  1. That's the subwoofer and speakers fixed as well. There's a proper BOOM from that Mark Levinson unit :) Not a clue why, but after fixing the speakers, the head unit seems to remember it's settings again. An LS seems to fix itself when you give it a little push :)
  2. The Ls400 is at least 2 inches wider than the cx 25 - a no go I think :)
  3. If you go for a taller sidewall and keep the same width, your speedo will be off. Here's a handy website that does the calculations for you www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html
  4. Then, over here in Scotland, You have 1 day a year to buy a car :)
  5. In my defence.....I did put up a post asking if anyone was near or in Luton to go have a look :)
  6. I did manage to get the door card off. Well, I managed to get a big enough gap at the top to be able to get my hand in and pull the cable to unlock the door. New lock / actuator mechanism fitted and all is working perfectly again :) 1 thing less on the list oh and 'fixed' the tilt motor issue too. Not exactly fixed, but took the steering wheel and shaft off, manually wound the tilt motor up so at least it's not blocking my view anymore.. The sub will need a repair as the foam/rubber ring has completely let loose Will have a look at the door speakers tomorrow
  7. Cheers for that. Just checked and there is no mention of it at all
  8. A common area to leak. It is also the pipe itself that causes the leak. These usually have very tiny holes in them due to rust which also causes the hose not to fit properly anymore. It is indeed the low pressure side of the PS system and, in case of fluid loss, a simple top up and turning the wheel to full lock both ways, several times, will bleed the system.
  9. Even if the fiddling with mileage is the only indisputable case - that on it's own is enough reason to stay well clear.
  10. Thanks guys :) Of course I bought this car unseen - I never learn :( Even though the car is very nice, I have come across a few faults. -The steering wheel tilts down but not up - the top half of the wheel blocks my vision so I can only see if I do 50 or 140 mph :) -The passenger side door speaker crackles badly -The sub is pretty much dead apart from the occasional fart -The rear passenger door does not open from out- nor inside (replacement door lock mechanism in boot, but I reckon that'll be a job and a half to get the door card off with the door closed) - The Mark Levinson unit does not remember the sound settings (bass, treble etc) I hope I won't find anything else
  11. Oh nice Ian. A good day today to take your new toy out. Tomorrow supposed to be nice as well. and yes Chris....I will keep you posted :)
  12. My 'new' Lexus. Always wanted a 400 in this colour and never succeeded. I guess the 430 will do then :) 118k miles Timing belt done at 103k Full service history Pretty much immaculate inside and out
  13. Looking to buy a LS430 in Luton. I'm all the way up in Scotland and would be extremely grateful if someone who lives there could take the time and effort to have a look at this car. I'll be happy to reimburse you for your expenses/time.
  14. I have messaged him about this and his reply was that he's a computer guy and not a mechanic. He told me he went on a forum with his issue and it was established there that it was a gearbox leak. ....
  15. This car is only about 15 miles from me - hmm very tempted
  16. I would take a look, but I might insult the guy :)
  17. YAY one for sale only 20 miles away from me....but ahem..you be the judge :) Ebay item number - 271735829047
  18. I agree it would always be possible to put it in neutral, BUT imagine a 27 year old 'soccer mom' having this experience. Would common sense overrule panic at that time? I'm not sure...
  19. The only one that will be off the road (temporarily) will be the Jaguar as it needs a spot of welding :)
  20. yes, still got the mkIII and the S-class. Going to buy an 1989 Jaguar XJ40 tomorrow. I need more parking space I reckon :)
  21. Interesting. I am in negotiation with someone at the moment for a 430.
  22. I'll give it a miss - I hate giving money to respectable sellers, let alone dodgy ones :)
  23. Just saw he has a green mkIV listed for £1000 - I'm looking for a mkIV...shall I take the chance? :)
