  1. Yep, pretty much. Check out where the needle is pointing before you turn the ignition on, it goes down to around the middle of the E.
  2. It shouldn't cost that much if you just want lowering springs rather than coilovers. e.g. Prolex do some here, or look on eBay, or whereever. There's a guide to fitting lowering springs here
  3. Sorry to hear about this Chris. Hope that the police catch up with the :tsktsk: very soon.
  4. Remember that different polishes do different things. Some have more of a filling action than others, so might be more suitable for using on CDs to try and fill in small scratches.
  5. That does sound a bit odd to me too. It could be genuine but to me she sounds too eager for someone who hasn't even seen the car yet. I think you are right to be wary.
  6. Welcome. Sounds like you're going to be busy ! :D I can't help you directly with any IS300->IS200 advice, but if you check out the online workshop manual you'll see some separate sections for the IS300 and may be able to tell from there where the parts are different.
  7. Lol they may not cover us any more as We beat them in the JAE footy competition! They gave me a good quote, but perhaps they knew I wasn't on the team :D
  8. The insurance quotes depend on a lot of other factors too like age, occupation, where you live etc. I've got 3 points (very annoying, I'm usually very careful but I was in a 30 limit when I thought it was still 40) and I'm paying £315.
  9. Maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't sound too likely to me that they'd really make a loss on your business, particularly given how easy it is to hunt around for other quotes and switch at renewal time. My guess is that even if they made a nominal loss on your particular policy, they recouped that via some sort of monthly/quarterly bonus for how many policies they could sell in that time period.
  10. If it's the factory-fit dark chrome lamps that you mean, see the sticky posting of part numbers on the main IS200 forum, and try your local Lexus dealer ?
  11. It sounds like your occupation is the main thing that's pushing the premium up. Just like there are insurance companies that specialise in, say, modified cars, are there any that might specialise in some of the more traditionally "risky" occupations ? I had a quick Google and couldn't see anything, but could there be a way of finding out via the DJ community ?
  12. I tried that with some discs (originals) that my OEM CD unit (IS200) was having trouble with. Didn't help though, I think it's the head unit It can help with some scratched discs as you say though, computer drives can be quite good at putting up with errors, and some older CD/DVD systems might be more intolerant of scratches (so making a new copy can help in that sort of case).
  13. You might want to say which wheel caps you're after, e.g. for which wheel, since there are several types.
  14. Dunno, but maybe those of us with unpainted callipers could meet up and having a mass painting meeting and leave red Hammerite all over the place !
  15. This is one of the things that I'm thinking about before doing mine, i.e. the logistics of doing it. Should I just do one wheel at a time, jacking it up as necessary ? Or should I buy some axle stands and get all the wheels off at once ? Hmm ... One extra complication is that I don't have a driveway, so will have to do it out the back of my house in a car park (which has more room than doing it in the road in the front).
  16. I know nothing about machine polishing, so can't offer direct advise. But there appear to be some pretty comprehensive guides to using different sorts of polishers over at Detailing World There are loads of people on the Detailing World forums using machine polishers, so their Tools forum could be a good place to get further advice on this.
  17. Interesting. I need to clay my car soon, and I've got some Autobalm that I'm intending to apply after. Anything that can save me some work, like not having to dry it before the Autobalm, is a good thing in my book ! Thanks for the tip :)
  18. Turn the wheels to full lock and then they'll be much easier to see and get to.
  19. A friend of mine had a visit from the Royal Mail official the other day, with an item that I'd sent to her that had been found at the flat of one of their posties along with a huge range of other stolen items. If you have problems then hopefully if you report it the Royal Mail will look into it and see if there is a pattern of items going missing in one area compared to others, and catch the person responsible.
  20. Those rear lights don't seem to have many LEDs in and don't look very bright at all.
  21. Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but you mean a year 2000 model rather than just it being a 2 litre engine, yes ?
  22. I can see posts from you at those times in this thread, post numbers 23 and 28. Can you still not see them ?
