  1. Bonnet vents are something a bit different so I appreciate you wanting to keep them. At the end of the day it's your car, so it's what you think that looks good that's important ! As others have said maybe they'd look even better if the mesh was different, e.g. black ? Just a personal opinion of course :)
  2. It could be a sticky calliper, that seems to be a very common problem on the IS200.
  3. I imagined that a supercharger installation would be hellishly complicated. I would never have believed that you could fit it in a field in a few hours at a car show if I hadn't seen it for myself ! Kris, I'm a real dummy when it comes to working on mechanical stuff on cars, but I reckon that even I could do a lot of that supercharger install myself. With some help from the great LOC people here I'm sure you could do it too. Or any decent mechanic would have no problem. The kit looks like it's been designed as an easy aftermarket bolt-on.
  4. The £999 model V reg may well have something fairly major wrong with it, e.g. expensive work that needs doing. So don't panic :) Prices have been hit hard by the upcoming tax changes, and now with the credit crunch that'll affect things further. Bear in mind that prices only affect you when you come to sell. So if you're keeping your car for a while then the price won't be affecting you. And even then lower prices would mean it's cheaper to buy a replacement car. Just enjoy your Lexus ! :D
  5. Yep, no problem. I bought some and they really do seem to be original, yes. They are in pretty much "as new" condition, at least the ones that I bought were. It seems these wheels were probably factory fitted and then were perhaps swapped at the dealers for some upgraded wheels before the car was sold (this is a guess, I don't know this for sure), because they don't look like they've been driven. The odd very small mark here and there but for the price they're a bargain :) Beware that they don't come with centre caps, so you'll need to source those yourselves if you want some Lexus ones. I posted a thread on this in the "Wheels & Tyres" forum here when I was having trouble finding out the correct part number (which I did find eventually and is now posted up in there).
  6. You mean like these ? As Stoney said, if they're US headlamps you may well find the beam points the wrong way and can't be adjusted enough to pass an MoT
  7. No, not for me ! Someone I know via a friend is interested in trying to become a model, e.g. modelling clothes for catalogues etc. She's around 15 I think, possibly 16 soon. She's not interested in anything dodgy, no "glamour" modelling etc, and knows there may well be lots of scams around (e.g. pay to get nice pictures taken with the promise of some work and then nothing happens). Does anyone know anything about this business and have any advice they can offer ? My friend asked me because they think (bless them) I know everything or at least have good ways of finding out (lol, how wrong can one person be ? ), but I have no clue about this. Obviously you can Google for modelling agencies and so forth but there's really no way of telling what's real and what places might be out to scam people.
  8. Because it's not just a non-OEM filter, in theory it's a high-performance air filter (it says something along those lines on the box). After an accident, if an inspector checked the car and noticed it (e.g. it was hanging out due to damage), then in theory he could say it was a non-declared performance modification (had I not told them) and then the insurance would be invalidated. The fact that when I told my insurance company they charged me for it showed that I was "right", i.e. if they had found out later then I could have been in a lot of trouble. Better safe than sorry.
  9. Prolex have one here TDI have one here There was a thread about problems with an IS200 manifold from eBay, which turned out to be an IS300 manifold. There are probably others about too.
  10. Check the sticky posting near the top of the forum, here :winky:
  11. Well, you're part of LOC now, so you know people who have got the knowledge ...
  12. ok, thought I'd share the happy ending here. I did speak to Adrian Flux, but their quote was a bit rubbish (expensive). Also confused.com's quotes weren't too good either. Got some details of Sky Insurance from the LOC Gold forums and they gave me a great deal, and they seem quite mod-friendly too (not bothered about minor stuff only about major engine upgrades etc). Another great benefit I've got from LOC :D
  13. Thanks guys & gals. What puzzled me was what was "inverted", i.e. upside-down, in these LEDs. From the pic it looks like the dome of the LED is the inverted bit, so that it ends up spreading out the light sideways. Seems to be that there are some that are claimed to be "wide angle" but aren't really, the inverted ones seem to do a better job of that.
  14. I have some spare LEDs that I was thinking of putting in my number plate lights, but now I'm thinking they probably won't be bright enough. There are so many LEDs on eBay, even with the same fitting, it's a bit confusing for my poor brain :duh: Those look good. So if I just look for T10 5W5 "inverted" LEDs on eBay then that should do the job ? What does the "inverted" mean in the name ?
  15. Hard to see because it's a bit dark and you've got your lights on, but it looks like Granite Sky, yes.
  16. No, there are plenty of others, e.g. see the ones that Prolex sell here
  17. I'm on Facebook far too much Have added a few peeps who I recognised from here :D
  18. Wozza's setup is awesome, so I'm sure he can give you some good advice ! :D
  19. Fire incident ? Is that the LED eyebrow incident at WIM ? (found it on a search) Or was there something else regarding boot LEDs ? Just want to make sure I'm not missing something that I should know about, ta.
  20. I've no idea myself, but I'm sure someone will be able to answer you soon. Have you got a charger ? I would have thought that it's worth knowing if it's going on a standard IS or if you've got engine mods.
