  1. Ok, this is a bit embarrassing, but I noticed today that the mirrors do not dip much in reverse because they are so big that you can see a lot of the kerb in their normal position. The dip just allows you to see the rest of the kerb. Doh. In my defence, I have not driven the car much and only checked on our driveway which obviously do not have a kerb lol
  2. I would ring around the dealers. They may have some if not all of the GFX kit available. Some of the dealers ( Birmingham & Edinburgh) have eBay stores and I have seen the front lips and side skirts listed on there from time to time
  3. Interestingly this question has been asked on a popular American Lexus forum, and apparently it is not possible to alter the angle of tilt in reverse . I know that they may have American RX's may have different options/settings, so it is encouraging that some people on here have managed to alter this angle. My question is, can you clearly see the curb now when the car is placed in to reverse and is this position a big difference to your normal driving position? Our mirrors only seem to move by a couple of degrees.
  4. Thanks for the advice but none of the above seems to work. I want to try and avoid going to the dealer so i will keep looking on the net
  5. Is there a way to increase the amount the mirrors dip when the car is placed in to reverse as they do not seem to dip that much at the moment. I can't see anything in the manual about adjustments so i'm guessing this is a no
  6. Very true, but a quick search on the net also reveals that Lexus are not the only cars with such issues. The latest BMWs Audis and Mercedes all have problems with rattles in their interiors it was just that Lexus used to fix them without a fuss, but it sounds like they are following the other brands.
  7. I have been informed that as of today (1/4/2015) by the Service Manager at my Local Main Dealer that Lexus will only cover rattles in their Manufacturers Warranty if the car is less than 18 months old or up to 20000 miles, which ever comes first. Not impressed if this is true.
  8. Has anyone managed to get their Lexus Connected Services to work through an iPhone?
  9. I cant believe that I am the only one on the EE network trying to get this feature to work
  10. Im sorry to hear that happened but glad you are ok. Is there no way that you can get the car written off being so new and get a new replacement? I would be very upset if my new car got rear ended. I know cars can be repaired well by the right body shop but I would be worried that it will never be quite the same. I have seen nearly new cars with little damage up for sale on auction sites as they were written off by the insurance companies. Rayaans is right. He will get nothing for whiplash!
  11. They are called Hoshi Alloys and were initially offered as an accessory but same standard for the 2010 F sport models. They often come up on eBay. There are non at the moment, but there is a set of these which were the other style offered http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Lexus-IS250-IS220d-or-IS200d-18-Accesory-Alloys-/171237393371?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Car+Make%3ALexus&hash=item27de8b43db
  12. Its a good feature - closing with the fob has been around since 2004, possibly earlier as my 2004 RX300 allowed the tailgate to be closed with the fob too! Anyways - be sure to get us a review on the car and some pics (theyre mandatory) :P The car arrived on Wednesday and so far we haven't really driven it much, just 20 miles because we were waiting to install the Lexus Dog Guard and modify the Lexus boot liner to fit this weekend. We will start using the car from tomorrow so I will have a full review by next weekend. I am also hoping to get some good weather so that I can give it a good clean and put a couple of layers of wax on it. Anyway, from the limited running so far, we are very happy with the car and so is our Great Dane :). I love how smooth everything is and the Mark Levinson system is brilliant ( although this can not be turned up with the dog in the car!). Visibility is good and there is a nice turn of speed when it is required. I am a big fan of the Head Up Display. I initially thought that it was not level so checked it against a spirit level and it was perfectly horizontal. I then realised it was because the dash curved away towards the edge of the windscreen. I am a bit annoyed that the bluetooth phone system does not recognise numbers with the +44 prefix, same problem on our IS250 and easily resolved by removing this prefix on our phones, but annoying nonetheless. I also have not been able to get the Lexus Connective Service feature working as we are both with EE and I cannot find all of the settings on the internet. I refuse to believe that we are the only people with a Lexus using phones on the EE network!
  13. Hi I have been trying to set up the online service on our 2012 RX450h. My mobile provider is EE and unfortunately their settings are not one of the presents, so I have to enter all of the details in, which I can not find . Has anyone managed to set this up for EE? Thanks in advance
  14. Yes the car does have to be unlocked. I was confused to the reason behind this just after I bought the car but it was an eye opener when the dealer told me the reason behind it! Its because some people sit on their keys or press them by accident leaving the boot open outside for intruders or rain to get in. Same with the window opening feature which is disabled to stop people waking up to wet cars after pressing the fob by accident Ah that makes sense. I thought that i had done something wrong! I am happy that you can also close the tail gate with the fob. This is not possible on my friends E class Estate.
  15. The car arrived this morning with a bunch of flowers for my wife. Very happy. I will post some pictures when it is light! Just another quick question. Does the car have to be unlocked for the power tail gate to work via the key fob? All it does it beep when I try to open it with the fob when the car is locked
  16. Yes very annoying. Just seen this on the CT forum though and I did notice this a few months ago on a basic 2014 CT200h hire car, whilst my IS was in for a service, although the menu was worded more like the one on the RX, so that manual posted is possibly for another market http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/98764-2012-se-l-premier-follow-me-home-lights/
  17. Both our IS250s and our RX 450h when it arrives are cared for under the Lexus service plan which I find is not bad value for money. Lexus is a prestige brand so higher then normal prices are to be expected. Yes servicing your car yourself will always save you money and good effort for people that take time to do this. We also have a 2003 Yaris T sport which I enjoy tinkering with but I leave the Lexus cars to the dealers. Each to their own
  18. Thanks for the replies everyone. Car should be with us tomorrow morning but I am at work so wont see it until the evening :(
  19. Our 2011 is 250 Auto locks after 10mph. You can also set it to lock and unlock when shifting out of and in to Park. This, however is not possible on our 2007 model. Its definitely available in the US. Ive been on the ClubLexus forums and asked about it and they can turn it on or off directly from the nav menu under "light settings". They have 5 options there whereas we only have four which is odd Ok so I have heard back from Lexus hull on this matter. Those setting are to adjust the time the DRL, Puddle lights and some rear lights? come on when you open the car with the remote. They are not a 'follow me home' feature.
  20. Not sure what stainless steel trim the SE-L has that the SE does without. The Multimedia system was an option on all grades ( except the ISF where it was standard) and consisted of the reversing camera Sat Nav and Mark Levinson stereo system. Please note that for some reason the Mark Levinson system was no longer available on the MY11 cars with the 'Full Map' system consisting of the reversing camera and Sat Nav being the only option. SR models did not come with 18" wheels as standard. pre MY09 SE-L came with 17" wheels but post MY09 models came with 18" wheels as standard The F Sport was first released for the MY10. This sat below the SE-L model and came with heated leather and suede seats, electric front seats with both driver and passenger memory. Metal sport pedals, 18" Hoshi wheels ISF rear spoiler and front grill. MY11 cars lost the memory seats mirrors and steering wheel column but came with F SPORT 18" wheels and new front spoiler, which can be added to other MY11 grades.
  21. Yup definitely not available on any 2nd Gen ISx. Another feature the Americans get that we don't for some reason
  22. SE-L is the best spec to have with the Multimedia ( not really a rare option) as previously mentioned. The auto box is a delight, but bear in mind, on pre MY 09 cars the paddles do not work unless you shift to S mode on the auto box. Pre MY09 SE-L models all came with mahogany wood trim which may not be to your taste. SE and SR models came with a grey metal effect trim. Post MY09 SE-L model had the option of a black/grey wood trim depending on the exterior / interior colour choice. The SE doesn't come with the bodykit of the SR as you have pointed out but does come with leather heated and electric and vented seats iirc.
  23. Sounds good for Lexus, I'm loving our IS300H. Wouldn't take much to persuade me to swap the BMW for a GS/IS, but I want something with more grunt than the IS300H...I suspect the next generation GS450H wouldn't be due for a few years yet :( But I suppose the more cars Lexus sells, the bigger the development budget for future cars :) Im happy that Lexus remains a relatively rare sight compared to the usual German prestige brands, which i must admit are mostly very good cars, but are just too common nowadays. I read somewhere that back in the 80's BMW classed themselves as a premium niche brand, now I have heard that they refer to themselves in house as ' posh Fords' ;)
  24. Oh man. I spotted this on the test drive and was hoping that would happen when it was selected. Very odd. I will ring Hull tomorrow and ask them to find out before the car is delivered. I will keep you posted. I can imagine that this is a feature available in other countries such as USA and not in the UK for some strange reason. This is the case on the IS250. They probably just forgot to remove this menu for the UK. I will be annoyed if this is the case
  25. Just a couple more questions as we await the arrival of the RX. 1, I assumed that the sat nav has full post code entry as my IS250 does, so did not check on the test drive. Am i correct in thinking this? 2 Does the car have a cambelt or chain? 3 What is the DAB like. Does it pick up a good range of stations and how have people found the signal in general? thanks again
