  1. Not sure if it shows the amount of charge, as once it's used up it doesn't then start charging up again, I think it's actually that you can only use 6.7s worth each lap, and it's that countdown that that bar is showing. Yep, after having seen it in use in the race, you're of course right. The fact that the meter goes from empty to full as the car crosses the start/finish line gives it away. I wondered how the teams were able to use KERS off the start line at the start of the race, as was alluded to. I guess that with any laps to get to the grid, plus the formation lap, there's enough running there to charge the KERS up ? I had previously assumed they'd start empty on that front.
  2. So you're saying that people like Mercedes and so forth who fit this as standard are fitting illegal equipment ? Sorry, but with respect, I don't think that's the case. I suspect there are type approval laws for the EC which override UK road regulations. The only question would be perhaps aftermarket versus original fittings and perhaps EC markings on units, but I suspect this would beyond any normal issue that the police would pull over for (or that MoT testers would look at). Off-topic - you're in Camberley and you've got an IS-F ?! I'm in Camberley, I must keep my eyes peeled for you ! :D
  3. For us imperial folks, 221 km/h = 137.3 mph
  4. I don't think that's right, but would be interesting to hear from an MoT tester to confirm. There are only certain items that are tested in the MoT, for example the heater rear windscreen switch is a functionable switch but that won't be tested.
  5. Why would a broken headlight washer fail the MoT ? My headlamp washers don't work at all (still need to sort it) and it passed the MoT fine.
  6. Once you have taken the screws/clips out of the top of the grille (one in the centre, two at each side), then it just pulls away. However, it is held in at the bottom by some more clips, so what you need to do is to push the bottom of the grille towards the radiator, to unclip it, then lift it up and out. It is slightly fiddly the first time, but once you've done it once you'll find it very easy in the future.
  7. Yes, the USB port is at the back of that Pioneer head unit. As Parthiban said, according to the instructions, other than the iPod functionality you can plug in anything to the USB that has your music files in a folder structure, e.g. a memory stick, and you will be able to play them. Also, it does have a 3.5mm jack at the rear for connection of devices via "AUX". You can download the manuals for the unit if you go to the Pioneer UK support section, then enter "FH-P80BT" and search.
  8. Charlesworth Motors in Glossop seem to have a good reputation, see this thread.
  9. Just touch the wires on the battery terminals and see if they work. I presume (but am not sure) they are like LEDs and will only work if you try it the right way round.
  10. Here's a stainless brake line kit for the RX300. I don't know about the RX300 and whether there could be a Mk1/Mk2 difference here.
  11. The one good thing about KERS is that it could/should help overtaking, i.e. giving a boost to overtake at critical moments (though of course the other driver could in theory respond and use his own KERS to defend, but that'll depend if it's charged up, if he reacts quickly enough etc). For anyone who missed the quali, apparently both Ferraris, both Mclarens, both Renaults and Heidfeld's BMW are the ones running KERS this weekend, no-one else is. At one point there was a graphic to accompany the on-board footage which, as well as showing the traditional revs/brake/throttle graphs, also had a KERS bar which showed how much charge there was in it, and you could also see (Raikkonen I think ?) using it at several points in the quali. Fantastic news that Brawn do seem to have real pace, after all their problems. Though of course it remains to be seen how much fuel they're carrying into the race.
  12. Even though I'm not sure they'll make any real difference on my car, why am I still thinking about getting some ? :duh: Think I'm a mug for something that'll look smart underneath my bonnet !
  13. I might be misunderstanding this, but 7.5K for an IS200 ? I don't think you really need to spend anything like that to get a decent one, prices have dropped a *lot*. Don't get one from Lexus themselves, they'll be way overpriced.
  14. Up to £97 already and still 4 days to go !
  15. How do you handle the curved pipes ? Do you need to buy them ready-curved or do they just, say, bend under the application of some heat ?
  16. Nice one Patrik. I'm very far from an expert () but that looks to me like a set that hasn't been used at all but has just been in storage for a long time.
  17. Are the TTE springs still available from Lexus ? Sounds like they are.
  18. ok thanks Chris, will do ! :D Feel a bit nervous about messing with something as important as my brakes, but it does sound like it's pretty straightforward, and it's a great feeling to try something new and do it, so I'll give it a go ! You never know, perhaps I'll end up posting up a walkthrough on changing brake lines ! :winky: EDIT - Is it something like this that I need ? There seem to be a few brake bleeding products on the Halfords website.
  19. I had been thinking that lowering springs were a bit of a waste of time as opposed to going for coilovers, but just recently I've been re-thinking that (due to the cost !), and am now starting to wonder whether to get some lowering springs myself. I was also looking at the Tein springs, nice to know they seem to work well.
  20. I *think* that this is the eBay shop run by the guy who made our rings for the Group Buy. Keep an eye on that, and/or try contacting him via there to ask about the rings for the IS200. They are very very nice, so well worth checking out.
  21. ok, you've convinced me, I'm going to try doing it myself. That's if someone can explain to me how to do it though. I looked at the online manual, and for bleeding the brakes it describes pressing the brake pedal *whilst* loosening the bleeder plug - which doesn't sound like a one-man job. Please can someone give me an idiot's guide to bleeding the brakes ?
  22. There have been a couple of other threads on this sort of subject, here and here. Unfortunately there is nothing in those threads to indicate whether the original posters cured the problem or not.
