  1. The interval printed in my service booklet in the car is 100K or 10 years (not 6). So I think that's why it wasn't changed before, even though the interval now is 60K or 6 years as you say.
  2. It is the car's first cambelt change I believe, yes. I've only had the car for a short time. I assume that the previous owner was probably operating under the instructions in the original service booklet, i.e. 100K miles or 10 years. I have already had the cambelt visually checked by Lexus, who say that it looked ok, but I'm going to change it anyway just to be on the safe side.
  3. Another one ?! Are you a member of the Magic Circle or something ? :D
  4. Yeah perhaps I should have added this Also bazgtr did say : - but the silence has been deafening ...
  5. Thanks for the replies so far. You've been kind of echoing my thinking really, i.e. that although it's some extra expense now, which is not ideal, if my water pump fails in 20K miles then I'll be kicking myself because I'll have a lot of labour cost to change it, whereas the labour cost to bung it in with the cambelt change will be negligible. I had a look at the online service manual and couldn't see anything about this. All it shows is replacing the water pump as a unit, along with a gasket (I'm assuming a new pump comes with a new gasket ?). Couldn't see anything about o-rings or a by-pass pipe, where do these fit in ?
  6. I somehow get the feeling that the tyre wear won't be even on that
  7. Don't forget to fill it up first, before you drive away with the fuel hose still in there !
  8. I'm guessing that the repair costs will be based on dealer prices too.
  9. but just wondering if the plate and username is because you're an ice hockey fan (NHL 2K). Maybe it's to do with your initials or some other reason though.
  10. I'm planning on getting my cambelt changed soon. My car has only done 51K miles, but is 9 years old. Now to change the cambelt, as I understand it all the belts have to come off and the coolant needs to be drained. So I am wondering whether to get the water pump changed at the same time. Toyota have quoted me £130-odd for a new water pump (for the part). I can't see any signs of leakage on the existing pump, so I'm wondering how long they typically last, and/or if I can get a proper water pump significantly cheaper anywhere else ? At the moment I can't see how it's worth spending that sort of money replacing something that seems to be working ok.
  11. Which Lexus model do you have ? On the IS200 there's a diagnostic interface in the engine bay but it doesn't have an OBDII connector, I'm guessing it's some sort of proprietary thing. On the IS200 the OBDII interface is inside the car, under the dash on the driver's side.
  12. I would have thought you'd have to be a Gold member to get the discount, but I could be wrong. If so, then it may well be worth joining Gold just for that.
  13. If you bought it you'll still have a link to it somewhere, e.g. in the email that told you that you've won it. Or you can do a search and pick the option that lets you search for completed items.
  14. Nice work ! :D Anyone's who's done this could probably go into business selling de-tangoed headlamp units. You'd just need a set to start you off, then get people to send you their headlamps and you send back a modified set from the previous buyer !
  15. You have my sympathy, that sort of thing would really bug me. Have you tried driving with some of the dash trim removed, i.e. to see if it is easier to hear where the noise is coming from with less stuff in the way ?
  16. Ah, ok thanks. That sounds a bit easier then if the hole isn't threaded, i.e. you don't need an exact fit. Will have to check that out soon ! :D
  17. Sorry to hear about that. However, I'm sure that one of those mobile dent removal people will be able to quickly and easily fix it for you. Perhaps someone here can recommend such a service in Ireland ?
  18. Sorry if this is a stupid question but where do I get the bolt from if the hole is a different size behind the bumper ? Sounds like an easy job as long as I can get hold of the appropriate fittings.
  19. They seem to have filed for the Japanese equivalent of "Chapter 11", but are still going in the US according to this.
  20. Did anyone try moving their horns as discussed above ? This issue is beginning to bug me myself now, think I'm going to have to move mine. Is it just a simple unscrew, move, and screw back in job ? Will I need different bolts for the holes behind the crash bar ?
  21. Is there a good reason to go for the TTE springs (e.g. price ?) if they're just re-branded Eibach springs though ? Wouldn't it be easier to shop around and get the Eibach ones in that case ? I might be missing something though.
  22. Are you sending your messages to the right person ? Just checking because I got my gold badge up very soon after messaging Steve.
