    When helping another LOC member install their head unit, I tried that first but it didn't work. It only worked when the wire was taken to a proper earth, not just something else that routed both to earth and the head unit.

    P0340 means that the sensor that checks the camshaft's position appears to be malfunctioning. This sensor is on the intake camshaft. This does make it sound like it's probably something to do with the cam belt change, since that's involved with the camshaft pulley. Edit - this is referring to the 1G-FE engine in the IS200. For the 3S-GE engine then it's probably something very similar.

    Using N just means your signal goes further so you will potentially get interference with even more users once they all start using N too though :duh:

    Is the new cylinder head from SPC Horsham still going on it ? Will that be at the same time as the turbo ?

    Brief update. The insurance company have authorised Lexus's quote, which includes replacing the rear quarter panel and doing lots of other work connected with replacing that. Car is booked in for Thursday 7th May. This is coming off my insurance though, since I don't know who did it :tsktsk:

    There are some handy bolts under the gear trim surround that you can use for the wire that's supposed to go to the handbrake.

    If you are using wireless "g" (i.e. 802.11g), then there are only three channels which are totally non-overlapping (i.e. don't interfere with any others). They are 1, 6 and 11. See what channels the others are using and hopefully one of those three won't be in use by the others, if so change to using that one. I have found that wireless routers are very very unreliable and over a relatively short space of time they simply stop working properly and need replacing.

    That doesn't sound right to me, I'm not aware of anything in the braking system that should take time to "warm up" etc. It might just be that there is some air in the system and the brakes need bleeding.

    One thing that bothers me about this, is if it is possible for a large number of people to get their debts written off due to a technicality, then what will this do for the banks who have to take another hit ? I can perfectly understand if a bank makes a genuine material error which they have to take account for. But if a large number of perfectly valid debts got suddenly written off then that doesn't sound good to me, sorry.

    Glad it was something simple. Certainly a lot easier tightening the filter than removing the sump ! :D

    That does sound a bit weird Parthiban. I wonder if it's worth taking to Lexus so they can double-check that the ABS is working ok via their diagnostics ? e.g. if you look here there are lots of things that their diagnostics can pick up.

    You don't need to press harder when the ABS is working, no. But when the ABS kicks in the feel of the brake pedal is usually completely different, and it can trick you into thinking the brakes aren't working properly. Usually you can feel it "pulsing" through the brake pedal, which can feel like it's skidding - did you feel something like that ?
