  1. Hopefully it will help a lot being on a different channel Chris. But people do use their Internet at different times of day/days of the week, of course, so keep an eye on it over the next few days and fingers crossed it will stay well-behaved !
  2. If you have forgotten the default userid/password for your router, and don't have the instructions you will be able to find it by Googling it. If you changed the password when you set it up, and can't remember it, then there will be a way of resetting the router back to defaults by pressing some sort of reset switch on it. This will set everything back to default, however, so your router may well need configuring again to work with your broadband (but your ISP should be able to help you with this).
  3. You need to figure out if it's the wireless going wrong or the broadband connection itself, e.g. by plugging in something directly to the router and seeing if that's ok. If it's just the wireless then it might be the router failing, or it might be interference from other nearby users. If the problem has just started up it could conceivably be someone new using the same channel as you. As I posted before, if you are using 802.11g, then preferably try and use channels 1, 6 or 11, because these are the only non-overlapping channels, the others all overlap with at least one other channel. With routers, yes, you usually have an http:// address that you can go to which will get you into the admin system of the router. This requires a password but there's usually just a default one that should be in the instructions (or even possibly on a sticker underneath the router) unless you've changed it. If, however, a PC plugged directly into the router has the same problems, then it's probably the broadband link itself, which you can speak to your ISP about.
  4. A few people seem to have been reporting this sort of thing, I wonder if there are some dodgy amp bypass cables being sold on eBay ?
  5. I think we might be talking at cross-purposes. As far as I understand, Lexus do need a master key to program a new key for you, if we're talking about the IS200/300. Other models may well be different. The programming instructions over in the Workshop forum will not work if you're not using a master key. If you lose all your keys, then as far as I know, Lexus's recommendation will be for a new ECU for your car. There are other solutions about, yes, but will probably involve an auto locksmith. Sorry but there is indeed a bigger different between master and sub keys on the IS200/300, otherwise the Security light wouldn't act differently with them, nor would the key progamming method detailed in the Workshop.
  6. Lexus's definition is referring to the day-to-day use of the key though, i.e. whether it can open the boot etc. What we're talking about here though (from the original posting) is key reprogramming, where the master key is defined as a key that can be used to reprogram another key. A 2-button key that has been programmed as a "master" can be used to reprogram another key. A 3-button key that has been programmed as a sub key can't be used to reprogram another key. Hence putting the key into the ignition and watching the Security light is the only true way to tell whether it's a "master" for key reprogramming purposes.
  7. Oh no, what a bummer ! I guess a breaker's may be the only chance then. I found this seller on eBay who says they're a specialist breaker of Soarers. But they don't seem to list your gen of SC430 as something that they have, though I could have got that wrong. Might be worth checking with them anyway ?
  8. You may have already checked this, but could the new speaker simply be faulty ? Have you tried the other one of the pair of new speakers in the same position ?
  9. Good question, I don't know.
  10. You might find that Toyota will charge you less than Lexus for exactly the same job that Lexus would do.
  11. I've had it suddenly change my view too. But that's normally when I've done some sort of searching, I think it might be if you use Google and find a LOC thread and view it via Google, it then sets the thread display differently and you need to reset it. At least, that's what's happened to me.
  12. Loads of pics of that MR2's screens here.
  13. Mine is fine, I can change back and forth between the different methods of thread display. What browsers are you guys with the problem having ? I was using IE7, and have recently upgraded to IE8. Maybe try logging out and logging back in again to see if it makes any difference ?
  14. Yep, it's looking for an earthed connection, and the idea is that you connect it to the handbrake so that it's earthed when you have the handbrake on, i.e. you can only watch DVDs when stationary. But if you want, you can just put it to a permanent earth so that you can have DVDs on while on the move - only for your passenger though, obviously ! :winky:
  15. There must be a standard part for the speaker cover though, and presumably the badge you're referring to is stuck onto that ? I don't know much about the SC, but is the speaker cover the part labelled 67491A/67492B in the first pic below ? Or is it the rear speaker cover 67653C/67654C in the second pic ?
  16. If you take the gear trim surround off (very easy), then there are some handy bolts under there connected to the chassis. So if you connect the cable in there, it'll be earthed and hey presto! your DVDs will work.
  17. Hmm, very interesting. Do you find any downsides to your lightweight flywheel, wildybeast ?
  18. I've got one of those same Pioneer units as Johnboy, and I'm very happy with mine too :D
  19. Maybe Mintex pads don't suit the BMW OEM discs ? Because I don't recall anyone on LOC saying they were unhappy with Mintex on their IS200s. Or maybe they were fake Mintex ?
  20. The best way to tell is to insert the key into the ignition and watch the blinking Security light on the dashboard. With a master key, the Security light will immediately go off. With a sub (valet) key, the light will stay on for a second and then go off. The number of buttons on the key isn't an infallible guide. Yes, when the car was brand new the 3-button keys will have been masters and the 2-button keys will have been subs. But unless you've owned the car from new you don't know if someone might have re-programmed the keys at some point (e.g. the 3-button key could have been turned into a sub and vice versa).
  21. Yep, don't worry, with a decent aftermarket head unit it will sound better than your stock system with amp.
  22. When this subject has come up before, people here have normally said that judder when pulling away basically a characteristic of the car, due to the dual-mass flywheel (e.g. see this thread). Surely replacing the flywheel isn't going to make a lot of difference to it ?
