  1. OMG I've just copied this from your above Met Police / Toyota article " In addition, air pollution is known to cause 40,000 premature deaths a year in Britain, with diesel vehicles a large contributor to the problem, producing high levels of particulates and toxic nitrogen oxides, which can cause respiratory disease and heart attacks. " might put into perspective vis a vis our everyday life expectations with our tragic Coro virus pandemic which has reached about 32k deaths thus far Malc
  2. Fact, why are you often so damnably challenging ?? when it just pisses people off Malc
  3. brilliant idea, those over 50, but only on December 31st of that year after their birth date and again only if Xmas Day falls on a Tuesday but also those under 51 I reckon in that same year if Boxing Day falls on a Monday too Malc
  4. I would think the Toyota Hydrogen fuel fleet on trial with the Met Police right now is probably quite safely compliant with all potential safety issues Malc
  5. Welcome to the LOC Janis now all i would suggest is to get the laser tracking done professionally somewhere at say £30 an end / £60 in total someone else will probably appear shortly to give you a more authoritative response Malc
  6. I do somehow think Toyota do really have the answer though Tell me, is the storage, for car use, of Hydrogen fuel going to be any more challenging than that of LPG or say CNG where in India all the tuk tuks run on that gas Malc
  7. whatever, it's probably Toyota and Honda Japanese rather than Geely ( is it ? ) Chinese and I know I'd prefer the former Malc sorry, it's silly time I know ............. Covid madness onset !
  8. oh my, did you have the essential pint of draught Guinness to get your strength up sorry I jest and Welcome to the LOC someone will be along soon who can help you I'm sure Malc
  9. So good your mind is now at peace with all this ...... do make a note of the time and day of your confirming call though as when push comes to shove they might well deny they ever said that or perhaps state that the person you spoke with did NOT have the authority to say what she said I'm going through this right now with a supposed reputable travel protection business that is just wriggling itself out of it's obligations ..... and i just didn't think to keep that note of date and time sadly ......... just take care ..... covid issues are pushing otherwise " honest " businesses and people into lacking the " utmost good faith " aspect that's been paramount in many businesses for ever Malc
  10. that's brilliant and I think a lot of people do that too ....... I gave that up about 17 years ago, 3 years into my first Ls400 ....... and as an ex car dealer and a usual skinflint I think I know the financial benefits of running with these amazing cars, rather than any other marque, whatever the immediate bills that might come our way .... and I did have my alternator to replace the other month too Such unreliability and after only 24 years and 225k miles ....... can't trust anything these days 😲 Malc
  11. maybe, just maybe he should still be reported to Trading Standards as at the very end of the blurb he's stating quite categorically that there's no warranty given or implied etc AND that is just illegal for a Trader ? Malc
  12. is this the Last Tango in Halifax car ? Malc
  13. did you manage to read any of the comments on your other post on this subject a week or so back ? Also I'm understanding that placing a piece of the leather underneath the busted area and then gluing or whatever the edges down might provide a good repair Not sure if I got this from the Repair Shop or Salvage Hunters Repairs programmes Malc
  14. who was insured by, well, an insurance company and it's the industry itself that is, once again, protecting it's own Total lack of good faith on their part Uberrimae fidei is a twoway street BUT the other side don't seem to recognise that for sure ....... like with many a business facing melt down in this covid crisis sadly Malc
  15. in my simple non professional opinion I would say You have not been refused insurance at all ... they have simply declined to quote ............ two very very different legal concepts to my mind Malc
  16. Harry's Garage is great ............ BUT he doesn't have a Ls400 in his line-up ........... ggrrr Malc
  17. well I can only speak from my own limited experience ...... 20 years with a Ls400 and my Mk3 for nearly 9 years is the best I've had and for this last 100k miles too OK I spent about £2/ 2.5k on her a couple of years ago now, OEM Toyota 4 x UCAs ( the earlier replaced BluePrint one failed at 43k and therefore crap ) and front drop links, cambelt, pulleys and waterpump sorted and 4 new tyres too in this price She's good to go until 2030 and to 325k + miles now i hope She's cost me bugger all really to keep going and probably for a long long time to come too She cost me £1400 in June 2011 with full Lexus Service History stuff .......... never likely to see Lexus servicing since or ever again though The write-off last August ( now Cat N ) valued her at £1595 and my simple effective door repair put some @£800 ? back in my pocket OK, she's a little challenged, needing tlc to bumper scrapes etc and the rear doors could sensibly be replaced with original new one's or from an excellent breaker in the same colour, but I can't see that ever happening tbh .............. unless there's a miracle out there about to happen She's used just about every day and I expect scrapes and dings .... it's the motoring world we live in and there's most drivers far less careful than me out on our roads I'd happily jump in her tomorrow ( Covid excepting ) and drive across Europe, just checking the oil and water etc and knowing she'll get me there ..... and BACK A usable everyday classic in the making and worth, well, let's say maybe £1000 or so Ls400s at £5 / 10/ 15k I'd be scared stiff to put them out on the road ....... what's the point in having a car you can't dare to use in case of a ding ? Certainly the best cars I've ever had ..... and as you know from my earlier posts I used to part own a secondhand car sales business and had the use of a whole range of marques, RRs, Astons, Jags and dreaded but beautiful big big Mercs................., Alfas, beautiful but catastrophic engineering sadly....... and many others too of course Ls400s are the way to go ................. but sensibly please Malc
  18. .......... and the waterpump ? Malc
  19. I watched that same one again just a few days ago too on WD .......... there's a lot of repeat stuff right now ..... but it's good even thought the wheels they used were 'orrible Malc
  20. can't understand how it's only 105 steps .... my house is 38 steps ( lower ) ground floor at the back to top floor...... I'd sure go for the Tesco Home Delivery slot whatever and off road parking might be ok now too ....... emissions compliant, just a dream to ever owning a car there I guess Malc
  21. maybe I was too hasty with my initial comments BUT ....... a Mk2 as this is has very limited value even as a potential classic ....... at these 145k miles especially ........ at the £9k it's cost him it really isn't an everyday usable car methinks, nor at his seeking price of £4.5k ...... hope he achieves lots of ££££ for the effort he's put into her, but I fear there's going to be a significant capital loss emerging sadly let's see how she goes ..... I'd still want an independent new MOT whatever ........ being the cautious sole I can often be Malc
  22. but in the UK nowhere is further than 60 miles from the sea ..... those salty sea breezes sure can play havoc ........ I jest Mine's always lived close to or right alongside the sea, 9 years now in my ownership anyway, then Bournemouth before that ( maybe even Poole as that is ever so upmarket they tell me ) but of course I might have some hidden rusty screws that I'm never going to get to see/sea Malc
  23. thankfully you're all over the covid crap..... well done ................ and now making good use of your Ls400 time take it easy and just chill Malc
