  1. Lots of the current hybrid systems (e.g. Lexus/Toyota) use regenerative braking to charge up the batteries, which can then power electric motors. That's effectively what KERS is doing in F1 (some teams use batteries, but others like Williams use a flywheel to store the energy).
  2. The camera are at the top of the pic that I posted, and slightly cut off. Here's another pic which shows the cameras a bit better :
  3. I think that the VVTi makes it interference, unfortunately
  4. Some time this week if the weather stays ok, and if I get my act together ! I've got one of the brake bleeding kits now, so I should be all set.
  5. A brilliant free conversion utility, should you need it, is SUPER.
  6. Yeah I understand that KERS is perhaps an expense the teams could do without, and also perhaps they need to change the weight limit so that heavier drivers can still benefit from it, but just about anything within reason that improves overtaking is great ! :D
  7. I wouldn't lock my glovebox, since if someone did break into the car and found it locked, they'd probably assume something valuable was in there and break it open (causing more damage).
  8. Yes, the 3D fonts is one of the legal ones. EDIT - Hmm, I'm confused about this now. A lot of the number-plate-makers' websites say that there are 2 legal fonts, the standard one and the 3D one. But in the official DVLA leaflet I can't see any mention of the 3D one.
  9. Dunno but this thread in the Winamp forums might help. There's good support for Winamp over at their forums.
  10. I much prefer Winamp to iTunes. Winamp used to have an unsupported iPod facility a while back, but they took that and built it properly into the main programme, so that it's fully supported now. For my little problem it was a doddle, I installed Winamp, copied the stuff off the iPod, pointed iTunes at it and used iTunes to sync (not my choice to use iTunes on that PC !).
  11. Funny that you can't quote the name of the village of Ligh****er , that's "Light" and "water", because of some letters that run together ! I live between junctions 3 and 4 of the M3, and often pass over the jams below. It can be very very busy in the rush hour, but by 10am, barring incidents it should be absolutely fine.
  12. Interestingly, Williams are now saying that the Melbourne GP showed that KERS is very useful (e.g. at the start and for getting through the field), so they're keen to run theirs ASAP. I think it would be great if everyone can run KERS and we can see how that goes. I don't agree with Eddie Jordan's comments about how we shouldn't have it, *if* it improves overtaking (and therefore improves the show) then I think it's a Good Thing. Amazing result for BrawnGP, I assumed they were just running light in winter testing (as often happens), what a fairy tale to go from near-extinction to 1-2 winners !
  13. I think you should be ok, unless of course there's some sort of incident which can mess things up at any time.
  14. I'm thinking of getting some TTE lowering springs. To answer my earlier question in another thread, these are still available from Lexus/Toyota in the UK. I phoned up to get a price (only £131 after Gold discount, bargain !), and after quoting my car details and checking, their parts system isn't showing my car (1999 IS200 Sport) as one that is compatible with this part, i.e. PZ439-C1721-00. From everything I've read on here, I tend to think that this is an error in their system, and that the mounting for the springs didn't change on the IS200 throughout its life and there should be no problem with them on my car. Can someone please confirm this though ?
  15. Did it look like this ? : That's a Google camera car.
  16. That was the Prolex manifold. I imagine that a standard manifold with the precats removed will give you even less than 7 bhp.
  17. I used DemonPlates. They give you all sorts of options.
  18. Unless they're fake ? Sorry to sound negative, but it does happen, and I really don't see how someone can sell a complete set of EBC discs and Mintex pads brand-new for £97.50 (although ok, postage is pretty pricey at £24.50).
  19. I'd go further than that any say that after changing the ride height of your car (either via lowering springs or coilovers), you'll have automatically put the geometry out, so it will definitely need recovering - e.g. via a trip to WIM.
  20. Yeah they do look good. I wonder what they'd look like with the round bits painted ?
  21. If you don't have a separate amp, then if you get an ISO adapter for an MR2 you won't have to do any special wiring, you'll just be able to use this to easily connect the new head unit to the OEM wiring.
  22. The Lexus/Toyota part numbers for the door sills (front and rear) are in this posting. I think you can still get them from a dealer.
