  1. Top-loaders on the IS200 do get ERR3, there have been a few come up on the forum. But if it does happen it's a lot more easy to take apart than the earlier bottom-loaders, so there's more chance of fixing it. I don't see how you can compare any error code on an IS220/250 to an IS200 though, just because the code is the same, doesn't really mean a lot.
  2. Have a look on Sony's website, they should have a download section and you should be able to search for bios versions for your model of Vaio. There will be a package to download and instructions on how to do it. Hopefully it's possible to do it without having to get into the BIOS first ! It might well involve creating a CD you boot off, if so hopefully it won't ask for the password.
  3. I wonder if you can remove the battery that keeps the BIOS memory going and that might do it ? It'll certainly make it lose all the BIOS settings and it'll start again at factory defaults, but I don't know if it'll remove the password. It's also worth trying Rabster's suggestion and trying to re-flash the BIOS.
  4. You need to check what the width of the wheel is, as others have said. It's probably 7.5" or 8" width. If it's 7.5" then a 245 tyre will not fit, it'll be too wide. If it's an 8" wheel then the 245 will just about go on, but it'll be far from ideal, as Ormi has said.
  5. The fuse for the satnav screen is the "TV" fuse in the fusebox in the passenger's side footwell.
  6. There's even a walkthrough on how to change the timing belt, here.
  7. Links are working fine for me, try it again.
  8. Have you tried Sky ?
  9. Which one ? There are three different cars in the pictures in your posting.
  10. There's a full review of the new RX450h in the July edition of CAR magazine (in the UK).
  11. Ths GS300 Mark I and the IS200/300 use exactly the same calipers, so I presume have the same problems. I think that some Supras (possibly JDM only ?) also shared them.
  12. Thanks. Where I was coming from are that those part numbers that you quoted (which actually aren't the "real" part numbers, but are referenced in the part description) are early part numbers, in that they're listed before the others and they have lower numbers in sequence (usually indicating they are earlier parts). So my logic is/was that those parts are from an early car, and if they were Tokico shocks that probably means the early ones are Tokico and then they changed to KYB around 2001 since Ed's ones appear to have been KYB ones. Unfortunately it looks like we won't know in this case, since we don't know the age of the car that those shocks came off. However I don't think it matters that much really, since as I said it's not like the parts diagrams indicate different parts being specific to later cars, so I suspect the spec was identical anyway and it was just the manufacturer that changed or other details which didn't affect ride/performance.
  13. Draining the cooling system is covered here. I don't know about flushing it though, is that really necessary ?
  14. Brawn and Red Bull are only doing well because of the massive regulation changes. Give it a bit of time and the big-spending teams will still pull ahead. Though the ban on in-season testing is making that process take longer than it used to. With stable regulations, the teams doing well will still be the ones with the most money. The budget cap would make for a much more level playing field.
  15. Yeah but don't you think F1 is getting a bit out of hand, Parthiban, and pricing itself out of existence. If we were only left with a couple of manufacturers spending an absolute fortune, and some much smaller teams which are miles slower, I don't think I'd enjoy it. The two-tier thing doesn't make sense but that's only if some of the teams don't sign up to the budget cap. $40m isn't exactly low budget, that's a lot of money. I think a new F1 with a budget cap but encouraging innovation (less restrictions on what you can do) could be great. I think your point about Brawn helps show where I'm coming from. You don't have to spend a fortune to do well, you just have to be clever. F1 should be about being very clever IMHO, not who can spend the most.
  16. I notice the ad doesn't say what mileage it has. A charged IS200 has more torque than an RS200, I believe. Don't think you can really compare it with a turbo install though, which could potentially give you a lot more power/torque.
  17. I quite like Ferrari, but I wonder if they've totally lost the plot now. I see that fresh from losing their court case vs the FIA and the propopsed budget capping for F1, they've now sneered at the potential new teams who are applying to join the grid next season (e.g. Wirth Research, Lola, USF1, Epsilon Euskadi, RML, Formtech, Campos and iSport), saying : Well, wouldn't they have said the same about BrawnGP at the start of the season ? Ferrari have been pretty rubbish this season. I'm sure they'll improve, but right now they're getting their behinds handed to them by a new team. Even if the names are new to F1, those new teams can hire existing expertise etc to give them a head start. Ferrari seem to be to be getting way too big for their boots. Or is that just me ?
  18. I'm guessing you've got either P0105 or P0106 but as Stav said, we really need the exact details to help figure out what's happening. It would be useful to get a better sequence of events too, I'm finding this all a bit confusing. e.g. were there no codes/engine light, then you drove it, now the engine check light has come on and you've got just this one code ? Or are there others too ?
  19. There's a whole load of stuff here and here. It's for the IS200 but I imagine it's exactly the same for the Altezza. A particularly relevant bit may be where it says that even if you fix the problem, the ABS light doesn't go off until you do a certain sequence of driving and pressing the brake pedal, might be worth trying that ?
  20. ok, thanks, that's the sort of thing I was wondering about, risk of damaging stuff. Do we know what the typical cause of a sticky caliper is ? Is it the slide pins, or the pistons ? Or can it just be either or do we really not know ? Even though brake calipers shouldn't (to my knowledge) normally need "servicing", I'm still wondering whether it's something we should consider on our IS200s.
  21. Am I right in thinking that this is pretty much just a drag run thing ? Not saying there's anything wrong with that, just checking if there's anything else to it.
