  1. The Octanes in that will give me all the E5 I'll be needing in this weather malc
  2. Ian hi blimey, you're going for broke then ........... hehehehehehehe ........this is going to cost U mega $$$ I'm sure but you'll end up with a very fine steed you might get just the replacement seals for the PAS unit ... tiny cost when available and the exhaust system, well, I've just had bespoke front end fabricated and all sorted using the existing quite serviceable cats too ........... £360 incl taxes here . The rest of the exhaust I'm told, is built with tank-like armour stainless steel so you might want to think to save some $$ on that front ? Ah just remembered, my 2 x exhaust shields had to be removed coz the bolts holding them rusted thru' ..... vestigial pieces really so not replaced Good luck with it all ..... a very rare Australian car I know Keep us posted please You're in danger of my popping in to see you when i decide to pop over to visit friends in Orbost , south of Melbourne and Rainbow Beach nr. Brisbane but that won't be till your next winter maybe when hopefully all this covid crap has finally been brought under control and airports manage to get flights in the air with less trouble for their passengers AND your car's finished maybe Malc
  3. this is on the Honda Legend of course .... my Ls400 is glass headlamps thankfully Mmalc
  4. just used the Halfords kit recommended on here a while back ...... 10 mins including headlight washing ........ not quite sparkling as new but very clear whatever ...... £6.95 . a Turtlewax product ! small 300ml green bottle will probably last many many applications ... such an easy application process, easy to do a couple of times a year if necessary and the bottle will probably last 10 years minimum . you could clean a whole fleet of cars Malc
  5. probably as useless as conventional fuelled cars too Malc
  6. bit odd to get that wrong BUT the company has been around since July 2019 and survived ( with help from the Dirs Loan tho ) it seems Malc
  7. not bad eh ! Malc
  8. There's a good looking ( well, almost ) Mk3 N reg from Tain . almost in the Shetlands but not quite at good money £2450 with 118k miles Autoafraider Looks like one I should buy for my collection if it wasn't going to cost £1000 in petrol ( actually about £500 in reality ) .......getting there and back 😵 same colour as mine too ......... I think it's Aspen Green ? Why are all the good one's sooooo far away ( vide Plastic Orange's one a while back ) Malc
  9. Maybe Adrian Flux which pops up here from time to time when insurance is raised could please provide us with some definitive guidance ??? Thank you AF Malc
  10. I do too think there is too much slagging off of the various modes of propulsion For each incumbent the costs will vary ...... from the likes of me where to actually pop £30. 50. 60 nay £100 k into the equation is simply dopey ... when my Ls400 V8 4ltr limo owes me a staggering £600 in capital costs ....... and about £300 a year VED too ............... why on earth would i want to deplete the world's resources by buying any sort of new car ... my personal contribution to " greening " the planet methinks AND someone has to keep the oil workers working and the coffers of the Arab nations well, well oiled Reminded me of a conversation I was having a couple of years back with a junior prince and member of the Abu Dhabi royal dynasty .......... his dad, yes his dad, back in the 60's YES the 1960's had popped over to the UK to offer the Chairman of my then employer, NatWest bank, a loan to sort out the capital cash flow issues the bank had at that time ......... Comparatively and newly discovered oil wealth. you know, petrol and diesel stuff that had not long been brought to bring wealth to those nations and the Royal families being able to stop their nomad lives and to actually build palaces and the like, having gotten a tad fed-up I guess with tents and dust and that sort of regime in life ...... and camels too So don't slag off oil and fossil fuels either . they too have had a tremendous benefit to the world and to all of us, our pension funds, our way of life and our abilities to be " good " for the future with " greening " ........ going forward somehow so don't slag any of it off, it's all going better for us somehow ........... I'm sure Malc
  11. you really needed the later invented humungous Toyota LandCruiser diesel thingy that they probably use these days
  12. when was this then ... 2016'ish Malc
  13. maybe he was referring to himself and his Team of di--heads Malc
  14. maybe there's a warning sticker you can place strategically inside your ( un ) locked car that tells the thief that they will be sprayed with corrosive indelible ink the second they tamper with anything ! ......... If there's no such sticker then get one printed and place strategically ... assuming the thief can actually read Just an idea Malc
  15. 'Twas a fantastic month of idyll and driving unhurried all over and around . nowt pre-booked, just arriving somewhere interesting for the night . there's ALWAYS somewhere to stay wherever you might be .......... almost everywhere in the world........ One of my usual annual one month trips somewhere wonderful in the Lexus, usually driving about 4000 miles in sublime comfort etc ........ The only timing crisis is to get somewhere convenient to make sure i caught the ferry back on the pre-booked time from whichever port I remembered I was going from All pre-covid of course ... thinking the next trip awaits ... might even be Ireland again . such beauty and mostly happy people to be encountered along the route Malc
  16. I can't think that for one minute any insurer would offer you a product that wasn't going to make THEM money ... Ts & Cs abounding with excesses for all sorts of contingencies I'm sure The consumer sure won't be winning on that one methinks Malc
  17. an old fashioned 1950's Land Rover ?? I can picture them now, open top with a canvas over-cover the steel frame and up to maybe a 8 seater too Malc
  18. ah yes I remember it well ... the only road in Ireland you don't want to be on when it's closed somewhere remote for roadworks whatever . the diversion I had to take, beautiful as it was ....... I thought about 25 miles .... but i may be exagerrating a little . it didn't matter one jot . i was there for the scenery on my month's holiday traversing the island of Ireland Malc
  19. Oxford Union Debating Society Agenda next week then ......... heahahahahhaha ............ no I jest, of course ......... I'm sure you're right ........Just a nice car to have and to use , our Ls400s .... but with no real intrinsic value apart from 2 tonne of scrappage at some point down the line Malc
  20. on my 1995 car the alarm that comes from the factory as fitted, is activated by / at a dial, which you can turn the sound down ( to off ! ) under the wood grain trim by the gear stick / front arm rest ..... careful as you move it tho' The " dial down " removes the sound of the alarm which is often activated by a metal object whatever being in close proximity . in the arm rest holders for instance This clearly is nothing to do with your personal needs for the complex Hawk Universal system however, being a retrofit upgrade to your car's security ..... so Good Luck with it all Malc
  21. YES YES YES for me too Malc
  22. I've got inbuilt LKAS on my Honda Legend 2006 ..... it's good to read this stuff on here ........... I had no real idea what the feature is for, now i know, I'll probably keep " wondering " and " wandering " as quite honestly i cannot see real merit in getting to grips with this technology that I never realised i had, to have and to hold ...... on my super doopa Legend My dear old Ls400 doesn't of course have this level of ( useless ?? ) technology to actually worry about BUT it's good to try to understand what is is I'm really missing on my high tech Honda Legend I'll keep wondering and wandering . I promise not to fall asleep over it all whilst driving Malc
  23. and there's zero politicians to vote for that will be seeing it any differently either HOWEVER . politicians are quite mindful to just go bash the planet and each country with war mongering noxious and def climate changing lumps of metal and gases and whatever else, in the name of humanity and peace giving, they possibly can ........... be it Putin bombing the sh-t out of everyone everywhere AND everyone else doing the same back to him ..... AND in the next breath, these same politicians praising the climate changing benefits of EVs over a delightful ( sic ) V8 petrol limo World's gone barmy for sure Malc
  24. yesterday God Bless'em ... Motor & Home absolutely diligent brilliant service and very competitive quote too from someone working really really hard to get me into the fold with my existing Home/House insurance ... by far the best and with Royal Sun as the " back stop " ... on my @400 year old pad NOW my Honda Legend car insurance due 1st August and Saga arrive at £447.18 fully comp etc . all the bells and whistles . So M&H beat this down to £426 . bartering with Saga gets them down to £421 then i go for the jugular with Saga and they finally capitulate at £387.18 .......... so I booked with them . they have my Lexus insured too of course and want me to buy ........ Home Insce Equity Release Travel Insce Health Insce .............. with no hope at all on any of the above i know Ain't this all a dreadful pullava eh ! blooooody hour on the phone to save £60 ........... why oh why could'nt the price have been more sensible at their first shot I detest this annual ( twice ) bother every time Malc
