Hi, I am thinking about changing the wife's IS200 for a 220d. For the short time I had my 220d I enjoyed it but no comparison to my RX400.
However, due to fuel consumption and the amount of miles she will be doing from now on, the 220d is going to be the best option.
Problem is I dont know how much to ask and the reason being is the condition and mileage!
Its an 03/2003, blue (best colour IMO) and has done a genuine 23000 miles with only one previous owner to us. It is immaculate to say the least!
Anyone have an opinion as to value as obviously cant come too close to the new shape or can I due to mileage?
Hard one to shout I know but....
Thanks,
John
is it a se or a sport il have a look in glasses guide for you

I have the same thing. Its not loud at all really just not perfect like it used to be and it bothers me. I am gonna have a go at adjusting the belt to see if that works.
Hi Guys,
I have noticed this aswell since the cold weather set in, I think its the power steering belt as i tried to turn the wheel and it went louder when I turned the wheels so mayeb thats the one that neeeds tightend. Think il just leave it and mention it when its MOT'd in March

Hi Guys I have a 04/04 Is200 which I s dur a service soon, I have had the belt done so that doesnt need doing. However what do you guys think needs doing. I am not going to take it to Lexus as don't want to pay the money, I work for a car dealer so I know a mechanic who will do it but he has asked me what i want doing. I was thinking oil and filter air filter, plugs and cabin filter?? would you guys agree or disagree.
2nd Question
What parts would you fit, would yopu buy OEM parts from Lexus and fit them or would go to Andrew page or the like ????
Thanks guys

Im from Scunthorpe, not far from Doncaster... Ive just recently purchased an IS200 '01'
Hi Guys steve from Newcastle upon Tyne driving a 04 is200 LE
-
The wheel specialist in Newcastle is very good. I work for a garage and we send all our wheels to them 207 plus vat for four. They dip them in acid 1st then re finish rather than these mobile guys who just grind them down. If they are rotten like most lexus/toyota wheels are then they need to be dippe dina cid as the rot just comes back

Hey Guys,
I ahev read alot about coil packs going down, I was wondering what kind of age/ milage you would expect to start seeing them going. I have a 04 is200 is this the kind of age when you expect them to go or is it on the older cars???
Cheers

Hi this a daft question,
I ahve just been checking my car over as you do and I opened the oil filler and looked in side and I assume it is the cam shaft that you can see a small section off. This is going to sound daft but mine looks as if it is damaged and rough as if a bit has snapped off and left jaggerd metal. I am no mechanic and the car is running perfectly and driving perfect.
Just wondering if i need to get it looekd at or they are all supposed to be like that. sorry if this is the most stupid post you ahev read but I love my is and don't want to do it any damage.
-
hmmm no idea how to get it.
You'll have to take the connectors out of the fuse panel and then undo it so that you can get to back of it and to the relays.
I have a march 04 is 200 and the dimer switch defo does all the dash lights

Hi Guys,
I have just been informed that I need to replace my front pads. Any suggestions on which kind to fit and what kind of money I should expect to pay. As I don't want to skimp on them as they are pretty important.
Cheers

Hi Guys I had my belt done yesterday by my mate who is a mechanic and works for Audi.
He had to remove the rad and replace the the coolant when I asked what coolant he used he said Audi G12 it is red but a bit darker than the oringinal. Will this be ok ???
-
Hi Guys,
Thanks for your help with the belt issue I had yesterday I have decided to get the emchanic from Honda ( where I work) to do the belt.
Then he said a couple of things I wanted to ask the experts
1 do you need a special lexus/ toyota tool for the bottom pulley???
2 Is the IS200 Engine the same or very similar to the old Toyota Celica engine??
Thanks Guys, I have printed off the walk through pictures on how to change the belt that guide is very good nice one Kev Watkins>
Cheers
Steve

Your Honda tech should be able to change the belt on the IS200, as you say he has 20 years experience of being a tech/mechanic.
Make sure you change the idler and tensioner not just the belt. As most of the front end will be stripped down I suggest you replace the waterpump- its easier to change now rather than later (saves labour/parts costs later).
I got a quote from my Lexus garage 2 years ago and they quoted me £550 to replace the cambelt, idler and tensioner. In the end I bought the parts from Lexus for £120 and did the cambelt change myself (on my driveway) with help from my uncle who is a mechanic by trade.
Yeah i wil buy the kit from Lexus and ask himt o fit it. Any idea how much a water pump will cost are they big money I remember my old corsa one being 45 quid
