  1. Whereabouts from the passenger side, can you tell ? Is it coming from the footwell on the side (could be a sticking relay in the fuse box), or behind the glove box ? So is it more of a specific clicking on/off rather than just a random rattle ?
  2. All the part numbers are here, which is probably what you've already discovered. Make sure you know what you need to replace though. If you swap the compressor and find out the problem was really the clutch (which is also pretty expensive), or vice versa, then that's going to be even more painful.
  3. I don't know the GS, but it looks like there's a horn for the alarm in the driver's side wing, see this diagram.
  4. If you're looking to get more out of your TTE charger Dimitris, you might want to check out all the things Stav did to his before he swapped his engine out for the turbo. He managed to get quite a bit of extra power (relatively speaking, of course) through ECU/remap and a few other things.
  5. Looks like it's an S model that's he's confusing with "Sport". V6 badge on the back ! :duh: Sorry to anyone who likes it, but that body kit is
  6. Thanks all, that confirms my suspicion about steering clear of an engine flush. My last oil change wasn't ages ago and the oil isn't in a horrible state, so I don't have any reason to suspect that it needs a flush. I'll just go for the regular oil (and filter, of course) change.
  7. So it is the compressor making that horrible noise ? That does sound pretty bad, and the troubleshooting guide does seem to indicate that replacement is required . It does say if the noise is just coming from the clutch, then only the clutch needs replacing (compressor clutch, that is, of course). How about a breaker's (lots on eBay) ? If a car hasn't had too much front-end damage then you should be ok. Looks like the compressor change with the 2001 update, sounds like you've got an LE model which would be one of the later cars, i.e. later compressor. The part is 88320-53020 for the later compressor.
  8. Nice, looking forward to seeing pics of more bits ! :D
  9. Amp bypass lead also here, for less. That's the seller I got mine from. I got mine in a package with the fascia adapter from them for a good deal, although I can't see a similar set from them at the moment (though if you call them they might be able to help). Someone else might be able to find something suitable even cheaper. I can see one packaged set of lead/adapter on eBay at the moment for even less, but I'm suspicious it's slightly "too" cheap.
  10. I guess that if a car is being exported from the UK though, you have to send the V5 (registration document) back to the DVLC (UK vehicle licencing centre) and wait for an export certificate. Of course I have no idea what this means in terms of the import process in Finland, e.g. whether you have to wait for this paperwork before you can get the car through customs ? Googling on this, it looks like you can apply for the export certificate (which you can do in person at a regional UK licencing office) up to 14 days before the car ships out.
  11. I think it's because they generally put one of the best acts on last.
  12. I thought that the argument was that an engine flush might get rid of deposits which are actually helping the engine out, and losing those could cause problems. But I might well be mis-remembering or misunderstanding. I wonder if the garage has suggested this because it's a 100,000 mile service, though my car has only done 60K (which they don't realise).
  13. ok I'll take your word for it, I was going by what the wiring diagram shows
  14. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but are the LED strips newly-fitted ? i.e. the lights worked fine before but not now you've got the LEDs connected ? Just wondering if the LEDs are connected the wrong way round (they have a polarity which needs to be right or they won't come on, unlike regular bulbs).
  15. I think it's the width of the thread that needs measuring, isn't it ? Not the width of the central part of the screw that the thread goes around ?
  16. actually i had my dome light fuse go steve and it stops all internal lights working totally. door lights, vanity lights etc. He did say that the door lights had stopped working (at least that's my interpretation). I still think the dome light will manually switch on if you switch it to the "On" position even if the Dome fuse has gone, though of course I could be mistaken. But you're right that if the Dome fuse goes then the vanity lights wouldn't work. So it seems a bit strange.
  17. I have no idea about the registration papers, sorry. But what is it that you want to know about insurance/plates ?
  18. My car has been serviced soon and the garage is suggesting an engine oil flush before the oil change. I seem to remember reading that flushing isn't really recommended on older cars, since it can do more harm than good. My car hasn't done huge mileage, it's only on 60,000 miles, but it is nearly 10 years old. I am changing from whatever oil is in the car (semi-synth ? I don't know) to fully synthetic. Am I right in thinking that I should pass on the flush ?
  19. Thanks guys. So has anyone actually fitted the lip(s) with the original fitting kit ? It seems very very strange to me that the supplied grey strip has only a single sticky side. It would make much more sense if it was double-sided like the 3M VHB that you mention Chris. What's the point of supplying this stuff when you still need something else ? :duh:
  20. It does sound very odd. It may look a bit complicated, but it could be worth going through the troubleshooting procedure detailed here (for very early cars) or here (for post-2000 cars). You'll need a multimeter for that, and you need to remove the a/c control unit and it will test both the data from the car that is being fed into the a/c unit, and the workings of the a/c control unit itself.
  21. Cous3 did a superb job on his engine covers, and did a walkthrough on how he did it. I'll try and find the posting. Edit - here it is.
  22. Thanks all. I must say I'm well impressed with the job that Lexus/Toyota have done. It's Octagon Toyota's body shop at Bracknell who did the repair. It was the most expensive quote by a long way but the insurance company were perfectly happy with it and the fit and finish of the new panel is spot on.
  23. Any sign of anything unusual when you took it apart to check the connections, e.g. signs of water in there at all ?
  24. Despite its name, I think the "Dome" fuse is only in the picture when the dome light switch is in the "Door" position, and isn't used when you turn the light "On". So I still suspect the Dome fuse.
