  1. My opinion is:

The first moon landing was faked - the americans were so worried about the Russians getting there first, they didnt actually land in the first case.

However, the subsequent landings were actually true..

I also think the Apollo 13 disaster was faked too - people had lost interest in NASA space exploration, and im sorry, but the actual story played out like a hollywood movie (almost as much as the hollywood movie), it just strikes me as a wonderful way to regain interest, and also an excuse to shut down a very expensive process of landing people on the moon...

  2. how do you know its a 1.1 ian?

i'd been taking the michael out of a ridiculous looking corsa in manchester for a while when i ended up next to it at a set of lights. all white, looked a bit silly, 4 zorsts, jap style graphics and logos, massive bodykit etc.

well i have to say it certainly wasnt all show and no go cos it left me for dead and i couldnt keep up with it, it just disappeared! so *** knows what that had under bonnet, but it was similar to when an m3 driver decided to show me he could go faster, a lot faster.

that corsa still gives me nightmares!

well okay, its a 1.4 see here, and I know the VTS is reasonably fast..

But my point is, a majority of the max muppets get a 1.1 Saxo for their first car (mainly cos its cheap to insure) and do that sort of thing to them (without telling the insurance company in most cases)..

It was more to illustrate my point, take one cheap hatchback, add lots of plastic tat etc etc...

Definately my interpretation of most max power readers car.

    This is my interpertation...

Take one 1.1 Saxo, add huge bodykit, lower until scrapes going over smooth flat ground to ensurethe minimal performance is ruined completley

It is absoultely nesacerry to have one exhaust pipe per cylinder, minimum! and your really cool if your exhaust actually has more cubic capacity than your engine.

(and lets not forget the ever important spoiler with a piece missing)

Then for good measure, fill the boot with speakers, adding enough weight so you need every one of your 60 bhp just to move the car...

  4. I'd be careful with the tints, the police come down hard with the front side window tints at the moment, plus you do need to tell your insurance company...

Keep an eye in Buy & sell, the HKS zorsts come up quite often, and go for about £200 a pop, which is about 1/2 price of new..

    The same goes for springs...

It can be a nice cheap way of modding, and you know a club member isnt going to rip you off...

  5. well, it will work on a standard car, but expect gains in the region of 1-2bhp... not really worth it. They are more use for making the most out of other modifications..

considering it costs about £550 - for that you could get a back box which will release somewhere from 4-8bhp (depending on which one) and you'll have enough change for a set of lowering springs to make your car go around corners faster too!

(I would have said induction, but i havent got a clue how much they are).

  6. yes, your right,, the point is if your gona mod a car,, then you gota be unique or original..

I agree completley, however it seems the majority of the 'Max power' and the whole cruise scene seem to be driving around in a Saxo or Corsa that has exactly the same bodykit, exactly the same twin Carbon fibre back box on show, the same sadboy bonnet, the same 'missing piece' rear spoiler...

I understand what your saying Chris, but the problem is, the M3 you mention is 1 in 500 - with a majority of 'show cars' being almost exactly the same as everthing else....

Thats my issue, you see them on E-Bay 'individual' - yeah right, I see more saxos with veilside (rip off) kits than standard ones!

And its unfortuante, because most people tar all car modifiers with the same brush - and just because i have a HKS back box on my IS200, doesnt mean i want to be associated with the muppet who handbrakes his saxo in McDonalds car park every night! :shutit:

  7. if your looking to improve 'performance', I would reccomend an aftermarket exhaust, such as a HKS unit.. you will find that will improve responsiveness and reduce the flat spots..

after that, perhaps an induction kit - only then would you really gain anything from having a 'piggy back' ECU, which could optimise the settings for your modifications.

There are no 'superchips' available, and infact, the only chip you will find will be one of those 'eBay resistance chips', which in fact is a 0.1p resistor that fools the engine and is as much use as a chocolate teapot, and probably just as messy ;)

  8. tell me about it, i'm in a similar position...

but its the estate agents doing all they can to keep the market up, after all, the more a house costs, the more they make...

At the end of the day, its a gamble, but here i have started to see the lower end start to drop (1 bed flats) and thats a good indication of where the market is going to go, obviously the 3-bed house will be last to move due to being the mass market..

Im going to wait it out in my rental...

  9. well Colin, the one group on analysts I dont listen to are the ones linked with Estate Agents, because, shock horror - these are claiming the market will still rise (except the Halifax, who has predicted 'flat')..

I dont listen to the people that are going to provide info to keep the market moving..

And even if its a long term investment Colin, most analysts agree the market will dip and return to this level in the next 6-10 years, so in my mind, why not wait a year for the dip??

    just my 2 cents..

  10. stu, stu, stu..

Forget morgage advice... heres some invaluable advice..

The housing market is cooling, and 75% of analysts are predicting prices will fall, of course none actually agree on when and how much, but if you buy right now, your buying at the peak..

Now you wouldnt buy shares when they had peaked would you?

So why would you do the same with your biggest investment..?

  11. the Dunlop SP9000's are great tyres, but they are summer sports tyres..

They are not designed to handle standing water, snow or ice.. and to be honest, struggle with heavy rain or greasy roads..

Since you live in the country, you really should consider splashing out on a nice set of winter tyres, perhaps Michelin, you will find these will suit your needs better.
