicing her or maybe some sad body fluids of a now long gone huge insect ! Malc
  24. I read all of the above ........ then there's the little niggling things that don't seem to be in a normal ( Lexus ) service schedule that the indy will probably do as a matter of course, like suitably greasing the caliper sliders and the like at appropriate times ....... rather than relying on the punter to have to replace the hugely expensive calipers at some time due to seized pins maybe just a thought Malc
