  1. Just checked and this is exactly what it says in my owners manual (1999) too. Do later versions say something different ?
  2. What sort of external aerial do you have on the car. Is it the OEM one ? Some people have reported poor reception when using the stubby fin-type replacement aerials.
  3. I second the recommendation to get WIM to do it. They have all the latest equipment to do your tracking and full geometry if you want it, and they will be able to set it a lot more accurately than you can with a piece of wood and a ruler (e.g. when they were doing mine, you could see the readings on the computer varying slightly with no-one touching the wheels - Tony said this was the effect of the wind blowing on the sensors ). I have no idea on the technicalities but I'm sure Tony will be able to tell you why there's no need to take readings with the wheels in different rotational positions. WIM also look like they're a pretty short trip for you - Chesham !
  4. Yeah that sounds like one of the drive belts (not cam belt) slipping to me too.
  5. :o I always thought it was the bumper ! Ah well, thanks ! :D
  6. According to the online workshop manual page here , the first press of the button sets the deadlocks and the alarm, and a second press turns off the movement sensors. Usually this manual has separate sections when any features have changed later on, and it doesn't have a separate section for this bit.
  7. Where did you buy the car ? Is there a possibility that the previous owner (or someone connected to the previous owner) still has a key ?
  8. Yep probably would have been cheaper at a dealer. About forty-something pounds plus postage, they're all painted.
  9. Might be worth getting a quote. For example, Sports Grilles are quite inexpensive at the dealers, they're more expensive on eBay !
  10. Don't worry, I'm not about to try starting up a metal polishing business armed with a Dremel ! Anything that can save a bit of elbow grease is good news for me ! Will try it out and see how I go.
  11. I would have thought it would perhaps blow some sort of fuse if you tried to jump start it the wrong way round like that. Anyone here know ?
  12. When you say it was "jump started the wrong way" before, what exactly happened ? Why did it need jump starting, was the car ok before that, and what was the "wrong way" ? Did it start at all with the jump start ?
  13. When you say it won't start, exactly what happens ? Does nothing happen whatsoever when you turn the key ? Do you get a click but nothing happening ? Does it turn over (slowly or properly ?) but not fire ? Do the dash warning lights all come on as normal when you turn the key ? Please give us a bit more info.
