  1. bit odd coz the other day I saw one advertised too, not sure if it might have been this one ... very recently imported, can't remember the detail other than it was the colour, not sure about the mileage nor anything else BUT that one was clearly being advertised by our Lexuschap Dudley trader 😲 do these newly imported cars " do the rounds " with traders at all I wonder ............ either in reality or even now, with lockdown, virtually Malc Coulsdon is about 1.5hrs down the M20 / M25 / M23 etc for me
  2. 2011 the best before date maybe .............. then BANG sorry i jest Malc
  3. and with the Mk3 there was a totally free Lexus recall early on to replace the starter motor ....... I did ask Lexus when I first got my Mk3 in June 2011 about that and they confirmed it wasn't outstanding on my car there's another Member on here though who asked too, at a very late stage, and Lexus paid for its replacement ...... not too long ago , well maybe 8 years now, but it might be worth asking the Q of Lexus just in case it needs doing ......... it's a very very long job I'm told and if Lexus would cover the cost then well, that could be a good result Malc
  4. Howard hi, I should have also mentioned that there is sometimes / usually / often a slight lifting at the centre mid-door strip on the drivers door. It gets a slight rust spot there just under the trim . ............ a fixing grommet ? I noticed mine about 6 years ago but it's never worsened to my knowledge On the Ls430s it was sometimes a warranty claim, going back quite some years though on here Just a thought Malc
  5. we take our cars out alternately to do essential shopping , pharmacy and the like ...... now once a week for each car, Ls400 and the Honda Legend .......... even that didn't stop the Honda battery not starting the other day ...... new in August 2018 and new alternator a few months ago too ............ sodding cars ................ but the beautiful Lexus seems to be fine with it's once a week outing thankfully ... long may the cars stay safe and " in order " and be ok with their " resting up " Malc I Social Distanced with my neighbour who put the Honda battery on trickle charge overnight for me in his workshop ... good to have kind neighbours
  6. and I had a mobile phone just like that in about 1994 would it have been, not quite like a brick but getting there Malc
  7. you're running with 19 y/o tyres ? surely not ! Malc
  8. you're not moving " directional " tyres incompatibly ? just thought I'd mention Malc
  9. if they have house insurance or a member of the AA or such, then there might be some sort of provision in that policy to put them in touch with free legal advice Malc
  10. welcome Michael, you'll be finding plenty of time for the reading then now Malc
  11. Catford was a really upmarket place ( well, about 60 years ago ) ..... and maybe used as a taxi ......... or maybe just some old bugger ( like me ! ) had it and now run it's course with very limited miles these past few years ......... and finding it's next " home " for aged / young classics 😊 Malc and I bet they'd take £4 / 500 for it too right now !
  12. Hey, I s'pose you've seen that Mk4 on Autotrader at £1099 ........... bit leggy and a CatD and a little scruffy BUT at that money it might be a useful project right now for you the recent MOTs don't mean much coz it's not been very far but a fresh MOT might put your mind at rest over UCAs etc and those 'orrible costs Malc
  13. I would be amazed if a rear window wasn't available quite inexpensively from a car breaker tbh ............ now the rubber seal might take some finding perhaps ..... part of the " fun " of the chase no doubt " carry on Thomas " ......... we might all cry I think you / we might have a few more months of some sort of lockdown to contemplate .............. and complete your exercise in Ls400 salvation Malc
  14. my bro-in-law had to drive up the A1 the other day ...... and it was ghostly ................ almost the only car on the road Malc
  15. in these challenging days of lockdown I can see nothing better than to set oneself an almost impossible task ........... bit like a 25,000 piece jigsaw .......... you would eventually make it to the end ........ immense frustrations along the way but oh my, what satisfaction when completed a god thought there Thomas Malc
  16. can't see that happening with Hydrogen fuel refuelling at BP and other petrol stations tbh .......... another good reason to find the sensible alternative to EV and possible Chinese, Amazon and Apple world domination aspirations Malc
  17. that's an eye-wateringly huge cost if it is that part needs replacing I'm remembering when I started my earlier post about Ls430 or Ls460 or Ls600 as a next step in ownership and the Inverter costs seemed ridiculous but most thought was that it would never need replacing I hope yours doesn't, the price looks catastrophic Malc
  18. you haven't got some sort of rodent trying to make a home in there causing this maybe ? Malc
  19. ah then ! you clearly have the Ultra Smart Key System on your Ls430 ...... being able to turn it off well done Malc
  20. ok ...... I'll see what LPG is all about then too ........................ Malc
  21. I'm intrigued as to how people without access to easy / or any charging points, no parking at home or close by say, can expect to successfully recharge their EVs I park my cars,( coz I have no other option ) , in the road and would be hard pressed to pop into the local supermarket car park charging point for howsoever long it takes to get a full recharge whereas I understand the Hydrogen fuel cell charging points would be as simple and effective as filling up with petrol ......... at say a BP petrol station or even a supermarket filling station ..... maybe something like LPG is now around the country ? I don't know at all BUT what I do know is that I personally at home, along with the several hundred other houses along my ancient Kentish High Street have absolutely zero ability to electric recharge EVs and i think I'm like many many others in the UK with the same situation Malc
  22. maybe Japan as a country thinks that too then ? big vehicle usage, large population, island nation .... oh, yes, a bit like the UK in many many respects I'm with them all the way tbh Malc
  23. sorry, I thought the issue was the special washer nozzles not specific to our usual Ls400s ! Malc
