Leaving Lexus behind in Spain
Malc replied to Dealkent's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
oh my, what a disaster started by the Chinese eh ! Oh well, can but do one's best at these challenging times Good luck with you're plans whatever you decide you can do Hope the Spanish taxi drivers aren't going to take the p - - ss with your fares Malc -
interesting to hear an " expert " yesterday advising that whilst the anti viral jab is possibly a while away there are current drugs in process and available that will LIMIT the symptoms of sufferers and aid recovery that's probably the best we will get for now ..... that's pretty good I think The following is a bit of a rant and for this I apologise upfront, turn off now if you don't want to read it NOW as to businesses carrying on, well, my online travel business where I sell almost 100% flights hasn't sold anything for about 2 weeks or more The office support I have, sales, marketing and IT are in limbo ... the cleaner too I'm a member of the FSB and neither they nor my accountant are able to give me a single indication of when and how the Govt might be making these promised Grants available ............. the Govt hasn't told them ...... ok it's early days BUT cashflow is king in all businesses and quite frankly zero cash in and lots of cash out really isn't a good scenario ... especially when from times past I just do not believe the Govt is capable of actually getting those monies out to the businesses Words words words ............... reminds me of legally guaranteed Research and Development Grants about 14 years back, my then business ( green roof growing stuff ) paid out lots of dosh to Ove Arup for very very fine world class research and for me to be told by the Authorities to simply just " f..k off," they aren't paying it out in cash even though they were legally obliged to do so My belief in Authority actually doing what they promise wanes a little THE GOOD NEWS HOWEVER there will be lots of new jobs up and coming for the 1mn school leavers etc in the .............. CARE SECTOR ..... so don't despair, conventional business as we have known it might not survive BUT there will be jobs a plenty ..... just got to find someone to pay for them Malc

well, sorry to say, ............... seems like £200 is a reasonable cost ................. what did the car cost you ? I'm a bit surprised Lexus only want to charge you £200 going back about 25 years i had to pay Vauxhall @£150 for one new programmed key Malc

Hey, I posted this 2.5 years ago Well, there's another post somewhere too but can't quite find it One of my heatshields actually parted company with it's retaining bolts sometime last year and caused a rattle on top of the exhaust but was challenging to find as it only occurred going over one particular hump in Faversham Kent ... couldn't initially decide what the rattle was Rattle found, heat shield removed, not replaced and all is well still with Lexii ... it was just all ( 3 ? ) bolts corroded through ..... it's NOT an MOT failure for sure Sometimes I guess they just aren't really really needed Malc

I must admit the price of my needed Wilco semi-synthetic 15/40 ( is it ) for my Ls400 is now at a heady £18 or so for a 5 ltr pack that my indy uses for my annual service Thought with the oil war going on between Saudi Arabia who has too much of the stuff and Russia that is in desperate need of cash revenues to support its armaments etc that the final retail shop price would have been more sensible OR is it just the car dealer servicing guys taking the ***** do you think ? Their servicing oils come out of huge great 100 ltr barrels at the back of the workshop at a trifle less than £16+ vat a ltr Malc

OK, I owned for 11 years a Wolseley 16/60 1969 in Rose Taupe and Sandy Beige, lovely comfy car and very reliable too BUT it certainly suffered from rust, outriggers etc and wings too AND at about 112k miles the engine was quite simply knackered and scrapped in 1983/4 ...... sadly just worn out I saw one at a classic car show once, a beauty that the owner/family had from brand spanking new and he put its survival down to not many miles and having a sump oil leak / weep from new that no one fixed and which lovingly spread a protective film of oil all over the underside, for ever My Mk3 Ls400 at 229k miles now and my third Ls400 in some 20 years of having one for a daily driver is certainly the most reliable ( ok it's had it's moments too ) and comfy car I've ever had the privilege to own ........ 8.5 years now with this one and 100+ k miles and hopefully much longevity left too ..... oh !, and a headlamp bulb is about £4.50 and 5 mins to change Malc

you are joking surely ! I was in Halfords yesterday ( yes Halfords for 2 tyres for my Honda Legend . speechless I had to use them tbh ) and I saw specialist 5/30 oils on the rack at what looked like £18 a ltr Malc

I do quite like the Falkens on mine ..... but all imported tyres might be a little challenging to find the marque you're looking for right now Malc

Lexus recreates the LS400 champagne glass advertisement
Malc replied to LexIS200Sport's topic in Lexus General Discussions
looks a very smart car too, think i might not actually fit into those seats though ..... cest le vie ...... I'll have to stick with my Mk3 and it's only about £75k too ................. a bargain compared to the old Ls600 that was about £110k ?? Malc a very nice appealing limo methinks -
good on Halfords for having my Falken tyres BUT Oh my, such a laid back laissez-faire attitude ...... almost too much for any of the 3 guys at reception to want to attend to me Now I know why I prefer my usual tyre people ( or indeed anyone else ) where did service and attention to customers needs ever vanish too ! Malc Rant over
-
well done Lexus ..... I sometimes find that too ...... maybe lots of use of the car helps keep things " going " mine's a daily driver and now on 229k miles .............. I travel @ 12 / 15k miles a year somewhere .......... often via petrol stations Malc
-
pray for a speedy recovery Malc
-
my wheels are " beyond the pale " and I'm going to have them dipped and powdercoated etc ..... but i said that about 18 months ago and leaving it till after my trip touring the Emerald Isle at which I returned in October ...... 2018 I'm expecting it to be @£300 incl the centre caps at a local establishment trouble is I don't see any performance enhancing issues in spending that sort of dosh ... so it sits on the backburner till I get shamed into it maybe Malc

Australian LS400
Malc replied to RgrWynne's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
I never saw one when I was in Singapore ( twice now ) and there they have this anomaly that cars over a certain age MUST be scrapped or exported as they aren't allowed on the roads ..... so maybe it is from there after all ........ did you notice a slight slant to the eyebrows Malc -

and the Mk1 and Mk2 in the UK ( and the Mk4 ) has the foglights below the flashers ! .... the Mk3 doesn't, it's in the main lens clusters maybe the Aus imports were specifically different for some reason but it's a lovely car apart from all that bling Malc -

It's a Mk3, tell by the front light set-up ...... unless they were different in Oz I saw one Ls400 when I was in Oz a few years back too Looked at the prices there and at that time brand new cars were about twice the price than in the UK ...... a Ls600 was about £££ 235k ..... impossible prices, yes sterling NOT Aus$ Malc have a safe trip back -
