that really sucks, sorry to hear that mate..
-
well, in all honesty, he's made a fortune from being an opinionated motoring journalist... and its more about 'showmanship' than anything else..
I dont think anyone really takes what he says seriously, especially him, and the end of the day, he just wants to get viewers, sell magazines and DVD's, cos thats how he makes money... fair play to him...
-
congrats...
-
I've got one of the Halfords buffers...
all i'll say is, you get what you pay for - s'alright, but you need to go round again afterwards, but does take the hard work out of it...
In all honesty though, i only use it on the Lex when im doing a quick wash and polish - if i want a proper job, i still do it by hand ;)
-
Andy, i'd say email steve with them first, just in case...
-
yeah, i got the same email - cant say im desperate to try it ;)
-
your probably right!
So many websites in my head im starting to get confused! : :duh:
That said, i think tune-a-car have some nice kits too....
-
well, Pete has an offer on the HKS kit - would be very unique...
The Blitz front splitter is available from www.tuneacar.co.uk, along with the 'Tezza' kit..
-
well, considering, what, 75% of all SUV's are driven by 'school run mums' it will be a big hit ;)
Oh except it doesnt have the footballers wives look that the X5 pulls off, so probably not...
-
As I said in the other thread mate.
You will probably find, because the Harrier is an import, the insurance is likely to be higher than the RX300 anyway..
-
To be honest Ronan, the fact it is an import will probably mean the insurance will be higher than the larger engined UK spec model ;)
-
That still doesnt justify them driving without insurance!
-
Nearly one-third of all young drivers have driven without insurance, and 13% think it is acceptable because “it doesn’t harm anyone” – according to the shocking findings of a new survey. It is estimated that at any one time five percent - 1 in 20 - of drivers on British roads are uninsured.Despite these figures, it is estimated that just 16% of the UK’s uninsured drivers are convicted every year.
Although there are the suggestions that police should have the power to sieze and destroy un-insured cars.

thats not actually slander - the claiming he gave Ford positive reviews because he recieved a car free of charge was the slander (unless of course you can prove it is true)

chill lads
clarkson obviously has biased views
a bit like us really
would we moan if he slagged the BMW off
at the end of the day he is an entertainer, i dont think anyone would buy a car soley on his recommendations
:)
Yeah, that was my thinking, so he got the 0-60 wrong and didnt like the car, so what, he's a journalist, and as opinionated as the rest of us..
In all honesty, some of the posts above amount to more slander than simply his error in stats... :shutit:

I think Mat is reffering to either the IS350 or perhaps a coupe/convertiable?
-
when I bought mine, you didnt see many on the road - add to that, the fact you get so many features, such as heated seats, sunroof etc, that would set you back 5-10 grand on any other marque, throw in the ledgendary Toyota reliability and you have a car thats hard to fault...
That isnt to say there arnt faults, but your mentioning of the 'history', while valid here in Europe, where car buyers seem to think if a car company was wonderful 50 years ago (eg maserati) then that makes their cars today so much better.
The Lexus brand was initially aimed at the US market, which doesnt have these similar views, and in fact, most major japanese (and US) car manufacturers have 'luxury' brands in the US, and these sell very well as most US buyers care more about reliability and value for money than how long a company has been running. (No surprise bearing in mind the US is only a couple of hundred years old itself).
I guess what i'm trying to say is, there are those that will buy a car based more on the badge than the car, such as Mercedes, BMW's or Jaguars.. whereas, Lexus buyers tend to buy the car more than the badge....

From Lexus GB web siteThe RX400h will accelerate seamlessly from 0-62mph in just 7.6 seconds, yet boasts the fuel consumption figures of a family saloon, returning 34.9mpg in the combined cycle. The new Lexus produces CO2 emissions of just 192g/km
The existing RX300 stats are:
0-62mph in 9.0 seconds
23.2 mpg combined cycle
CO2 288g/km
34.9 MPG isnt actually that good, surely? Other Hybrids are returning 60+ (albeit with smaller engines)
But, other hybrids = Prius and Insight...
Not exactly in the same league as the RX now are they.. You need to compare the 400h to the eqivalent SUV diesels for a true comparison..

I dont.....
Washed the car this morning (needed to get rid of all that horrid corrosive salt), and guess what - stone chip in a 3rd wheel!!!
-
happy birthday.

Just watch the A59, its a dangerous road on a good day...

I have the TomTom Nav 3 Bluetooth with my IPaq 1945, and havent had any problems (well except one unrelated to the technology), infact, it was so good, one of my mates saw it and bought one..
Apparantly, he's taken into London without any issues, and i find it works fine, no issues with the speaker volume or anything..
-
Well, 3 years, not so much as a scratch or scrape...
Now, thats 2 different wheels, kerbed in the space of a month!
In the immortal words of Homer J Simpson..
D'oh

cool.. looking at new finance.
I remember seeing something like
pay 3 or 4k deposit (your old car)
then 199 or maybe 299 a month then after 3 years you pay 8K.. but you dont really pay the 8k in cash.. you PX for a new lex
deal sounded really good
Isnt that PCP or something? :shutit:
Where you put a deposit down, have monthly payments, and have a final settlement figure, along with a guaranteed value at the end of the loan - when you can choose either to pay the final payment and own the car, or give it back (or as you say, get another)
