I drove to Switzerland a couple ( 3 ? ) of years back on my way thru to Italy for a month's driving around sightseeing Amazing but not my first time in Swissieland .... a buddy used to work there that I visited a few times ..... he's now resident in Singapore ... too bloody hot for me I stopped off enroute in France overnight ......... leisurely driving methinks Envy you Malc
  6. Ross, you will find a much earlier post I made on here about the radiator, gearbox issue. I met a local guy with his Ls460 He had this issue on his Ls430 and it wrote the car off. He had exactly the same issue with his " new " invincible Ls460 BUT he managed to save the gearbox at a cost of £3500 ( I think ) The good policy is to change the radiator stuff every 100k miles to be sure Malc
  7. likewise too, haven't see another Ls400 ( nor any other Ls for that matter, for a very very long time ) Malc
  8. John, what's this " sticky " you spoke about ? Thanks Malc

  10. they are really starting to ask " big " money for these older cars these days just wonder if they ever achieve anything like the asking prices ! One day my 1995 Mk3 will be worth lots of £'000s I guess ............ or perhaps NOT Malc
  11. Thank you gentlemen, I'll pull this together and find out how best to portray it on here from someone with some Admin knowledge I guess Any offers ? Malc
  12. no it's not you I used to change mine every two years 20/30k miles but these past few years its just NEEDED changing every year guess more pollution around than ever before trouble is all these people with inconsiderate 4ltr+ engines Malc
  13. I'm on 231k miles and never had this issue and really had not expected it other than on the Ls430 and 460 AND I've never read anything on this forum about the Ls400 radiator / gearbox oil contamination Has anybody else ?? Malc
  14. anymore for anymore ??? I'll try to deal with this over the weekend guys Malc

  21. this is why my alternator went pop unexpectedly at 227,482 miles this January past Malc
  22. well that's upped the possible failures list without warning .................... any more likely guys ?? I'll leave it a few days and await anymore issues, then I'll compose it into a proper schedule Thanks one and all Malc
  23. hi everyone just seeing rungrates... terrible failure It occurs to me that a simple list of possible failures like this could be made aware to us His failure was rear Strut BARS ......... not just the bushes and these aren't pulled up as MOT Advisories seemingly Mine has been the ALTERNATOR just going pop and the PAS COOLER PIPE in front of the radiator .... and the mild steel gubbins above too Anyone aware of any other likely miscreants ? I always act upon the MOT Advisories Malc
  24. I'm devastated for you maybe a protem Ls400 that's very cheap with a fresh or long MOT Can you tell me/us if the failure was anything foretold in an MOT Advisory ? I'm very concerned for us with aged cars and maybe I should create a fresh post to highlight events that could occur without MOT Advisories such as: pas pipe at front of radiator just ' going ' alternator just going pop you'rs too issues that cannot be foretold but could be quite catastrophic such as your's Malc
