  1. The dealer might not have made her any other keys, but it wouldn't have stopped her making her own copies (e.g. using instructions from this forum, via an auto locksmith or some other method). I'm not saying this is particularly likely, but just because the dealer doesn't know about it, doesn't mean there can't be another key somewhere.
  2. Yeah you should be able to get him through the Prolex website/store.
  3. I don't know. But I'm guessing that in the battery systems, since there's a way to charge the battery via braking or whatever (kinetic energy being translated into electrical energy), then the same system can perhaps be deployed in reverse to translate the electrical power back into kinetic energy via the driveline. Effectively the drivers are going to have a "boost" button their steering wheels to use the KERS energy, so it could potentially make things a lot more unpredictable and interesting.
  4. I used ToyotaGT for my recent cam belt and water pump change. If you don't mind travelling out that far, then I'd recommend them too.
  5. I don't know what sort of symptoms you'd see in terms of temperature etc, but maybe someone else here can help ? Also see this thread, which shows a leak (in post number 4) around the bypass pipe and o-rings. The water pump is about £100 from somewhere like CheapToyotaParts (bit more from Lexus), but the "problem" is that you need to take all the drive belts etc off to get to it, so there would be a fair bit of labour cost involved to replace it (which is why it's a good idea to replace it as a precautionary measure when you're replacing the cam belt, since the extra labour is virtually nothing if you're doing all that). No, I had it replaced by ToyotaGT. They're a trader on this forum, look down the list of forums and you'll see their own one, with a link to their website.
  6. It won't be a help for servicing, but if you're near to Watford then WIM (Wheels in Motion) aren't a million miles away from you. You might have seen other posts mentioning their geometry setting service, which could potentially work wonders on your car's handling and stop any premature tyre wear problems (on the edge of the tyre) that you might have experienced in the past.
  7. I recently got my cam belt changed, so decided to get my water pump changed as a precautionary measure. I was glad I did though, because although it looked fine from above, it was actually leaking slightly at the bottom. Pics in this thread (at the end). The Toyota long-life coolant is pink in colour. If that's what's in your car (which is recommended), then it's pretty easy to spot if the water pump has been leaking because you'll get pink deposits around whereever it's leaking. The bypass pipe and o-rings by the pump are another common source of leakage (and another recommended thing to change if you're having to take the thing that far apart anyway). If you've got white scale around your pump then I wonder if you haven't got the "proper" coolant in it ?
  8. Whereabouts in London are you ? If you can be more specific, then someone here might be able to recommend an independent Lexus specialist who is not too far away from you. Although as Bazza said, for a straightforward service there's nothing particularly specialised anyway, perhaps just things like making sure they use the proper Toyota coolant if they're changing that, etc.
  9. Cool, glad it might help you. Yeah, I'm a right numpty when it comes to mechanical stuff, so if I can change my plugs, anyone can ! As for new coil packs, you could try getting a quote from somewhere like CheapToyotaParts (I got my water pump from them recently).
  10. Sorry if this seems like nit-picking, but Wozza has got IS250 wheels. Your pic seems to show 11-spoke IS200 alloys ?
  11. I posted a walkthrough (with pics) of how to change the spark plugs here. You have to remove the coil packs to change the plugs, so that walkthrough will also show you how to change the coil packs. Spark plugs are an easy job to change, I did it and I'm not much good at mechanical stuff !
  12. You may well know already, but bear in mind that your car will fail the MoT with no cat fitted. Not specifically because of the lack of a cat, but it'll probably fail the emissions test. So if you do have one of these you'll have to swap it at MoT time, which could be a bit of a pain.
  13. It's not what I did at the time, but if I were buying some HIDs now, I'd just get the cheapest kit I could find on eBay. I don't think there's much to choose between them. How bright are those in reality ? I never use my front (OEM) fogs, they seem to be pretty useless (I don't really understand what the point of them is for visibility purposes, as opposed to just looks), so I'd consider something like this. ok, so I could get HID fogs, but I don't think there would be that much point with HID dipped beams already (and the option for HID main beams too).
  14. Good news Dan. I'm still a bit concerned though, about what made your discs warp in the first place, and whether this could happen again to the new discs ?
  15. Let us know how you get on. If Ad-Aware can't shift it, there are other similar programs out there that you can try.
  16. I'm sorry to say that this is no big suprise. Sorry that you've had to learn this the hard way. Just put it down to experience, and if something sounds too good to be true in future, then give it some careful thought, it probably isn't true ! :winky:
  17. Yeah it's malware/spyware/etc. Get your nephew to run a malware/spyware/adware scanner, something like Ad-Aware, and hopefully that will get rid of it.
  18. CAR Magazine have recently acquired an IS-F on long-term test. They've put an initial report in the December 2008 issue of the magazine. Basically, they like it so far, apart from criticising the ride, where they feel there isn't enough suspension travel. In due course I imagine there will be updates on their website as well as in the mag.
  19. The eBay kit that I provided the link for comes with red bulbs :winky:
