  1. Regarding the ECU reset David, it doesn't really matter exactly when you do it, as Rob said. In fact, you don't *have* to do it at all. But it's recommended that you do (if I was you I'd do it as the last thing after finishing installing the new plugs, just before you turn the car on to check it fires up ok etc), to speed up the re-learning process so the ECU can get the right mixture etc going.
  2. The gaps are preset, you don't need to (shouldn't) adjust them. No need to apologise for asking perfectly good questions !
  3. ok, so the a/c puts cold air to both sides ok ? But the heating only goes to one side. What about the vents in the middle of the dash, what do they do ? Each of the two of them ? What about the vents to the windscreen ? And the vents to the floor ?
  4. I don't think so unless another member wants to sell you a set of ready-made lights like that. You can find some headlamp sets with angel eyes (and LEDs and possibly projector xenons) on eBay, but they're typically for LHD drive cars and won't have the correct beam pattern for the UK (despite what the ads might try and portray).
  5. Agree with Rabster, I don't think they can force you to take it to a particular garage even if their legal team is doing the work.
  6. You can buy aftermarket flywheels for about half the price of the Lexus one, e.g. at Prolex. Or you could try and get a used one from a breaker's.
  7. Sorry to hear you've hit trouble, but I guess teething problems are not to be unexpected on such a complex job. I'm sure it will be sorted soon, and don't worry, as soon as you can get it to a meet I'm sure that everyone will still be extremely interested ! :D
  8. The main thing it was very simple to fix. Actually that sounds like a simple accident to me rather than anything really embarrassing.
  9. Looks like you've posted this in the IS200/300 forum by accident. You'd stand a much better chance of getting others with GS300 knowledge to help you if you post it (or ask the moderators to move it ?) in the GS300 forums :)
  10. You don't even have to get three quotes, one will do as long as the insurance company is happy with it (e.g. they might well send an assessor out to check the damage). You can pick where you want the car to be fixed, get a quote from them and send it to the insurer's. Or visit a few repair places if you're not sure to see who seems like they'll do a good job (assuming you cant get specific recommendations from here or elsewhere). I got three quotes for my damage, the Lexus one was by far the most expensive but my insurer's approved it without batting an eyelid.
  11. Tightened something that shouldn't have been tightened ?
  12. Yay ! :D So what had you done to it ?
  13. Have you tried anything more on this ? What do the centre vents do, are they both hot or both cold ? What is the basis of what's happening, is the passenger's side always cold no matter what you do ? Is that ambient air (i.e. unheated/uncooled from the outside) ? What if you put the aircon on max cooling, does that work ok both sides and it's just heated air that doesn't come through properly ? How about the floor ducts, do they work properly each side ? How about the windscreen ducts, do they work properly ?
  14. Fingers crossed it's a quick fix then you can tell us what the fix was ! :D
  15. Masterjokay, send a PM to Johnboy and ask him if you can get onto the stand. In the worst case, I'm sure you can buy a ticket on the day and still get in, just that your car won't be on the stand. Your next project sounds a nice one ! :D edeath - cheeky ! But probably true . There was an outside chance I'd get my Lex back tomorrow but that's been dashed so it's deffo the Yaris for me. I'm up for meeting at Chievely, though you'll probably leave me for dust on the M4 !
  16. I'm not too keen on them, but if anyone was interested you'd need to be careful, since they're being advertised for the Gita, i.e. Sportcross. Wonder if the fogs are somehow different ?
  17. Was it a brand new Lexus flywheel or a used one ?
  18. For the throttle body, basically what happens is this. Instead of the accelerator pedal directly controlling how much the throttle opens and closes, this is controlled electronically. The accelerator pedal still have a cable going to the throttle body, but this doesn't operate the throttle directly, the input is read by the car's ECU and it then tells a motor on the throttle body how much to open/close the throttle.
  19. Not sure it's going to help just making another posting, if I was you I'd bump your original posting (reply to it) since there's more info in there really.
