  1. To be fair, in this case (if I'm understanding the original posting correctly) it sound like Kwik-fit just messed up rather than trying to con anyone deliberately, since the original poster said they didn't want to touch the car and that a dealer should check it out.
  2. Sorry but I find it very very hard to believe/understand that Wozza and Rabster (who was the third ?) have been persistently breaking club T's & C's, considering I don't think I've seen them break them once. ok, sure there might be things posted that I don't see because they've been deleted, but then again, considering how much they help other people in the club, doesn't that count for something ? That's the thing here, these are respected members of the club, not people who the vast majority would see as, say trouble-makers. Of course I agree that the rules need to apply to everyone, but like most people here I am having an extremely hard time undertanding what they can have possibly done to deserve a one-month suspension, given how they normally behave on the forum. I have seen postings from a very small number of other members which were extremely rude in the past yet no similar action was taken against them (since they carried on posting afterwards). I can't imagine that Wozza/Rabster did anything as bad.
  3. Not sure what time I'll get there. I will get there by 10am, hopefully a bit earlier, might try and aim for 9am if I can get myself up early enough !
  4. That was the original interval (100,000 miles), that's what's printed in my service booklet that came with the car. But Lexus revised the interval downwards, presumably due to finding that 150,000 km really was on the edge of what the belt could take. It's an interference engine, so a failed cam belt will almost certainly result in a very large repair bill. You will find a few threads on here with sad stories of snapped cam belts, if you do a search. If the belt was replaced on that car at 150,000 km and it's done 50,000 km on a new belt then that should be fine, but I would then replace it after another 50K, i.e. at the new service interval of 100K km. You can always partially take the cam belt cover off to have a peek at the belt's condition. Good luck with the search and let us know how you get on !
  5. Feel for you Sam, I know you've had lots of problems
  6. As has been said, the TRD spoilers do indeed have TUV certification. As well as the paperwork there's even a little sticker to put on them with the TUV details.
  7. How much was the intake throttle going for Stav ? Do you mean this one ? It went for £125. At least two pulleys have sold too, for £30 each.
  8. Is that a non-standard font, Mr MoT-tester ? :shutit:
  9. Check out the club knowledge base here for a useful article on things to look at when buying an IS200. The cam belt needs to be changed every 100,000 km, so if it's done 200,000 km then it really needs its second change, check whether that's been done. It's always a bit of a gamble with older cars as to whether something expensive will go wrong, but that article covers the major things to look out for, and then if it's got a good service history, bearing in mind that the cars seem to be pretty reliable (touch wood !) then there's no reason why it shouldn't go on for a long time to come.
  10. Some bodies found too now, apparently (according to BBC).
  11. Video guide to RWYB here : Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load! To save a bit of time, you can download, print out and fill in the form here. Stav, I'd definitely take both bits of the licence if I was you, I imagine they'll want to see both.
  12. He's a mod on here, never heard of the guy before. He looks after the knowledge base on here, amongst other things. He does post from time to time, click on his profile and you can select his posts.
  13. Those who are planning to enter RWYB (using the quarter mile) then please make sure you remember your driving licence, apparently you need that or they won't let you on ! Details here.
  14. Was it a bulb or an LED ? You said LED but then you said it shattered, making it sound like a bulb. If it's the original bulb then it's probably been in there for ages and needs a really good pull to get it out. You should be able to get some pliers on the casing now that the bulb has shattered.
  15. I'm planning to come for the whole three days now ! :D
  16. For those who are thinking of going, Lydden Hill is at CT4 6RX. Tickets are £12 at the gate. Event is on from 11am till 5pm. Info from BDC website.
  17. This thread is six years old, I would hope he'd have solved his problem by now ! But this might be interesting to Davros, who also appears to have this problem.
  18. That's what I was going to ask too, you're not really going to have the bumper painted while its on the car are you ? I'm sure it's going to look awesome when it's done though :D
  19. I just did a quick and rough measurement on my car (fitted with TTE springs, which are supposedly the same as the Eiback sprinigs), and it has approx 15cm of ground clearance. So your car does sound very low, which would help to explain why the camber has gone so far out of range. The main question is, why on earth is it so low now ? I wonder if the wrong springs have been put on by mistake ? Might be worth checking if there is a model number on the springs themselves, e.g. maybe you've got a box which says "IS200" but the springs inside aren't for an IS200 ?
  20. Clearance where ? At the bottom of the front bumper ? Do you have a lip spoiler on there ? I wasn't suggesting that they need to come over, but if your guy was having problems with the WIM settings then they might be able to help by phone.
  21. Steve, it is sad IMHO if some of the most helpful members of the club are suspended for what many suspect to be personal reasons. Although these things are normally handled in private, in cases like this that makes things worse because people will tend to fear the worst about what actually happened and why.
  22. Nice one Phil :D I really can't wait for this meet now !
  23. oedipus, Tony may well not be willing to help you unless you join as a Gold member. How much has your ride height dropped by ? If it's around the normal ranges of drop, then I don't think it can be the springs themselves that are the problem, unless your suspension has been reassembled wrongly. It could still be damaged suspension, as I said.
  24. Probably something to do with trading on the forum ?
