  1. Make sure you guys take your passports, get any necessary vaccinations, take a phrase book, etc !
  2. When Tony WIM'd my IS200, there was one part of the adjustment that he told me couldn't be done in a "normal" (not his words) way, but had to be altered by adjusting something else. It was something like adjusting a suspension/steering arm which had a knock-on effect of altering the desired parameter. I'm guessing that this is the problem your garage has got, they don't realise that they can adjust another item to alter the castor. I could be totally wrong though !
  3. According to the HIDS4U website, the RX300 uses the same HID kits as the IS200. I'm sure that you'll be able to get suitable kits for the RX300 on eBay (looks like it uses the same bulb type as the IS200, which implies the same kit). How do the headlamp bulbs plug in on the RX300, are they just a simple twist-in job ? A HID kit is a dead easy install on an IS200. You basically do the following : - unplug bulb connector from headlamp - remove halogen bulb and plug bulb connector into HID ballast (small metal box in the kit) - plug new HID bulb/connector into headlamp - fix HID ballast somewhere convenient in engine bay (e.g. using strong sticky pads) That's all there is to it !
  4. Do the TTE coilovers come with new top mounts ? I'm guessing not. If you add the pillow-ball mounts to the Tein kit, isn't that supposed to add some sort of handling benefit too (going from the Tein site) ? I don't actually understand what those mounts do, but I thought it was supposed to be "better" to have them ? Tein quote :
  5. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the TTE coilovers are only adjustable for height, whereas the Tein Super Streets are adjustable for damping force as well as height (with the option of EDFC too). That might not matter to some people, but it is one of the differences in spec.
  6. It is, see HERE at the bottom of the page According to that link, though :
  7. There is more info on the various Gold discounts on the Gold forums, although I realise that's not too helpful if you're not already a Gold member and therefore can't access them. I guess "it depends" is the answer. I got a better discount than the standard Gold discount from a Lexus dealer on one item, at the end of the day it depends on how keen they are to get your business/shift the part/etc.
  8. Don't forget to make sure that someone takes and posts pics ! :D
  9. I'd be worrying too what else might be damaged. But it's good to hear that it seems ok. I wonder what happened to it ? Perhaps someone gave a kerb a hard whack at speed and didn't realise there was any damage because it was "only" the wheel ?
  10. Nearly crashed my Lex this morning . Was taking it to ToyotaGT for a cam belt change, and there was a Peugeot 306 turning left on the other side of the road (to go in the opposite direction from me). I was coming down the road quite quickly, accelerating after a junction. But instead of turning left (as it was indicating), the Peugeot drove almost straight on, into the path of my car, ending up against the kerb (there was no "straight on" from where they were going). I slammed on the brakes, and on the very wet road I *just* stopped in time, a few inches from the other car. I have no idea what the other driver was trying to do, but it was most bizarre. They reversed back out of the way and I drove on, didn't speak to them (I was kind of shaken up anyway). Feel lucky to have avoided major damage.
  11. Agree 100%. Your tyres are the only thing keeping you in contact with the road, so I'd happily pay a bit more for a tyre that is reputed to be better in quality (handling/safety) than another.
  12. Good point, I hadn't noticed those, I was only looking at the lettering/spacing. I thought borders were ok ? I know that the Lexus logo isn't allowed though.
  13. Yep, I've asked the garage to give me the old bits back, so I'll post up a pic of it. Yeah but your car will soon be over 60K miles, shouldn't they be doing it at this service ?
  14. Aargh, what a nightmare Paradroid ! Hope you get it all sorted soon.
  15. HB4/9006 is what you need for the IS200.
  16. Recommendation and price. Recommendation first, and as long as the price is ok I'll probably go with those (and see how cheaply I can get that recommended model of tyre). If the recommended model is ridiculously expensive everywhere, then I'll probably go for another recommended model that I can get at a better price (I find it unlikely that I'll only be recommended just one type of tyre, from memory there are several that LOC members recommend on here for the IS200).
  17. I think that should be fine though. You've got a bigger space between the 3 and the X than the other letters (so the spacing is ok), and there's no rule as far as I know about how long a number plate must be, it's fine to shorten it if you want, as long as you're using the correctly-sized lettering/font.
  18. You may as well if the pump is getting old, since you have to take all the drive belts off to change the cam belt, and then it's a very quick job to change the water pump at the same time. If you don't do the water pump, there's a good chance it will fail before the cam belt needs changing again, which will be a big job (i.e. replacing just the water pump on its own). My car has done 52K miles and is 9 years old. Getting the cam belt and water pump changed tomorrow (even though the water pump looks ok visually), also doing the bypass pipe/seals at the same time (which are showing signs of a slight leak).
  19. It's 60K miles or 6 years, so you shouldn't need to change yours yet. If you're concerned about it, get a garage to do a quick visual check of the belt.
