  1. My adsl connection is there - my router confirms its connected at 500kb/s

    yet...

i cant get more than a couple of kb/s rate - IE can only download a few images, and more often than not, says page cannot be found - probably due to response times.

I called my ISP - and there having BT check the exchange - but can anyone help, as im back on dial-up at the moment, not exactly great for working!

  2. the sport is really only worth about £100/200 above the SE spec..

The only mechanical difference is the LSD, the rest is splashings of chrome..

me, i'd go for lower mileage anyday - and to be honest, if you could stretch to £7500~8000 i'm sure you could find a 2000 (x) SE with about 50k with FLSH...

  3. Spotted!

Blue T-reg GS300 sport, parked close to bus stop 2 at Heathrow Long Stay car park - both on Sunday and Thursday this week...

And most importantly - it had a club sticker in the back window...

  4. well, it depends on what you want, and how much your willing to spend..

you could pick up a reasonable 2000 car for around £8k (make it 9-10 from a dealer though).

    A 3 year old for under £15k...

Have a look for the revision thread - to see if there are any features you want (curtain airbags etc), that will help narrow down the year best for you....

But my advice - Full service history - average mileage, cant go wrong, they are very reliable, well built... and just bear in mind, with a new one on the horizon, the newer the car you buy, the bigger the depreciation hit you'll take...

  5. I've just discovered my MoT ran out a, erm, couple of weeks ago!

So tomorrow im going to get on the phone to try and get it in this week (need the car at the weekend) to get it tested...

Am I going to have any probs with the testers? I imagine this is quite a common problem..

  6. no MFI around here mate....

although in all honesty, i've only been in Ikea once, and really dont want to again - its just a shame they have the style of furnature i like..

does anyone know the approximate load space if you remove the headrest and fully recline the passenger seat?

  7. yeah - but there is no way i'm adding a trailer or roof bars to my car!!

And thanks for the offer Barrie, but i think its a bit too far...

oh, why cant ikea do online shopping - although argos is another option, but i find their furniture cheaper and flimsier...

  8. nice idea - just has a couple of flaws...

    1. finding somewhere that does same day deliveries

    2. finding everything i want in that one place...

    3. the cost...

To be honest, i think the best bet is going to be hire a van for a day...

  9. Okay, i'm sure your all aware of the load space issues in the IS...

Which for me, isnt normally a problem...

Except, when i do finally move into my new house - im going to need DIY and IKEA stuff (such as stepladders, free standing lamps, shelves, table and chairs etc)...

and this is where the IS falls flat on its face...

So - the options I have found so far...

    1. Hire a van for a day, try and get everything in the single day - hope Ikea actually has stock.

    2. Vauxhall 3 day test drive - would need to plan far in advance, and know when it would be best, but could get Zafira and save the rental cost...

    3. Pay through the nose for delivery..

I do have DIY stores locally, and worst case, one of them is walking distance (just at the bottom of a steep hill!) - but Ikea is a good 30-45 min drive...

So, i was hoping the ever resourceful LOC would be able to offer other ideas to how I may solve this dilemma..
