  1. Well done to all the winners and runners-up. I think got most cars mentally paired-up with their owners, but which cars were Aztecbandit's and TonyGoose's ?
  2. There are loads of JAE pics in the "JAE Attendees and General Chat" thread :winky:
  3. Wiki has some good explanations on coilovers but it doesn't really seem to compare them (unless I missed it) to standard springs, and Tony's reply here has summed it up for me nicely :)
  4. Great to see Dancing Dave preserved for posterity ! :D
  5. You will need a bypass cable (which I understand doesn't really "bypass", but that's what people call it lol). See this thread for more info. DJ Wozza can tell you everything you need to know about this sort of thing.
  6. What sort of problem are you having ? I presume you mean you can't get your own avatar on. I couldn't seem to upload an avatar, it kept telling me it was too big even when it wasn't. But when I uploaded one to a photo hosting website (there are loads out there, I use Photobucket), and put a link into it (in the "Enter a URL to an online avatar image" box) then it worked.
  7. Both your avatar pic and profile pics are the same for me, you're on a green chair with glasses. So I think you've done it right, if people are seeing anything different then it's probably just a short-term caching issue (i.e. the Internet will catch up soon !).
  8. Check out the online workshop manual here Go to the Service Data Sheet section. It gives you both Denso and NGK part numbers.
  9. Yeah ok I know it's a bit of a stupid question. But I don't understand the difference between coilovers and lowering springs. I know that the springs are, well, just springs, and the coilovers are springs with dampers (?) built into them. What's the advantage of coilovers, I presume then that their dampers replace the OEM ones in the car ? But how does that help ? What's different about that setup as opposed to just the lowering springs ? I'm just looking to learn, I'm not really interested in actually get them for my car (well, not at the moment, anyway !).
  10. Prolex have some -35mm springs here I haven't used them personally but folk here seem to often recommend stuff from Prolex.
  11. As Parthiban said it looks like it's showing up fine now. If it still looks funny for you then it might be some sort of caching issue, e.g. your computer or ISP is caching (storing) an old version, or something like that. If you try pressing Ctrl-F5 (if you're running Internet Explorer on a PC) then it will refresh everything and that might fix it.
  12. No, sorry, what I meant was that if you have a master (whether that's a 2-button or 3-button master) then you can programme other keys. You're right that if you don't have a master then you can't programme other keys. What I was trying to say is that just because your key has 2 or 3 buttons that doesn't necessarily mean you can tell what sort of key it is.
  13. I'm not sure that's definitively true. You can programme two-button keys as masters. I think that the only way to tell for sure is to check the security light when you put the key in. Either that, or try to see if you can programme other keys with it - although this latter test isn't so good because it takes a while an/or you might not be doing right, and sometimes it doesn't work first time anyway and you need to keep trying ...
  14. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that your key is indeed a master. If it's not, you're pretty much screwed !
  15. On my 1999 IS200, when I insert a non-master key into the ignition, the security light comes on briefly. When I insert a master key, the security light does not come on.
  16. Before : After (the tape is holding the air filter in because Tom didn't have the modified airbox lid with him : I will post some more pics of the process in the JAE thread in the Club Meetings section.
  17. Glad to hear it's running well and that you didn't get into too much trouble ! Will post pics very soon.
  18. I have one make on one side of my car, and another make of tyre on the other (not my choice, it came like that). Initially I thought that was a pretty dodgy setup, but Tony at WIM had a look at them and said it was fine, because they all have the same sort of unidirectional tread pattern, and a similar amount of tread. So I imagine it depends on various factors really, if you want to swap things around.
  19. WIM are Wheels In Motion. One of their most common services discussed on these forums is to set the chassis geometry "properly" on an IS200, i.e. in a way that is far better than the original factory setup, in that it cures the premature tyre wear problem often seen on IS200s, and generally improves the handling. I had it carried out on my own IS200 and I can't recommend it highly enough. WIM do lots of other things too, but the chassis geometry set-up really is a "must have" IMHO.
  20. Well, no-one from LOC won in Show & Shine, it was a Toyota that won in the Lexus/Toyota category (how come Suzuki have their own category but we have to share with Toyota ? :duh: ) They didn't read out a full list of placings at the awards ceremony though, only the winners, so I don't know if there's any more information than that.
