I'll look in now and then, this is still, by far the friendliest forum I've been a member of.
-
Well, after some problems at home, I decided to reduce my payments a bit, and changed the F-sport for a Volvo S60 R-Design D4, full of options, Acc, lane departure, blind spot monitor, keyless entry, pedestrian detection, nav, heated seats. The 5 cylinder diesel is a gem, overall I am happy, and not missing the Lexus as much as I thought, the acc is fantastic, and something I have wanted for years.
-
Other than our 300h's, I think the best alternative (at present) is the Vauxhall Ampera, where the engine is used mainly to charge the motor, much like the diesel/electric principle on trains. Now I don't know much about them, but a claimed 300mpg is mentioned?, and it's a perfect compromise.
-
I'm thinking more for a single journey, I've set up both trips as mentioned, but it will reset as soon as the car is switched off, annoying if I'm half way through a journey.
-
Is there a way to stop the trip computer from reseting every time the car is turned off, I remember my VW only doing it if the car was turned off for two hours I think.
Gets a bit annoying if I have stopped for a short break on a long trip, only to find it reset, just means I can’t get an mpg figure for the whole journey.

I Think the sport mode brings the car to life, with the lever over to manual mode too that is, the changes seem instant, not twin clutch quick, but it does give a good impression of changing gear, although I’m not sure if it really is, being CVT, if you get my point.
Still good enough to have some fun with, now and again.
-
I actually think it looks ok, I noticed one the other day, and thought it looked really nice, although the IS, is still by far the best looking of the bunch.
-
45, Mine is an F-sport, but I still get the wife calling it an old mans car. She’s always falling asleep in it though, must be her age.
-
The Q50 will be the first car I look at, when I’m due a change. Maidstone is 20mins away from me, so I don’t think I’ll be able to resist having a look soon.
-
I remember when the first LS came out, I was working in a garage at the time, for a large company, and the directors had them. I have not driven another car as refined as that, the story was, put a glass of water on the engine and it will not ripple, I seem to remember it being true.
I’m not comparing that against the IS though, two different cars. I love my IS, but it could be better, most cars could be better. But its still one of the best looking cars, as was the 2nd gen IS.
Talking of mpg, the new BMW I8, is supposed to reach over 100mpg, but real world is 40-50. Its bordering on fraud if you ask me. We should ask for our money back, if they don’t achieve the figures stated.

My fav wheel of all time, timeless. I had 19” staggered on my 320, I think they would suit the IS too, although I am not going down that route again. Have an Escort RS1600i to fill my time up now.
-
I think so. They were willing to sort it out, but not pay my local dealer to do it.
-
I have a wheel that is a different shade to the others. I took it to my local dealer, who looked into it and couldn’t find any history of it being refurbed, or replaced. Lexus uk didn’t want to know and left it to the dealers to sort out, with the option of me having to go to swindon (where I bought it) from Kent to have it resolved.
I contacted Lexus customer relations, and said that, if no history can be found on the wheel being replaced or refurbished then why isn’t it a warranty claim?. The outcome was, they have offered to cover the cost of a refurbishment. I don’t think Lexus are light years ahead, it depends on who the dealer is really, I didn’t expect to have to chase around and have to speak to customer relations.
I had an Audi before the IS, and I got to know the service advisor quite well, who often went out of the way to help me, with costs and servicing etc, my parting e-mail to him was, if Lexus are as good as he has been to me then I will be very happy.
-
I wish it could be turned off at night, I like driving with the display off sometimes, but I can always see that clock out the corner of my eye.
-
Mine is ultra blue, not my first choice, that was sonic titanium, but this one came up at a fair price. Although I was unsure to start with, I have only seen one other Ultra Blue IS, in 6 months.
-
Theo87, how many miles has your car done, if its still low, that may be why your not getting high MPG. Mine is on 20k, and I got 58.9, over 130 ish mile journey, so it is possible.
-
Trip home from Coventry to kent today, mainly Motorway and around 10miles A roads, the dis showed, 58.9, I’m chuffed with that, around 55-70 Mph.
And only see one other 3rd gen IS, a 250. Had a little smile, knowing how much fuel he must of been using. And I still adore the 2nd gen IS250 in Messa red.

I want to put it in EV mode and creep up on someone and make them jump :hohoho:
-
Been playing with sport mode and paddles a bit this week, and to be honest, it simulates the gear changes ok and with the ASC, I like it, good enough for me.
-
I don’t have a problem with the gearbox, and in sport mode, the car is a lot faster than you expect. Furthermore I would much rather put up with an occasional whine from the Gearbox (I’ve not heard that yet, I might add), than the constant clatter from a 4 cylinder diesel engine.
Most reviewers drive these cars like they are on a race track, and that is not comparative to real world driving, so I take most reviews with a pinch of salt to be honest. if you like it, go for it.
-
They are warm at best, and over a very small area, I keep thinking they are on the lowest setting. Oh, one more thing, the foot brake/ parking brake gets in the way, I wish it had an electric park brake.
-
The heated seats are rubbish, it’s the biggest disappointment or me on this car, the ones in the Audi were fantastic, for me, the heated/vented are no better than the 07 IS I had. Small price to pay though, its a great car otherwise.
-
Reading this thread, has changed my mind a little, if I finance the balloon payment, Ill be paying more than I am now, so it makes sense for me to set a little bit aside and use it for a deposit on another car, maybe a 6-12 month old one again, the monthly payments now are about as much as I want to spend.
-
I think its probably the transport company that did it, and not Lexus or the dealer, I don’t think for one min, that a Lexus dealer would release a car with that kind of damage. Not acceptable though.

Thanks all, I'm pleasantly surprised with it tbh, 50 mile trip today returned 55mpg, so hope to get over 700 miles from the tank.
