I think the difference is that in Europe (I know this is the case in Holland) you insure the car rather than the driver.
In the UK on most policies one is allowed to drive a car that is not owned by the policy holder on a third party cover.
Holland also doesn't know the 'added driver' principle. Anyone (even without car or insurance) can drive any insured car providing you have a valid license.
In UK terms this would mean that the insurance currently on the car becomes invalid as soon as you take ownership of the car.
I've contacted the guy last night and he's sure he also removed the nav boot stuff so he's having a look in his garage today to see if he can find it.
If he does, he will include it for free.
Great result - now let's hope he finds it :)
I owned a 2007 BMW 730d in the beginning of the year.
I can easily say that that car was one of most unreliable cars I have ever driven.
Every week an other error popped up on the display.
Quick back to Lexus it was :)
Took it for a spin earlier and apart from a knock at the driver's front it drives pretty much perfect.
Having the mk1 to compare you REALLY notice the difference in power.
Ambermarine,
I have managed to find a Ls400 nav unit complete with the cassette bit underneath. Unfortunately he doesn't have the stuff that goes in the boot as he bought an accident damaged Ls for the engine and only took a few other parts out.
I've had a 430 at the beginning of the year and must say I'm glad to be back in a 400.
Okay the 430 has more gadgets and more wood inside the cabin, but also more gremlins.
Plus, I prefer the shape of the 400. To me the 430 doesn't look as classy.
it was, but it's not working.
The only thing working is the clock and the buttons around the screen light up when I switch on the lights.
No radio, cd and no fan or heating either
The satnav in my recently acquired Celsior is not working.
Previous owner has fiddled with it as most of the screws were missing and it was hanging loose in the dash :tsktsk: :tsktsk:
I don't suppose the satnav for the Ls400 is interchangeable?
Not siding with anyone here, but you can't provoke someone by asking questions like: "Are you saying that you did not try more than once to sell this item while being a Gold Member? Did you only try the once to sell?" Then closing off with: "Now please let that be an end to the matter. Mike.".
Just saying...
Oh no - When Jeremy used a Ls400 for target practice in his video, I wished his crotch would get infested with the fleas of a thousand camels and his arms too short to scratch :)
oops ...2 points now?
As far as I know the security / immobiliser code is stored on the chip inside your key / fob.
You might need to switch ignition on and off (or similar procedure) to start the car after reconnecting the battery, but the code will not be lost.
