Toyota and Lexus do make their own cars but what I-s is referring to is that they do not make every component that goes in to building their cars.
-
It is where you need two forms of identification before you can start the car. So I’m guessing it will be the app on your phone on the Tesla which takes the place of a ‘key fob’ plus a pin you input on the screen. The old pre facelift Peugeot 306 from the mid 90’s required a physical key and a pin code to be inputted via a number pad before it would start.
-
This only works on the later gen key fobs ( systems ) and not the one present on the 3RX unfortunately.
-
That’s a very good price, probably as it’s not at a Main Dealer. I doubt it will be there for long.

👍🏾 I think the better quality of the leather the more delicate it can be as it’s been less treated.
-
You need to use a seat protector underneath the car seat or car seat adaptor. I’ve tried both the Maxi Cosi and Diono brands and minimal indentations were left when the seats were removed which fully recovered with out any intervention within a day. No problems with the Lexus leather what so ever.

We have a rearward facing Maxi Cosi Pebble plus and a Maxi Cosi Pearl in our GSF and RX450h. Im 5ft7 and find that there is just the right amount of room in the back as these seats seem to take up an excessive amount of room with their ISOFIX bases. Interestingly we had a BMW 218d Active Tourer 7 seater whilst on holiday and there was no room at all in the front with these seats in place.

Other than the one my parents had as a courtesy car, I have only seen one on the road in Bristol and also one brand new UX on a flatbed around a residential area looking like it was being delivered to its new owner !?

Value

I sold our MY2011 IS250 SE-L with F Sport Front and Rear Spoiler and 110000 miles on the clock for £5950 back in June. It was in very good condition with Lexus Warranty until Nov ‘19 and probably priced too low as it sold within 2 hours of me being back in the country (I advertised it whilst I was on holiday). However it was better than the £4000 I was offered as P/ex against the GSF so I was happy with that. -
The IS250 only had ISOFIX anchor points on the outer two rear seats, which seems to be the case with majority of cars on sale (People Carriers aside) so I doubt that the ISF will have ISOFIX points in the middle. I seem to remember that the IS250 had a top tether for the middle seat on the rear shelf but I may be mistaken.

Paint protection and polish
F.A. replied to Gsf solihull's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Hi Shafiq Firstly welcome to the club. It is nice to see another GSF owner on here. Our 2017 Sonic Titanium GSF had a Diamondbrite Ceramic coating applied to it at Lexus Newcastle when we purchased it in June 2019. Other than the usual stone chips on the front bumper, the paint was in immaculate condition. Two weeks later, the bonnet was covered in Seagull poo, which despite me quickly removing it with Poorboys Bird Sh*t remover left well defined etching in the lacquer. To say that I was annoyed was an understatement, but my Ceramic coating came with a life time warranty against such damage. I contacted Lexus Newcastle who put me in touch with Diamondbrite, however, before I could arrange for them to repair the damage, I noticed that the etching was beginning to fade whilst the car was left in the direct sun. Some fellow members on here mentioned that there was a self healing coat on the car and also that heat carefully applied to the damaged area using a hair dryer can repair / fade the damage. I can confirm that the etching has now completely disappeared without any remedial work, so it may be worth just leaving the car in the sun ( if it ever returns this summer) to see if it fades the damage. -
Not a GS450h but I went from an IS250 to a GSF and we also currently have a 2012 RX 450h. The GSF is currently averaging 20mpg over the 1000 miles that we have covered. That included one 290 mile trip from Newcastle to Bristol ( where it averaged 30mpg with a far from economical driving style) with the remaining miles being around town. I consider this to be pretty good considering the car hasn't even warmed up before I arrive at work and my IS250 averaged around 23mpg over the same type of driving. As a rough comparison, our RX450h averages around 28-30 mpg , again over same type of driving, and we are very happy with this. Insurance wise, the GSF cost no more to insure than the IS250 and less than the RX450h, which I find unbelievable but of course, i'm not complaining!!! The service plan on the GSF also cost less than that on the IS250 which had reached 110000 miles so I guess a big service or two was looming. Warranty wise, the GSF costs the same as the rest of the GS range. Just like @hockeyedwards, we have 0 regrets.

Creaky Centre Dash Plastic
F.A. replied to LordByronUK's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Unfortunately creaks and rattles are no longer covered by the warranty after the first year. So you may need to rely on some goodwill from your dealer to get these fixed for free. -

Protyre aligned our RX last week and it was spot on. They charged £60 for a 4 wheel alignment. I asked Lexus Bristol to carry out the alignment initially but they informed me that they do not have the equipment to carry out the procedure, which I was very surprised about. They kindly pointed me in the direction of Protyre. I had my IS250 aligned multiple times over the 90k I covered in it. I was never able to stop both the outer edges wearing on the front tyres. The dealer seem to think that was normal for an IS. Interestingly our RX seems to be the same. I check the pressures religiously every week so I know they are correct. I am hoping this doesn’t happen on the GSF. -
220d sterio/ IS 250
F.A. replied to JamesIS220's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
It’s a Pioneer system. The IS250 was ULEZ exempt last time I checked back May. I have never driven an IS220d but I do remember all of the issues owner had with them as it was well documented on this forum. The IS250 Auto is a completely different machine. I owned one for the last 8 years and it’s a really good car. It didn’t have any major issues over the 90k I covered in it, just some minor niggles such as a noisy heater fan and snapped wiper mechanism. It is fast enough for everyday driving and the auto box was silky smooth. Rear seat and boot space were two of the main reasons we moved on, the other was the calling of an ‘F’😂 -

I stand corrected. One was a 66 plate then, or maybe there are 3? -
Having owned a 2007 IS250 SE-L with ML and a 2011 IS250 SE-L with the Pioneer system at the same time, in my opinion, the ML system was much clearer with little distortion at all volumes. I also found that it delivered a good amount of base ( and more so than the Pioneer system) although you will probably be a tad underwhelmed if you are coming from a custom system with a 10/12 “ sub!. Just for reference, I listen to Dancehall, Soca, RnB and Hip Hop music via MP3 or CD and I agree that how the system performs does depend on the type of music you listen too. I never listened to the radio so I can’t comment on the quality of sound from that source. Interestingly for some odd reason, I found that music steamed via Bluetooth audio on my 2011 car had more bass than when played via the same device plugged in to the USB port 🤷🏾♂️. I was disappointed that Lexus pulled the ML system from the IS250/200 for the MY 2011 cars and this did initially stop me from purchasing our 2011 model. However the Pioneer system is still very good and you would be non the wiser if you didn’t listen to the systems back to back. The car in the above advert has the pre face lift/original 2IS Sport wheels. A lovely spec with the GFX/ SR body kit.

I think there are only two in the U.K one 65 plates and a 16 plate IIRC. I was very tempted by these back in 2017 when they were for sale at a good price. I think one of the owners was on the Piston Heads forum but I’ve never seen photos of the cars pop up on here. -
@08ISF, I completely understand where you are coming from. The GSF is my daily drive and it rarely hits over 30mph on my way to work. However the sound of the V8 on start up and the fact that I’ve waited so long for an ‘F car’ means that I’ve always got a smile on my face every time I drive it. I used to get nails in tyres for a past time in my IS250 , so when we purchased the GSF, I opted for the Tyre insurance. I only wish I did the same when we purchased the RX!
-
Yes, as above really. We have a 1 and 3 year old and struggled with our old IS250 in terms of boot space and front legroom with the car seats in place and i'm only 5ft 7. So I wouldn't even consider a CT200H with a baby for that reason.
-
Interesting that the photos were on Auto Trader and not their official site. I guess Auto Trader possibly brings in more traffic. I wonder if the new owner will pop up on here?!
-
Yes, this will be interesting. It seems a reasonable price.
