  1. Love it Trouble is, it's easy for there to be a "placebo" effect where you drive more gently than before because you've got fuel saving in mind, and then you "prove" that it does work after all
  2. I've got McGard ones on mine, top quality. As you say the OEM ones are pretty dodgy.
  3. Don't buyers normally post eBay feedback soon after they've received the item, and not after having had several weeks to try the item out ? :winky: I look forward to your views on how it works once you've had a chance to try it out.
  4. Sounds like some kind of immobiliser-related problem, i.e. the car won't start for security reasons. I am sure that some of the LS experts here will be able to help you out.
  5. *ahem* With respect, are you saying that no-one can have an opinion unless they either have an LS400 or have tried this device themselves ? If it were that simple (installing a device like this), then wouldn't all manufacturers build them into their cars in the first place ?
  6. Looks great. I was going to try and get hold of one of these. Trouble is, I saw the HKS Hi-Power Silent exhaust at JAE and now I want one of those ! :D
  7. You mean the engine check light ? (kind of looks like an engine/gearbox) You can get OBD II readers remarkably cheaply these days, e.g. here. You can plug that into the car and get the diagnostic codes off it, then some of the peeps on here might be able to tell you what's wrong. An OBD II reader can easily pay for itself in one use if it is something you can fix yourself rather than having to pay a garage.
  8. My understanding from these forums was that the IS200's 1G-FE engine was an interference design, i.e. cambelt failure = expensive bill. However, Wiki reckons that all Toyota 1G engines are non-interference designs. I presume that Wiki is wrong on this ? (I know that Wiki is pretty good but can often be wrong).
  9. If you want to save on petrol, then you're probably better off putting a sponge or similar under your accelerator pedal so that you don't press it so hard ... :duh:
  10. You've already had my invaluable advice on how to post pictures on the forum though Edit - Oh, did you mean Chris's cut to you ? You'll have to sort that out with him then !
  11. You might not be able to get them aligned for RHD drive though, MoT alignment is more a case of up and down, isn't it ? You'll have to get them to point a lot more to the left, and that might not be possible without horrible stick-on beam deflectors.
  12. Thanks, PM on its way to Chris :) That's weird though, I posted this reply and it seemed to disappear, so this is a re-post. That happened to me yesterday too on another thread
  13. Found this on eBay. I wonder if these sort of things are universal or wouldn't fit an IS200 ?
  14. I think you can get them, but don't know where from. I trawled around on the Internet a couple of weeks ago and couldn't find one (other than strange light-up ones that I didn't like the look of). I'd like to get one myself because my cigarette lighter doesn't seem to fit properly, it's a bit too tight. I wonder if it's an aftermarket one due to the original having got lost ?
  15. Putting my cigarette lighter in when I'm using my phone charger in the car.
  16. I found this but there aren't any pics.
  17. Hmm, as Saraj said, that sounds like it's not a master key With a non-master, the security light comes on briefly and then goes out. With a master key, when you insert it into the ignition, the security light immediately goes out. At least, that's what it does on my IS200 and so far I've not had anyone contradict me on that. You might want to see if you can get a Lexus dealer to confirm for you (hopefully for free since it'll only take them a few seconds) whether that's the case, since it's a rather expensive job (new ECU) if you want more keys and don't have a master. Basically it looks like you're stuck with that key and won't be able to make duplicates
  18. The link won't work for anyone at the moment, it's basically full of a load of garbage, it's not a proper URL. Coolrides, can you fix it ? Or just post up the text of the URL (rather than making it a clickable link) if that's easier ?
  19. Does anyone know the part number for these centre caps please ? They're for the 11-spoke alloys that were on some later IS200s. I know it's not part number 42603-53060, which is a similar centre cap but is all-chrome.
  20. Yes thanks, they're fab :D Thanks for showing me yours :winky: Ooh err missus !
  21. Probably wouldn't have been 10 mins drive today though !
  22. Is that definitely the case on the GS ? Because it's not on the IS, a 2-button key *might* still be a master, and you can tell by putting the key into the ignition and seeing if the dashboard "Security" light goes off immediately (master) or stays on briefly before going off (non-master). The number of buttons doesn't necessarily say whether it's a master key or not. I have no idea if this is the same on the GS or not so apologies if this is irrelevant.
  23. Interesting, that's the first time I've seen an IS200 torque curve, which looks flatter than I'd imagined (although I realise the graph only starts at 2500rpm).
