  1. I've been told cambelt is 10 years on my 2002 SC430. I checked with 2 Lexus garages and they both said the same. Apparently it's about a £500 Lexus bill for the work.

I got my cambelt done along with a service for £600 at Glasgow Lexus. I did use the phrase "is that the best you can do" down from £700.

  2. hi did u get the sc as there is one going thro bca glasgow this week ?

    :winky:

    Hi

I did get one. Travelled all the way to Surrey for one nd got it for a reasonable price. It needed a new cambelt and service £600 at Lexus Glasgow for both. I know its a bit steep but it did not have any service history and my local guy didn't really want to touch it. So i bit the bullet.

Just needs a new O2 sensor now.

  3. no dealer involved, their pricing of these cars tends to be silly/ludicrous.Bought it privately on ebay so I take the car as it stands. It was a very reasonable price (hate the word cheap) and I factored in about £500 to allow for a belt change.I will call into lexus in Reading next week and enquire.

I got a 100,000 mile service and a cambelt change for £600 including VAT through Lexus Dealer. I was qouted much higher but I used that fantastics phrase "is that the best you can do?"

However I cannot get them low enough for a new O2 sensor but I am still working on it.

    Great Car Good luck.

  4. Hi All

I am considering buying a Lexus SC430 if I can find one that is.

However I have been unable to test drive one in the Glasgow area as none of the garages have any.

I know they got slated by Top Gear, however I don't want a racing car I just want something nice to drive.

What what are your thoughts on your cars?

  5. Well guys and gals, after months of searching I found the one I want and it is now sat on the drive.

It's a really nice IS200 SE navigator, in the most gorgeous blue with all the usual SE toys. Got 120k ish on the clock and a full service history with recent major service and cambelt change. 12 month MOT and 6 month tax included. The best part is that it only cost me £2000!

So far, I have only bought a grom unit and a proclip for my iPhone as the usual cd err is present, but I absolutely love it to bits.

First car I have ever had, and I have had a few, that I don't want to go crazy with the mods on.

Now I can officially stop lurking :)

You lucky begger I crashed my Lexus in mid Jan and still waiting for the insurance to be sorted. I have been looking for a few weeks now and can't find many that match my old one.

Oh and fairley sturdy when they land on the roof but not recommend.

  6. A van managed to dent both door in my is200. Bad I know but they did leave their details Yahoo.

The car was park and got hit by a van as it tried to get round a into a tight corner so I don't think it was impacted at any great speed. (No I did not park on the corner).

However took it to the recommended repairer (recommended by their Insur Comp) and say need 2 new doors and a bottom sill. Now my query is I can clearly see the dents high up in the middle of the doors but the sill feels and looks fine.

The garage whats to replace the 2 doors and the sill. I am not convinced that the sill needs to be replaced. Should I get a second opinion as I don't want any unnecessary repairs done to my precious car.

    Not broke don't fix it.
