  1. I think it probably depends on the state of your shocks, i.e. how worn they are so how well they will stand up to the increased demands of running on lowering springs. I'm getting my TTE springs later this week. My car has done just under 60K miles, so I'm hoping that my shocks will be fine to handle the springs.
  2. Cool, well that's good to know. Hmm, interesting ... :D
  3. Indeed, there are certainly issues about the size of the font. Are you sure it wasn't the size of the font used ?
  4. Went out to my car late on this morning, and found this : This was laying on the ground next to my car, so I presume it was used to do the damage. If I could get my hands on the :tsktsk: who did this ... I'm guessing that the dent in rear wing will psuh out relatively easily, but I'm also guessing I'm going to need a new (expensive ?) door surround (the second pic is the driver's door surround, the shiny black bit) :tsktsk:
  5. There's a wiring diagram here. It shows two wires going into the ignition barrel lighting, a red/black one (R-B ), and a blue/yellow one (L-Y)
  6. Where are you planning on physically putting these lights ? You mention wiring them into the ignition barrel, but if you're using them as courtesy lights I wonder if there would be some other sources which would be physically nearer and easier to tap into ? Or are you putting these into the footwells ?
  7. That does sound like a *very* interesting idea. But I would be concerned at how well those tubes would stand up in the engine bay, after all they're surely not designed for that sort of hostile environment ? Or have you used those exact same tubes Chris and found that they're fine ?
  8. I can't find anything in the regulations for displaying number plates that says that. Do you have a source ? pretty sure they are as remember reading on here and elsewhere than non import cars cannot display an import (JAP) style plate. no idea when i read that, but it seemed to stick in my mind. Yeah, but is it true or just hearsay ? I can't see anything in the MoT tester's manual that says it would fail an MoT either, nor in the number plate display regs.
  9. I can't find anything in the regulations for displaying number plates that says that. Do you have a source ?
  10. Up to you of course. But my head unit is sooooooooo much better than the OEM unit, e.g. great sound quality, reliable, iPod control, plays MP3 CDs, looks nice, easy to use, great Bluetooth support, etc, etc.
  11. From that other thread, I'm pretty sure the TTE springs will be a lot more than a 35 mm drop for an pre-2001 S/SE model. So I would guess the "35mm" is based on the post-update models. If you look at the other thread you will see Cous3's measurements of the ride height of his IS200, with lowering springs.
  12. My Pioneer bluetooth head unit cost a little over £200 and is excellent IMHO (no satnav though).
  13. If differs depending on the model year. For example, take a look at how high my 1999 Sport is at the back, in this posting ! There are some measurements in there too (further on in the thread).
  14. At WIM they check and set all aspects of the geometry, e.g. camber, caster, toe, etc. It's not just alignment. You can read a bit more about it via their website. Bear in mind that a lot of IS200 owners have suffered premature tyre wear and handling issues with using the OEM geometry settings, and Lexus have not to this day (so I believe) admitted that it's a problem, and it took WIM to work out a set of parameters that would vastly improve the situation - i.e. WIM know what they're doing ! :winky:
  15. The changes are summarised here. I think since you've got the raised rear spoiler with built-in stop light, then it's a post-2001-update model, since that was one of the changes (unless of course someone has added one onto yours later). Three-hole windscreen washer jets (as opposed to the earlier two-hole, and later fan-type) are another thing that you can check.
  16. We don't really know what price it's being offered at though, since the reserve hasn't been met yet.
  17. Yeah that did seem like a particularly stupid decision by Ferrari, switching to full wets on a dry track. Even as a gamble, it was an absolutely huge one, because a couple of laps on the dry tyres and he'd have lost so much time he might as well have stopped again, not to say that he'd also have destroyed the tyres. Why on earth did they wait so long before abandoning the race though ? It was surely obvious to all that it wasn't going to restart, and even if it was for reasons of TV coverage I don't really see how ages of watching the cars going nowhere was really helpful.
  18. Good question. It would be interesting if you could measure the vertical distance from the top of your tyre to the arch, as in this thread, then you can compare the heights posted in there of cars fitted with those springs. Is your car pre- or post- the 2001 updates ? If it's pre-update then it sounds like it'd be a bigger drop than for a post-update model.
  19. I think it's been said before that the GS caliper is the same, if that helps at all.
  20. I can't tell you if it's the right type for your GS300, but there are loads of cheap kits on eBay too, and I don't see why there should be any problem with your kit, they're all probably made in a few factories in the Far East. If you've got the usual sort of kit, and if it's the same as on the IS200 then it should be very easy, just plug and play and no need to run extra connectors to the battery etc. This is all based on how it works on the IS200 though, as I said.
  21. I used that second seller that you list from eBay when I bought some bolts to hold down my stainless steel radiator panel. Not saying they're any better than the first seller, and I haven't had them in that long, but they did the job. The ones that I got in that particular instance were M6 x 12.
  22. I'm not saying it affects the performance, but if it stayed the same diameter then it would be the right size to start with and wouldnt need the packing to fill the elbow. If you see what i mean Yep, I see what you mean. I guess I was mainly responding to Whitey suggesting that the stepping down could cause a restriction.
  23. List price of TTE (Eibach) springs from Lexus/Toyota are £154.19. I got them for £131 with Gold LOC discount :)
