  1. You're right, but that doesn't help on the Sony Vaio though, they seem to have made it as hard as possible to get around ! :duh:
  2. The connectors might easily fit the wrong way round, they might not, the kits vary. The easiest place to do it is probably the connector that you plug into the ballast. Make it fit if it doesn't easily already (e.g. cutting off a tab). That's bound to be the problem, this always seems to be an issue with those kits and the IS200.
  3. The air gets sucked downwards, first through the pollen filter and then into the blower motor below it. So all the main lumps of dirt and other particles would have been on the upper side of the old filter.
  4. ok, well if the clicking carried on when you swapped the relays then it doesn't sound like the problem lies with the relay. Have you got any warning lights on the dash ? You could always pull out the EFI fuse overnight, that should stop it temporarily. That relay is connected to the car's engine ECU. It is also connected on one side to an earth on the passenger side, behind the dash. Have you had any work done on the car ? Have you taken out the OEM amp to conect an aftermarket stereo ? Or anything in the engine bay ? I wonder if a wire has come loose.
  5. Bolts required : VVT-i cover - 4 of M10x25, with 13mm washer. Airbox - 3 of M10x30, with 21mm washer (you might need a smaller washer too, i.e. if the hole in the centre of the 21mm washer is close to the size of the head of the bolt). Obviously the washers aren't going to *have* to be that exact size, just close enough to work.
  6. ok, so which ones are you thinking about ? The OEM airbox bolts and the VVT-i cover bolts ? I can take a couple off mine and measure them.
  7. Sounds like Rob used some pretty short ones though :
  8. Rofl at Rabster ! I think that some of you guys are confusing the different "stages" of TDi's tuning "upgrades" (downgrades ?) with their separate supercharger pulley upgrades. At least, based on what their website shows at the moment, I have no idea if they might have packaged these differently in the past.
  9. That sounds like a problem the air mix servo motor. See here for a troubleshooting guide for that, sounds like it might be not working properly. That one is not too hard to get too, it's behind the glove box, to the right.
  10. Does the a/c stuff work ok when you try and change the direction of where the air is coming out ? It might be one of the motors that is used for this, e.g. there's one that sends the air either up/middle/down, and another one that is used to switch between fresh air and cabin air when you press the recirculate button, plus a third that mixes the hot/cold air. They're just to the right of the glovebox, behind the instrument panel. Might be one of those that is sticking ? The blower motor (big fan etc) is right behind the glove box, you could always pop out the glove box (squeeze in the sides and it drops down, spilling its contents on the floor) to see if that gives you a better chance of hearing exactly where the noise is coming from. If it only happens when you're driving, take along a passenger and get them to try and help pinpoint the source.
  11. All you need to check is the length of the bolt really. And then you double-check the size of the head - e.g. if it's 12mm then it's an M12 bolt. Loads of stainless steel bolts on eBay, should be easy to find.
  12. Looking good mate. Lol but no suprise about the forum software censoring the name of the inventor of the rotary engine
  13. Yeah, give 'em a call like Wozza said (and I said too). That's exactly the package I got, from the same seller, think it was the same price. Not a bad price for both items. I had no problems whatsoever.
  14. The shiny dials are already available for the early cars, the problems is the later cars with some lights in different places. Whoever makes them needs to have a dash set to be able to test-fit them. I'm pretty sure that Jason, who made the dials I have (and Prolex sell them), recently got his hands on a later set of clocks so should be able to get those made up. I suggest sticking with Jason/Prolex with these, to be honest. As for the radiator panels, again, anyone making them would need access to a car to try them out. They would also need access to a suitable machine to fold the panels. One option would be to take one of the panels made by TheDon, un-fold it, and that would give a template to make them (and allow measurements to be taken on where to fold it).
  15. You're asking about on the IS300, yes ?
  16. I don't get the point really and I think they look ugly. Sorry, you did ask ! :) Surely they're not going to help you with Gatso cameras and the like, which take a pic as you go past, i.e. from the rear. Maybe with SPECS though. But I would have thought it'd be an open invitation for the police to pull you.
  17. I did have a look on eBay, but was struggling to find any 3mm screws that were any good, e.g. that weren't just wood screws.
  18. So you haven't seen this working and only recently bought it ? Hmm, call me cynical, but I wonder if the previous owner made up that story about the battery (or ran it down deliberately) just to cover up the fact that the satnav screen is busted ?
  19. eBay is your best bet, a big choice on there. I think Keith (Cous3) got some when he painted up his covers, check his thread that I posted a link to in your thread about painting engine covers.
  20. If they've sold you a car with a tyre that is starting to delaminate then that sounds dangerous and unroadworthy. Doesn't matter if it's in theory covered by the warranty or not, by law a commercial seller has to sell you something that's at least roadworthy.
  21. I'd be suprised if you can't get one from TTE Germany.
  22. Surely you wouldn't have to do customs (as in pay duty etc) both ways, as you're just sending the car over temporarily ? ok, sure for any new bits coming back into the UK, but otherwise it's the same car going over and then back (just as I wouldn't expect Formula 1 cars to have to pay customs fees to enter a country). Or am I trying to apply too much common sense here ?
  23. Yeah there are courier services which advertise themselves on eBay, including ones that will pick up large items such as car bumpers etc.
