  1. Yeah don't worry, he hasn't sold his Lex, he's fine, just busy. I recently told him we were missing him !
  2. Am I right in thinking that it's relatively straightforward to replace shocks ? Much more so than, say, springs ?
  3. Hopefully my bonnet struts will be here soon. Still need to fit my stainless brake lines, and I'm visiting WIM tomorrow to get my lowering springs fitted :D. One of my newly-fitted LED eyebrows has stopped working, so I need to check out, probably just a loose connection (really need to change the scotchlocks for proper soldered connections). Chances are I won't get round to doing any of the stuff that I need to do myself though !
  4. ok, so your car sounds like it should have exactly the same wiring is mine, which is a 1999 Sport model (8 speakers and separate amp). The wiring diagram is here for the head unit/amp and the green illumination wire is shown on this diagram (towards the right).
  5. Sorry I have no idea about the current/voltage etc. What exact model is your car, i.e. which model year and 6 speaker/8 speaker etc ? There are different wiring diagrams for the different models. Checking the right diagram means you can be sure which wire is doing which. My dimming had to be switched on with my Pioneer head unit, and it doesn't dim massively, but it is noticeable.
  6. You can indeed get the anti-squeal shims on their own from your Toyota/Lexus dealer, part number is 04945-30130 for the front and either 04946-30070 or 04946-30071 for the rear, get the dealer to double-check the part number versus your car's exact model.
  7. That looks great, sounds absolutely awesome, you must be getting sooooo excited ! :D
  8. How do you young guys (I used to be young once - I think ! ) justify paying so much for insurance relative to the value of the car ? I'm just curious. Is it just something you accept for being able to drive a lovely car like a Lex ?
  9. I took my car to Lexus/Toyota and they gave me a quote of £2,660 to repair it ! Luckily a body shop just down the road from me (which I've seen a lot of expensive cars outside being repaired there, as well as more ordinary cars) has quoted a somewhat more reasonable £1,324. Looks like it's going to be an insurance job though, with me paying the £250 excess
  10. The IS200 doesn't have H/T leads but I believe the IS300 does. I'll leave someone who knows more about that engine to comment further, but it might well be worth changing the plugs as a precaution, especially if they haven't been done for some time - it might help, but even if it doesn't then at least you'll have nice new, efficient plugs.
  11. I'm not sure exactly what current etc comes down the OEM green wire. But on my Pioneer head unit, with it connected in there and the dimming feature turned on for the head unit, what happens is that when I turn my lights on (e.g. sidelights), the head unit illumination goes down slightly. It doesn't operate off the dashboard dimmer rotary knob, there's just one step of dimmed or not dimmed. Hope that helps.
  12. Yep, I bought a TRD front lip from a dealer the other day. I presume Aaron is hoping for a cheaper option (my front lip was £121 after Gold discount).
  13. I would also check out this posting from Aztec where he's made some suggestions to make a kit up similar to the Prolex one.
  14. The timing belt has to come off to change the oil pump. P1346 is connected to a valve timing problem, so something has almost certainly gone wrong with re-fitting the timing belt, e.g. they've done it wrong.
  15. I would be careful because in *theory* if you knowingly drive around your car with one of the safety aids turned off, and then you have an accident the insurance company *might* refuse to pay out if they thought it was in any way connected with the accident. Yes there is a separate sensor for each wheel. There's some info here about trying to diagnose the fault. There are ways that Toyota/Lexus can diagnose if there's a speed sensor problem using the procedures here, but I'm not clear whether this is possible with normal OBDII readers.
  16. You should be able to pick the Toyota coolant up from any Toyota dealer, they should have it in stock. You want either the red or the pink stuff (not green), check with the dealer as to which they think should be right for your car (think it depends on model year). Good news that your head gasket seems ok. Not sure about the radiator seal thing, might be worth doing a search for "radiator" on here, I seem to remember someone looking for a new radiator fairly recently.
  17. Leaking windscreen ? You could see if it's worse after it's rained, or pour water on it yourself.
  18. What happens exactly, is it turning over fine but just not firing ? Or is it struggling to turn over at all ?
  19. Have you checked your coolant expansion tank ? It's behind the radiator, and has a plastic cap that you can take off. There's a clear window at the back of the tank that you can look at to see the level. Don't top it up with water though, get the proper Toyota coolant for that. If you take the oil cap off, what does the underside of that look like ? Is it just oily or is there a mayonnaise-like substance in there ?
  20. If the TRC OFF light is on all the time, and the TRC indicator is flashing all the time, then that indicates a malfucntion with something to do with the TRC. As Stav said, the most likely culprit is an faulty speed sensor (ABS sensor) - they can be damaged pretty easily when doing work around the wheels/brakes/suspension - though there are other possibilities as well.
  21. Great news, glad you seem to have got it sorted. Billnick - that's not the same code that the original poster here was reporting, I recommend you start a new thread then it will be easier for other folks here to see your problem and provide suggestions for you.
  22. When you say it's got smoke coming out of it, from where ? Do you mean from the engine bay, or is it just coming from the exhaust, because IS200s do seem to produce quite a lot of steam. The Toyota coolant is red, so your coolant lid sounds fine. Don't know about the liquid that's coming out, is this in the engine bay itself or has it dripped out onto the ground ? If you use your hand above where the liquid is, can you find any pipes or similar that appear to be a bit wet ?
  23. Several people have reported this in the past, and it was just low coolant level, as Aztec said.
  24. My C-One front ARB is a lot heavier (and thicker) than the OEM one. Think the rear one was pretty similar weight-wise.
  25. That URL for plates doesn't work, I wonder if you used DemonPlates, which I who I used as well. They'll make up any sized plate you like for the rear, just give them the dimensions that you want.
