  1. I'm after a pair of good condition rear discs for my 1991 MK1 LS400 as the discs that are currently on the car are in a very poor state.

I'm after these asap as i'm taking the car on a European charity rally in a couple of weeks so would ideally like to make it back alive!!

If anyone could help it would greatly appreciated.

I'm also after the sub that fits in the rear parcel shelf if anyone has one lying around!

  3. Hi,

You don't give your year of LS but if it's the 90-94 make sure you have plugged the MAF meter back in it's the part between the air filter housing and the air intake pipe to the manifold I believe the intake air temp sensor is integrated into this.

Sorry should have mentioned that it's a 1991! I've plugged the MAF back in but will check the connection again tomorrow. Hopefully it will be something that simple!

I cleaned the connector out today and managed to clear the error code. Thanks for your help!

  5. I've tried him but unfortunately he hasn't got a wing. Looking to get one ASAP but can't find a MK1 wing anywhere...plenty of MK2s around though!!!!

Any other ideas for a cheap replacement?

  6. Honestly don't know on the LS mate - sitting it in lemon juice will probably sort it as it's been contaminated for a short while.

Think the universal one I got reads from 0v to 1v, I think some go higher, someone on here was saying something about some are 4 ohm resistance and some are 12 ohm but that bits beyond me!

Maybe one of the LS guys will know?

Thanks for your help - hopefully an LS guy will be along soon!

  7. Should be ok mate, just like you say it'll be running rich as chuff now.

The o2 sensor will have been coated in a film of the cleaning stuff and all the deposits so probably dead, you could always rip it out and sit it in lemon juice for a day or two as that might sort it.

Might be worth trying a universal o2 sensor and hooking that up as they're cheap and it'll save you a fortune in petrol with the milage you'll be doing!!

Thanks for the advice - I'll try clean the sensors at the weekend. I've seen a few universal sensors around, is there a particular type I need?

  8. yeah i saw that car,

so are the rules £500 plus mot and tax or £500 full stop?

It's £500 for the car then you can spend whatever you want on top of that to make it road legal or modified! Hopefully we'll get away with just servicing it, repairing the damage and fitting a set of IS200 alloys!

The 'rally' will be televised on MTV and Men and Motors and should get local news coverage. I'm happy to put a couple on LOC stickers on the car for a bit of free advertising!

  9. Hi there!

I've just become the proud owner of a 91 mk1 LS400 with 247k on the clock so thought I'd better say hello as it has a few issues that need to be sorted.

I bought the car to enter in to a 3000km charity car rally around Europe called the Scumrun (www.scumrun.co.uk) as I needed something that was fast, comfortable and most importantly cost less than £500! The LS400 seemed to be a bargain at £385, although I fear our fuel bill won't be so cheap....

The car has some damage to the front wing and bumper and I was wondering whether replacements from a mk2 would fit? If not does anyone have any mk1 parts available?

    Cheers

    Gareth

  10. I've just got myself a 1991 LS400 (247k miles!) and have been using this site to help me with some of the maintenance that may have been missed by the former owner.

This afternoon I cleaned out the throttle body and found that the car is now showing error code 21 (main O2 sensor). This error wasn't there this morning so I'm wandering what I could have done to cause it. Could it simply be as a result of some of the deposits I've flush out of the throttle body working their way through the system and fouling the sensor? The car seems to now be running very rich and does not start well from cold.

    Does anyone have any ideas?
