  1. Fuses ? There are two fuses for the OEM head unit. "Radio No 1" in the engine compartment, and "Radio No 2" in the driver's side kick-panel fuse box. I would also be checking the wiring for the sub, perhaps something's short-circuited and/or come loose ? Perhaps remove the sub wiring and see if the head unit works on its own ?
  2. Yes, my car's done less than 60k so I'm hoping that my shocks will be fine with the springs (if they're quite worn the strain of lowering springs can result in poor handling/ride). I was originally thinking of waiting and going for coilovers, but I changed my mind ! :D
  3. Thanks. Yup, don't worry, I've got axle stands ready and waiting :winky:
  4. Here's my car at present. It's particularly high at the back. Not the best angle for pics, higher than your photos Keith, but you get the idea.
  5. Thanks Chris. The OEM scissor jack has a smaller point of contact than the trolley jack though (mine is the standard Halfords jobby), so I don't need to worry about it possibly damaging anything because it's bigger ?
  6. I think I must be doing something wrong. My car isn't even lowered, but I can't seem to get a trolley jack in from the front of the car to the central front jacking point. I can do so from the rear, but then it's difficult to pump the handle because it's so far in. I can't begin to imagine how to manage this when my car is lowered :duh: Should I be trying to jack it from the side jacking points ? Are these safe to use (i.e. won't damage the underside) with a trolley jack ? Or should I be trying to use those central jacking points (front suspension member and rear diff), but pushing the jack in from the side of the car instead of the front/back ? I'm sure this should be straightforward but it feels very difficult
  7. Maybe it's because I've got an early (1999) model, but if my car ends up like that Keith, then it'll be a lot lower than it is now. Perhaps I should take a photo of my car at present and post it up. Stop making me jealous of your Chicanes though ! :P
  8. As for watching videos on the net, are these streaming videos, e.g. from YouTube ? Or stuff you've already downloaded ? Sounds like it may well be an issue with your Internet access, and possibly (as has been suggested) with wireless access if you're using that.
  9. Probably because of said already pre-loaded garbage slowing the PCs down :duh:
  10. Whatever you do, don't buy it though. It's just a rip-off.
  11. Yep, it's probably all the pre-loaded garbage, try and remove as much stuff as possible. Sony laptops are notorious for this.
  12. edeath reckons it's a 30mm or so drop from Sport, see this posting (and photos a few posts further on). Looking at my own car (Sport), there's no way that edeath's car is only dropped 15mm from Sport height.
  13. I replaced one of mine at JAE last year. As you've probably seen, there's a guide here on how to do it. However, as you might guess, you don't really need to remove the speakers (!) or door mirror, so you can skip steps 6, 7 and 8. The only thing that I found fiddly was the first step, specifically unclipping and removing the door handle bezel.
  14. Doh ! Thanks, I didn't notice the mileage on the geometry report !
  15. How many miles have your shocks done ? I would have thought that mileage is probably more important than age.
  16. Really, are you sure ? Factory-fitted HIDs are require self-levelling headlamps, but on my old car the self-levelling kept breaking, but my car still passed the MoT fine (they just checked the level, not whether it self-levels). This link doesn't say anything about doing any special tests for cars with OEM HIDs. Are you really saying that a tester is expected to check whether a car has OEM HIDs or aftermarket ones ?
  17. The IS200 OEM stereo doesn't have a code, as far as I'm aware. So you'll be fine.
  18. Can't you sue the local council if you damaged your car via a pothole ?
  19. *Major* problems clockwise on the M25 this morning, if you're still driving you might want to try carrying on up the M3 then going round the North Circular !
  20. I would be on the phone to the local Trading Standards office straight away. He is obviously highly incompetent and has ripped you off. Check this website link for a phone number and links to useful info. There's even a specific bit on problems with cars, which (in the section on repairs/servicing) says that you are "entitled to expect that the work be carried out with reasonable care and skill", something that seems highly lacking in your case. I wouldn't hang about in sorting out a tensioner, who knows what will happen without one on there, it might be fine at the moment but who is to say that the belt won't jump off and wreck your engine ?!
  21. Wow you're going to have the shiniest engine bay in LOC ! Bet you can't wait to get that fitted !
