they sure do scrub up well eh ! NOW, odd that it's just come onto the market afresh with a freebie 6 month extended MOT .... I think I'd want a fresh one done independently tbh especially at that mileage with UCAs etc quite worn, especially if she's going to be properly used as an everyday car ....... she's not been used very much at all over many recent years Maybe I'm just a born sceptic ............ wonder if the cambelt etc has ever been changed, it's not so bad tho' being a non-interference engine Just my ultra cautious approach to some things in life Hope she gets to a new happy caring home Malc

there's a concurrent'ish post ( or even 2 ) on here somewhere from a guy with a 450h who has just had a dead Inverter .......... worth checking all that out too if it's possible It's probably a rare occurrence but with the older age of hybrids now you should at least be aware of the potential issues more fully Malc not to rain on your or the hybrids parade at all BUT it can be a jolly expensive problem if you're unfortunate enough to have it land at your bank balance

Lock down work
Malc replied to Razor61's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Paul, maybe if I paid a visit to my cousin in Kirkham we could swap cars for a month or two and you could finish off all your excess energy getting mine up to speed ...... during the lockdown of course Malc -
Unless it's the radiator on the Ls430 and Ls460 every 100k miles or so ..................... to prevent the inevitable disaster Malc

Just thinking aloud here Steve ...... watching the Repair Shop on tv these days ............. might there be a local college or whatever, professional apprentice maybe ( when lockdown finishes ) where your seat upholstery needs might be a good challenge at an economic price and all the while being overseen by an " expert " who will ensure a brilliant repair undertaken ! thinking I'm having to resurrect this post a little .................... just a thought here clearly there is further info on other posts with regard to the non-longevity of the Lexus Inverters ........ but not for the Ls600 though I think it's the 450h variety and evidence that for this model a new Inverter is @£13k ..... with a private 2nd hand one being available at £400 or so and with no knowledge of durability for that, nor a guarantee I guess ......... and no known availability of the normal " exchange " either it seems that one would expect with say an alternator whatever so just thinking to put this into the mix when considering an aged Ls600 as a next car to move in to from your Ls400 430 or 460 whatever the now standard Lexus 15 year gtee with the hybrid batteries Malc

reading in the on line press today that car insurers are experiencing a 75% reduction in claims right now ....... due to these tragic times and less mobility might we be going to experience the rare sight of insurers giving rebates to those worthy claims free customers I wonder besides the Admiral ( is it ? ) £25 refund uberrimae fidei ............ it's a 2way street Malc

I have seen some car sales people advertising free delivery at this time ! Maybe that's an option Malc

....... sleep on it ................ and find the solution to your quandry soon ............. Malc

this equates to slightly under the full Lexus Main Dealer hourly rate too incl the VAT WOW, the old unit must be worth to him, shall we say, 150 euros maybe Malc was I reading the price of a brand new unit at about 13000 euros from another post by Steve ?
-
so can you tell us the price you had to pay for yours please .... not to include the exchange Thanks Malc

M20 in my case, one dark night ..... RAC recovery sent the " One Time " rescue guys out in a brand new recovery truck ......... which broke down as it left the depot on it's very first journey out ...... all sorted though thankfully.................... , eventually The " locking " steering is quite common to many many cars in my long experience and a simple pull / tug at the steering wheel has always freed it up ok Malc

ah yes, by ship .......... well I see plenty of brand new imported cars coming off the ships at Sheerness ... seems to be a major car import port .... and the local car body shops always on hand for remedial challenges once the cars have arrived................ maybe a one-off individual import might be ok with being bubble wrapped etc .............. what would I know ! Think I'd rather see one in the flesh arrived and ready to go on the UK roads, even if it means I've lined the pockets of someone professed in this trade challenges all round methinks Malc

Steve, a proud looking Ls400 / Celsior .. she looks a beaut .......... well done The import celsior you reference cif at @£4k........ landed and flown into Bristol airport too ..... where I presume there's all the necessary DVLA stuff or whatever to deal with the logistics etc to get the car freed up to travel to you all UK imported fully etc sounds a very interesting proposition I'd find this process a bit scary just in case your money fly's but the car doesn't Malc
