  1. You need to get a special thingy or your OEM satnav won't work at all. I'm sure that someone who knows more about this will be along to tell you exactly what you need (I think it's a box of tricks from Hando), or I'll post a link if I can find one.
  2. Ah ok, I don't have airbags there, maybe someone else will be able to comment as to whether it's feasible/safe with airbags.
  3. Good stuff. I've got the same head unit, and I passed the microphone cable under the driver's side of the dash (using a cable tie to secure it there) and then up inside the pillar trim on the driver's side by the windscreen (the trim easily pulls off). I used a tip from Johnboy and made a clip for the microphone out of a cable tie (the one that comes with it is far too big) and used that to secure it at the top of the pillar trim. Works great !
  4. The manual in my car (1999) says that if the key fob battery has died, you should open the driver's door with the key, start the engine and wait 10 seconds. It doesn't say what happens after 10 seconds, presumably the alarm stops sounding after that time ?
  5. Does anyone have any experience of how these two different types of festoon LEDs compare, for use in the interior dome light ? Thanks.
  6. ok, cool, glad it helped. There's another diagram of the VSV here
  7. If you're looking for new shocks, why not consider some coilovers ?
  8. ok, does this diagram help ? Specifcally the third page showing where the PCV hose attaches ?
  9. Sorry to sound thick, but which one do you mean, I can't see anything labelled as VCV in that diagram ?
  10. Judging from what you said in the first bit, to answer your questions : 1) It locks the car and enables the interior sensors 2) It deadlocks the car 3) Nothing ? 4) Deadlocking is where you can't open the doors from the inside using the handle. So if someone smashes the glass then reaching in and trying the handle isn't going to do anything 5) Don't know for sure, but I don't think you can unless you locked the car using the key (not the remote in the first place)
  11. If the remote locking has never worked since buying the car, if a battery swap (key fobs) doesn't help I would be straight back to the garage to sort it if I was you, in case it turns out to be an expensive (e.g. ECU) problem !
  12. Does this help ? I'm not quite sure exactly where you're referring to.
  13. Uprated ARBs are the best, aren't they ? :winky: :D
  14. Do you have a manual with the car ? It tells you what to do in there :winky:
  15. Woo-hoo, another great-sounding project to follow ! :D Hope this goes well, can't wait to see the progress and of course the end result ! :D
  16. Check the "Radio No 2" fuse in the driver's side fuse box (by your feet, inside the car).
  17. It depends what you're comparing it to when you decide if it has "go" or not. e.g. I know you guys in Oz are keen on V8s, and it won't drive like one of those obviously (having a straight 6). The IS200 is more of a smooth cruiser than an out-and-out performance car. It does go but more so when you rev it above 3500rpm or so, it's fairly docile before that. Yes they're pretty comfy IMHO for 4 people. The boot isn't particularly enormous if they all have luggage though.
  18. Spoilers, like so many things, are down to personal preference. Myself, I love the small lip spoiler on earlier Sport models, and I don't really care for the larger spoiler (with brake light). Other people would have it the other way round though, which is fair enough, it would be a boring world if we all liked the same things ! :D I've got a Sport and I love it ! :D
  19. This is a pretty risky option so you need to be very very careful where and how you try it. But you could always try going along somewhere on the straight and then turning the engine off and hearing if there is any difference in sound (e.g. if it is the transmission/suspension then the sound will be there, if it's the engine then it won't be). As I'm sure you know if you turn the engine off then this will drastically alter things like the steering and braking since you will lose power assistance, so it is not something to try when there are any sort of hazards (e.g. other traffic !) around.
  20. It almost certainly won't improve the bhp, sorry, but it'll make the engine sound different ! It may well even decrease the bhp, e.g. if the intake is routed near any hot engine components.
  21. Not sure about the satnav but I think the other stuff should apply equally well to Oz cars. As for the cam belt, there *might* be a sticker near/on the cam belt cover saying if it's been replaced. But the abscence of a sticker doesn't mean a lot. You could (or get a garage to) visually inspect the belt to see how new/worn it looks (not too difficult, a cover needs taking off).
