  1. Yeah, that's kinda what I was getting at. You said you had no problems with your shocks, but it could be that your shocks had been replaced and so weren't that old anyway. Just that if people are thinking that lowering springs will be cheaper than coilovers, then they might well be if their shocks are still good, but there might be less of a difference than they think if they have to end up buying new shocks anyway.
  2. Interesting. Mine locks at either 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock, it simply won't do so at 12 o'clock. I'm not particularly bothered about it, more curious really. is300_dino, will yours definitely not lock at any position ? Have you tried to see if it will lock at other positions to 12 o'clock ?
  3. How old are your shocks ? Surely not still the original ones ?
  4. Some members have previously reported problems after installing lowering springs, e.g. finding that their shocks were not in good order and so they got a terrible ride after installing the springs. Obviously with coilovers you don't get this problem since you're installing new shocks at the same time. I'm certainly not trying to say that lowering springs are no good, but you might want to bear in mind the mileage of your car/age of your shocks.
  5. I've noticed the same thing on my IS200. To engage the steering lock I have to turn the wheel 90 degrees from centre, in either direction. The steering lock will not engage with the wheels straight (and the steering wheel straight). Does everyone have this ? Or if your steering lock engages in the straight-ahead position, does it also only engage another 180 degrees from this ?
  6. I've wondered that too. White looks great in the US but IMHO not so great over here. I wonder if the strength of sunlight has something to do with it ?
  7. ok, but as Wozza said you can't just get one new one because (unless you're very lucky) the key will be different, so you'll have to replace them all with a new set. Or you could carry two keys, but that sounds like a right pain to me.
  8. I think it's illegal for a speedo to under-read, which is why they are set to over-read so as to be on the safe side.
  9. Prob won't be able to stay for that long, but I'll be there ! :D
  10. No, sorry, not quite. Those caps are the right width but are too deep, so will stick out slightly - which looks fine from a distance, but ugly up close. I've tried it myself. You *might* be able to cut them down to make them fit perfectly, but I didn't try that so can't guarantee it.
  11. If you think that the car is currently "as slow as a boat" then I don't think that removing any or all of the cats is going to make any difference to that.
  12. Yeah, I've got model 21156, I think that's about the closest to the shape of the OEM nuts. They're special order from Halfords (not normally in stock), or try eBay, online sellers etc.
  13. You can have my old set of four for the cost of the postage if you like (or if you're coming to the Ace Cafe meet next month, I can give them to you there). I replaced them with a McGard set. To be honest you'd be much better off going off with a new set of McGard nuts. The OEM ones aren't very secure and are quite fragile (the pins in the key could easily break off one day, e.g. probably at the side of the road in the rain when you're trying to change a flat tyre).
  14. You mean the TTE "black box" that piggy-backs on the ECU ? Stav has done a great posting on some of the options here
  15. Ahh, it's so nice to have a bit of romance on the forum :winky:
  16. Dunno. But you could buy the kit and then sell the filter on eBay ? Or sell what it is that you've got already and just buy the kit from Prolex ?
  17. Good for you Mr Mole, well done, we all love our shiny bits ! :D
  18. If I was you, I'd be reminding the insurance company that I'd be sueing them for damages if I got stopped by the police unnecessarily because they hadn't updated the database. I would bet that would make them get their act together.
