  1. According to this website, the diamond-cut finish doesn't last as long as if the wheels are just painted. Don't know if that's right or not.
  2. I'm trying to decide whether to invest some money into either a new rear exhaust (HKS Silent Hi-Power) or some new ARBs. They will cost me around the same (although I'm guessing perhaps a bit more work to fit the ARBs ?). Now the exhaust is something that will look nice on the car, although isn't going to make much difference when I drive it (slightly different exhaust note and maybe a fraction more bhp but barely noticeable I guess). I'm not looking for a loud exhaust, hence the one I've picked. The ARBs will be the opposite, i.e. they're not going to be a visible change at all. But judging from previous threads on the subject, I think I will notice a big difference when going around corners. What do you reckon ?
  3. As an example of the sort of thing I mean, these nuts are being advertised on eBay as suitable for Lexus, and are M12x1.5 although don't seem to have the right seating. It does say for "aftermarket wheels" whereas mine are OEM : However, these ones look a lot closer to what's on the car at the moment : Am I right to think that the first nuts aren't right but the second ones are ?
  4. When I bought my IS200, the wheels had been refurbed, so they look nice. But the wheel nuts let them down somewhat. I guess I could take them off and try and get them nice and clean, or perhaps just buy some new ones. The OEM wheel nuts have a slightly conical shape to their base (as per my dodgy pic below), so I'm conscious of trying to get the right thing if I buy some new ones. I imagine Lexus would supply them, but I also imagine I could get generic wheel nuts cheaper off eBay or similar. Is there a specific spec for this type ? Or does the conical bit not really matter that much as long as I get the right thread type (M12 x 1.5, I think) ?
  5. My IS200 Sport seems to have lost the chrome tip add-on that I presume it came with (it's a 1999 model). Is it worth me trying to polish the tip, and will it come up well if I do that ? Or because it's an early model will is the pipe not likely to look that great even if it's cleaned up ? Has anyone tried this on the earlier cars ?
  6. There's one for sale here, is this the sort of thing that you saw ?
  7. There was a supercharged T-Sport Compressor, I believe.
  8. I don't know. But both the (very similar) foam lances from CleanYourCar and AutoBrite seem to be the top-rated ones over on the DetailingWorld forums, and there are plenty of people there who would say if they didn't think it was worth the money. Tango - yep, I've seen pics with much thicker foam :D. Reports on the Bilt-Hamber foam seem to suggest it doesn't go on as thick (Bilt-Hamber recommend a ratio of 4% on the car, which is what I used), but cleans more effectively as it disperses and runs off. I used the method detailed here to find out exactly at what rate my pressure washer used up the mixture in the foam lance, so that I could then calculate exactly how much snow foam to put in the lance.
  9. Pressure washer + foam lance + Bilt-Hamber Auto-foam = lots of fun, not really done justice by the pic below : I would have taken a picture of the clean car but it started raining !
  10. Had a look mate, couldn't find them, do you have a link ? Item number 230301495806
  11. Nauru, a tiny South Pacific island nation
  12. Digital Living Network Alliance It's basically a standard to let home entertainment devices interoperate with each other. So DLNA-certified kit should talk to each other more easily.
  13. If you fitted coilovers, then you'd have the flexibility to adjust the height of the front and back independently, to look the best as you see it. General question on this subject. As an example, Tein Super Street coilovers have a standard drop of -32mm front and -25mm rear, according to Tein's data. When it says that the adjustable range of ride height is "min 8, max -61", do you know if this is with reference to the original ride height (i.e. you could set it to ride 8mm higher than usual if you wanted), or with reference to the standard drop (i.e. you could set it at the front to -32mm +8mm = a 24mm drop from standard) ? I'm guessing it's the latter, adjustment from the initial settings on the coilovers.
  14. I imagine that blu-tack will work in getting some stuff of your car, just like washing up liquid will work to get some dirt off your car, and spit and elbow grease will help make it more shiny. But I can't see how it can realistically compete with a clay bar that is formulated for the job, especially against more long-standing and deep-seated contamination.
  15. In the UK, the MOT is when the car is three years old, and then every year after that.
  16. I like the fact that it provides advance warning of : I don't have a satnav, and I much prefer to use maps, but I would consider getting something that detects those pesky cameras.
