Duck, dive, dodge and duck

well, both the 1100 (measured) and 1600 (predicted) are huge figures..
To compare... the new BMW M3 develops 269Lb/ft of torque (365Nm)..
-
Depends on what you want from a hotel...
If you look to the North of the city, there are some reasonable hotels at good prices, areas are okay but nothing special - but they have Metro links to the centre..
if you want more info, let me know..
-
I've quickly made a map of possible meet areas before the circuit, incase anyone is interested...
The m4 arrow, is from Junction 17 M4 - you just take the Chippenham/Castle Combe exit and follow in down, the roundabout shown is the first you come to.
From the south - if your coming from Poole/Warminster - you'll be coming up the A350, as shown...
Two possible meet places are shown as stars - one is next to the hotel Jiber is staying at - that is next to a pub, and just up from the little chef/esso garage - fed off the roundabout.
The other is to the south - a McDonalds/Sainsburys..
Or we could just meet at the circuit about 8am... probably easier...
-
i'd say 30-40 minutes early on a saturday morning....
-
Just a quick 'head count'.
The circuit is open for the stands from about 7:30am. Who is planning on arriving at around 8am - and would you be interested in meeting 'en route' to the circuit - or just follow the signs and meet on the stand?
-
Okay Mat.
I will give you a call in the week to let you know if something is arranged..
-
Oh, and a warning to all...
the speed limits have recently dropped around that way, so keep your eyes open!
-
Hi Mat.
Erm.. are you coming from Warminster or London?
I imagine, either way, you will be coming from the A350 (I was thinking of making a meeting point along that way), so you just stick to that road, follow the signs to Castle Combe..
It will be the first entrance for you.. on the left.. it is hidden, so you do need to keep your eyes open
-
sorry to hear about the Z dave - kinda glad i didnt get one now..

Just spoken to Japfest (again) this morning. Everything is cool. Tickets will be sent out to me soon and I'll pass them on.
For those of you who kow Castle Combe Circuit, they have expanded the car club areas up to Quarry Corner as they have had loads of requests.
Thats where we will be, along with another 250 cars!
Looks like this is going to be a cracker!
Zee. :)
Okay...
so this means, if you are coming from J17 then this is the first entrance (marked spectators)
-
it is, there are the brown signs all the way from the M5 - just make sure you go in the correct entrance...
speaking of which, Zee, is our stand not near quarry this year?
-
I live near there mate - the pub next door is quite nice..
If you fancy meeting up for a drink or two, let me know..
-
Entry price is £15 for the whole weekend and includes camping, for those that are coming for only 1 day the price is £10 and all prices are per car and it is payable on the gate.

We managed to do all of the mapping on our Rototest rather than going elsewhere to do it, by undertaking the testing in 6th gear (which is over driven).
The downside to this is that you can't get an accurate power figure when testing in an over driven gear, but our main priority was to get the mapping done rather than obtain an accurate power figure.
The Performance Certificate that we have issued (in 6th gear) shows 409.2 hp at the hubs with the cat installed. We would expect this to show around 480hp at the hubs using a direct 1:1 gear with the cat installed, and around 500hp at the hubs with the cat removed. This equates to around 600hp at the flywheel which is what we would expect according to the specification of the car. To get an accurate power figure in a direct gear will mean going to somewhere like Abbey Motorsport who have one of the biggest dyno's available, or waiting for our upgrade which is even bigger.
Technical explanation for those interested: The torque is the actual work done by the engine. Power is just a calculation derived from the torque and engine speed. The torque from the engine is multiplied by the gear ratios and the axle ratio, so to take the Monster as an example, the torque being applied to the hubs is actually 1108 lb-ft in 6th gear, and way in excess of 1600 lb-ft in a direct gear, which is an enormous amount, so it is not difficult to understand why weak links such as the rear toe control arms and other things can suffer.
one word.
wow.

People that don't show any courtesy ............... IE "thanks for giving me way" etc ........
Just a slight raise of the hand .... it's not hard is it.
c'mon - one hand has their phone, the other a coffee - your asking a bit much there!
-
what annoys me when driving...
all these other people USING MY ROAD and getting IN MY WAY and just generally existing...
;)
-
well, Im aiming for 8-ish.
oh and Chris, please tell me your not bringing sophie..
-
indeedy.
It seems its open to the public at 9am - but cars can show up as early as 7...
-
well, the 2JZ-GTE is the 3 litre twin turbo from the Supra...
-
i didnt know that Rod, cheers! (since i have just joined RAC on a 2 for 1 offer)
I think the insurance-based breakdown cover is a rip-off - compare them like for like and your paying 10-25% more just to get it through your insurance company..
-
yeah - its a gimmick, and all it will mean is you have to find a garage that does it if your tyres start to deflate...
-
okay.. having finally gotten some cover after about 3 or 4 years I wondered whether anyone else has breakdown cover on their Lexus?
They are notoriously reliable - but not infallable - so are you covered?
