  1. I was a bit bored last night and could do with a good laugh so I messaged Lexuschap on Ebay to ask what he would give for my freshly MOTd, '99 LPG Celsior.... £500 tops he replied. Hahaha he does have a good sense of humour :)
  2. Thanks for that. I have signed up with japamart. They seem fairly cheap compared to others I have seen.
  3. Since getting a climate control unit for the Celsior is a rather expensive option, I was thinking................... I still have a fully functioning Ls400 nav unit. It might be possible to adjust this so it will fit the Celsior. If I can get the plugs of a ls400 (with wires attached) and can find a pinout and wiring diagram for the nav unit and stereo for both....it might work? Maybe........
  4. No worries Steve. I have been in contact with 1 agent in japan and they want $250 shipping!! Even from Japan that is quite extortionate.
  5. Just back from the Celsior's MOT and she passed with flying colours :) A bit of a risk when I bought her without MOT, but a few weeks later and several £100s lighter, the result is there :)
  6. in general metallic paints do not fade because they are protected by several layers of clear lacquer. Contact Autopaint St Helens. They will have your exact code in their system and will send you an exact match. I have used them for years and they are always excellent.
  7. Trying to get a climate control unit for my 1999 Celsior. None in the UK, a few Ls units in the US, but I reckon they don't work properly as they are LHD. I saw a few on Yahoo auctions Japan, but it seems hard to buy from there when you're in a different country..... If anyone here has one. I recall someone in Ireland has a non-nav 400......I'd be happy to swap it for a ls400 Nav unit
  8. There's a great facebook group about the 1uzfe engine. A world of knowledge there about fitting the 1uz in a different car. Also a lot of knowledge about getting more horses from it.
  9. As far as I know the aerial and radio are on the same fuse. Radio no 2 fuse on the driver's side fuse box above the acc pedal
  10. Ah yes. BMW do make the odd car. My 2007 E65 730d popped up an error every time I used the wrong type of dash cleaner, or when the hoover was too loud...or when I was wearing the wrong colour socks.....
  11. Started her up a few times today as well and still no click-click. I really hope it was the battery. I honestly don't care that I spent £13.50 on a repair kit I might not need :)
  12. I do like the look of a lowered 400 with a nice set of wheels. Unfortunately, here in the UK, the market for such cars is rather small compared to the US. They also change hands for a lot more cash over there - even in stock form. The first picture you put up is from a car currently listed on Swapz. Nice car, but has been on there for quite some time now http://www.swapz.co.uk/swapz/5461661/Lexus_LS400_V8_auto_bagged_airride_stance_vip/
  13. Personally I don't think any Ls400 is worth £5k at the moment let alone 6 or 7. It hasn't reached a classic status and isn't very popular. To most people it's just a big engined, gas guzzling dull saloon.
  14. Maybe I don't need to do this anymore... Put a new battery in today and voila...no more click click :)
  15. Here's how I found it. Horrible things those scotch locks.....
  16. Was a brand new battery I put in. I've fixed it :) Turned out someone had fiddled with the wires going to the ignition/immobiliser and one had snapped! Why can't people who have no clue just keep their chubby fingers OFF a car :tsktsk:
  17. Got a shiny new battery from Toyota today as my old one was flat. Connected new battery and the horn started sounding. Managed to switch this off by pressing unlock on the remote. Then went to start the car and it just cranks. Tried several 'dance routines' mentioned on several forums, but none of them work. anyone any ideas?
  18. From what I have read, the ls400, when first introduced to the US market, was very cheap. So cheap that BMW accused Lexus of selling the LS below cost.
  19. This was the easy part. Hooking up an equalizer, 2 amps and then all the wiring will be harder :)
  20. The fact that people comment on the 430 in a good or bad way is always a matter of opinion and most of the comments on here are based on experience. I have owned a 430 and will never buy one again. NOT because of a bad experience, not because of something major went wrong. Just because I don't like the exterior. I thought that the added gadgets and interior wood would convince me....it didn't! With my '90 400 and '99 celsior I always look back when I enter my house. Never had that with the 430 And to call members tedium......not a good choice...
  21. A Ls400 with decent springs and dampers is the same fun to drive around as a 430 with that setup. The w220 Mercedes is probably worse for air suspension failures than the 430 will ever be. yet I owned one a few years ago and it was great. It's like with every 'old' car - things can go wrong and the more gadgets are involved, the more expensive it gets.
  22. A: The 400 does not need to cool the transmission under normal conditions. When you use the 400 for towing it's a different story. I'm fairly sure a few members here using their 400 to tow a caravan have had an oil cooler fitted.
