Any reason why you went for the diesel?
Mileage. Just mileage.
The Merc was my first diesel. I was surprised at the performsnace and the mpg. The BMW consistently gives 44-48 as an average (Or so says the system!) and I could easily get 54-57 motorway cruising on a long run. Last year a 1000 mile round trip to the Vendee in France returned 53mpg.
The old IS was giving me 28-29. But someone else (the company) was paying for the fuel!
Longer between trips to the petrol station, better economy...

Well I had my beautiful IS200SE for 3 years (03 plate, company car) and loved every minute. Changed jobs and got a Merc C220 with the job. Automatic, very comfy but no fun. Then I moved to a Beemer 318D M Sport so no power but lots of M badges. Nice drive, not fast but still got me a few extra DVLA points - oops.
Any how... I had the BMW for a year and it's time for a change.
So I just had to come back to Lexus.
Just placed an order for a new IS220D. No extras, just the stock car (own car, not company now). They reckon 10-14 days, can't wait.
So hello to you all, I'm back (Not that anyone would remember me I'm sure)!

Lost 2 family members in Auschwitz and we're not Jewish... just Polish
Treblinka was built on land originally owned by my family so this is very close to me. My great grandfather and his brother lost everything - it was a succesful gravel pit and forestry business.
The Nazis didn't leave in such a hurry from Treblinka so were able to destroy most of the evidence. There are people living in the nearby village who still remember what happened.
I've been researching my family history for a while and as a result the holocaust in general.
I watched the TV yesterday and despite being very British and not jewish it was difficult to watch. All those black and white photo's, all those innocent lives.

Had my dealer fitted set for 22 months. No problems and they look great at night!

IS200SE March 03. Had the wheels change due to corrosion. Other than that - nothing. Not even a new bulb.
-
55,000 miles in 21 months. The alloys corroded but were replaced. Other than that not a single problem. No knocks, creaks, squeeks. Just a big cheesy grin every time i get in it.

Done it!

Same happened to mine. Dealer swapped them - no questions asked.

Warranty is 3yrs/60k. I'd still ask though. As it's a known problem they may be more sympathetic! Mine went at around 12 months/37k. Swapped out no problem. Didn't matter that one had been kerbed by my wife!!!!

Wife won't drive an IS200 Change the wife :D

1 year, 38000 miles and still got the big cheesy grin. Hope it never stops!

Kept happening to me on the same roundabout. Use a different route now

I'm also on the service every 3 months loop. Haven't had to fill the washer bottle yet.
Only had the bonnet up twice, since march, to show people the engine...

welcome mate, you are a lucky man ,my wife cant stand my 200,
Time to trade in the wife then :winky:

Let's face it a bad drive in a Lexus is better than a good drive in most other models :winky:

Whats a full tank of petrol?
About 440 miles in mine :D

Blue Peter really rubbed off on me
Did you report him?
Nice job, not to my taste but a fine job nonetheless!
-
Most of the things I'd like are minor things:
One shot windows all round,
Radio stuff on steering column
Auto lock when car starts moving
A wife that doesn't kerb your front wheen (only joking :D )
Split folding rear seats (Oops - isn't that the sportcross?)
Driver door only opening
Quite frankly I love the beast.
-
Hope you managed to keep your cool.
Oh yes. After all I am a gentleman

My IS200SE was delivered with mats from the leasing company we got it from. I complained and hey presto the original Lexus mats turned up. Definately better quality that the lease co's.
My lease company charged extra for the genuine Lexus mats
Have put my name down for the mat group buy in Gold!
Miserable bas :tsktsk: ards

Is it me or do girls not understand men and motors
Yesterday I gave the IS a good clean. Noticed that the front nearside wheel had been kerbed.
Didn't understand it. I couldn't remember hitting/rubbing/scraping anything. P :tsktsk: ssed me of big style, ruined my day.
The marks aren't bad. I could swap it for the spare.
My wife came home and "noticed" I was troubled... I explained... "Oh, ah, urm. I think it was me. I did look but didn't see anything... it's only a wheel after all - whats the big deal"
Only a wheel! Only a wheel!

Thanks for all the advice. I appreciate the mpg will not be as good. Shame but never mind.
Well, she arrived yesterday.
No sign of the rattles, or shaky mirror yet. But then I haven't really driven her yet.
She looks good and my wife and daughter like her!
