  1. WIM ? Their website says they do braking stuff, and you could PM Tony to ask him if it's something that they could do. Not a million miles away from Milton Keynes :winky:
  2. ok, I got a pic of mine last night when it got dark. This is with white inverted LEDs in the number plate bulb holders : Bear in mind those are just the tail lights that are on at the back. The camera has exaggerated the highlights in the exposure, so it looks them look more like the brake lights. So the "real" brightness of the number plate LEDs is less bright than it looks in the pic. They aren't as bright as they look (I'd ideally like them to be "really" as bright as they look in the pic), but I can't see there would be any MoT problem, and they do look a different colour from the normal (more yellow) bulbs.
  3. And then when you have an accident, the insurance company finds out you that have an undeclared modification, and invalidates your insurance, leaving you with a very large bill Find a modification-friendly insurance company who will cover it. EDIT - If you become a Gold member of LOC then you'll find there are several mod-friendly insurance companies who will give Gold members a discount.
  4. Great to see more pics, I look forward to following this all the way through !
  5. I could be wrong, but I think it's just the driver's side rear lights that aren't working on roundymoody's car.
  6. Polite suggestions only please ! Due to an imagination failure, I'm trying to figure out where would be a good place for my LOC stickers (both the big, wide one, and the small black ones). I think I saw that someone put one of the black ones behind their rear view mirror, on the windscreen, which seems like a nice idea because I don't think you would see it from the driver's seat (i.e. not blocking view out). I would put some of the smaller stickers in the rear quarterlights, but with my car being a Sport model I've got the Sport logo there, and would think they would look a bit odd. I guess there's the rear screen for the long one.
  7. Has the back indicator stopped working ? If so, this is why your indicators are flashing faster than usual. Yes, you should easily be able to get spare fuses at a car parts shop. But if a fuse has blown, it might be that when you put a new one in it blows again straight away or soon after, fuses don't normally just blow for no reason.
  8. There are three fuseboxes. One in the engine bay (passenger side), and one in each footwell, on the side. On the back of the cover of each it tells you which fuse does what. I am not sure but I would have thought that if you pull the fuse out it will be obvious if it is still working, e.g. if the fuse wire has burned through ?
  9. But why has it warped ? If it's because of a calliper problem, then a new disc will just warp again in time.
  10. If it's HIDs that you're after, you'd be better off just buying a HID upgrade kit (e.g. from eBay), which is dead easy to install and will be a lot cheaper than a new set of headlights. If it's halos you want though, then that's more complicated (e.g. opening up the headlamps if you just buy the halo rings). With my limited knowledge here over the past few weeks, where the headlight question has come up a lot, I don't know if there's anywhere that's been discovered yet that reliably sells HID/halo units with the correct beam pattern for RHD drive cars. If there is one, then I'm sure a lot of people would be interested !
  11. Breakthrough Engine with Advanced Mechanism System, according to Wiki.
  12. Thanks :) According to Wiki (although Wiki is sometimes wrong) it was the 4th gen 3S-GE that was known as BEAMS. On a related note, also found the BEAMS Owners Group
  13. Yeah, I meant to also add that it's a real pain getting that cover bar thingy off, you have to pull it real hard. I hate that sort of thing because I'm always sure I'm going to break something Can't wait till it gets dark now I ordered 10 of them, and have replaced my previous sidelight LED on one side with one of these inverted ones, to see how they compare. Even in the daylight I can see quite a big difference, with a lot more light coming out of the side. Just need to see how much of that is going to bounce around the reflector and come out, once it gets dark.
  14. Back to the original posting, when people refer to the BEAMS engine, is this the 3S-GE 2.0 4-cylinder engine with 207 bhp (thanks Wikipedia ! :D ) ?
  15. The light seems to come mainly out of the side of the bulb on mine, I think you need an LED that puts out a good amount of light to the side. Thanks, I've installed some LEDs that look just like that pic into my number plate holders. Just have to wait till it gets dark so as to be able to properly see how they look. Thanks to Lexus2D for the link to that article about how to get to the bulbs. In the linked article it says that the bulb holders slide into the centre and then out - that didn't work for me, they wouldn't budge sideways and had to be pulled straight out (don't know if this is model-specific, mine's an early (1999) IS).
  16. If the indicators are flashing faster than usual on one side, this is usually because one of the indicator bulbs on that side has gone (less resistance for the circuit). Don't forget to check the side repeater as well as front and back. I too would check the fuses as to why the lights aren't working. If you've had a couple of things go wrong together, I wonder if there's a short somewhere and/or water coming in ?
  17. Nope. Have a look at the thread that I gave the link for, which shows the right caps for the 11-spokes. The 5-spoke caps are different and may well look a bit odd. The 11-spoke caps don't quite fit properly on the 5-spoke wheels. I haven't tried it the other way round, but vice versa might not fit properly either, I'm not sure.
  18. Also, you can get a reader yourself to check the codes, and ask for help here (if necessary) as to what the codes mean (there's a sticky posting saying what the codes indicate). You can get standalone OBDII readers from eBay for about £30, or if you've got a laptop then you can get the necessary bits even cheaper than that.
