  1. I hate to say this, but I think you're going to be in trouble If you've got a recovery partition then that will be designed to be used from XP. If you haven't got any XP install discs or recovery discs, then I'm not sure it's going to work. I wouldn't have thought you could boot from that recovery partition (since I wouldn't think it's a proper XP installation as such), but I hope I'm wrong !
  2. Tein publish the spring rates for their coilovers, if you want to compare with others. I guess it would be useful if the spring rates for the OEM setup was around somewhere ? Check the Tein data here. Even though I know very little about the subject, I can see that the spring rates are the same for the Basic and Super Street coilovers, but firmer for the Mono Flex.
  3. I'm sure all IS200s come with a light tint as standard. Pretty much all cars from all manufacturers do. It's just that the Sport has darker-tinted rear windows.
  4. Pretty sure that seller used to charge a lot more. Wonder if they've been finding a big drop in sales with the cheap ones from the Far East ?
  5. It's always been advertised as a penetrating oil though, e.g. here ? It certainly seems to work at easing rusted-up items, so surely it must have some penetrating qualities ?
  6. I think those are the standard Lexus recommendations, and were superseded by what came out of WIM ?
  7. 35psi is the recommended pressure, I believe (assuming they were inflated when cold to that pressure). But being worn in the middle does sound kinda like over-inflation
  8. What pressures are you using ? How many miles have you done on the tyres since new ? You're right to check/set the pressures when the tyres are cold.
  9. Whoooosh ! That was the sound of this thread going right over my head !
  10. Did this just suddenly start happening one day ? Had there been any work carried out on your car around the time it started ?
  11. You said it was fine after your drove it, but after a few hours it was bad again. It's more a matter of the battery holding its charge, rather than getting it charged up. If it is losing charge after just a few hours of being in the cold, that doesn't sound like a healthy battery. Should be easy to get it checked out at a garage.
  12. Thought I'd add something to this, since I just read on another forum about someone who had a similar problem. It turned out to be a neighbour's wireless doorbell which was low on batteries. When the doorbell had new batteries installed, the problem went away ! Might be worth checking for anyone who's got this sort of problem.
  13. Wow that looks like a serious engine ! Seems pretty cheap too, though I guess that's just because it's early in the auction, and I guess it could go up a lot if anyone starts bidding on it.
  14. Tinting your fronts is an invitation to be pulled by the police. Remember that your windows already have a slight tint, so applying an extra tint will almost certainly put them over the legal threshold of what's allowed on the front (as well as possibly obscuring your visibility).
  15. It sounds to me like your battery is knackered. If batteries stay in a low state for a while they further degrade, so it's kind of a viscious cirtcle. The fact that your battery was ok after a drive but then after a few hours in the cold it was bad again, sounds like it's not holding its charge.
  16. I wonder if those who aren't booked in for the Xmas do can still turn up early on and meet for drinks in the bar ?
  17. What time is the meal set for ? Or did I miss it somewhere ?
  18. I presumed (so could be wrong) that it was some sort of reinforcement seeing as it's down at foot (kicking) level ?
  19. I'm no expert on this, but I thought it was generally worth getting the higher-speed ones, especially for higher-end cameras. Don't buy one from a camera store though, they'll be much cheaper online !
  20. Fancy coming down to the Ace Cafe in London next Saturday ?
  21. The IXUS range are pretty small, so probably would appeal to your friend's gadget-loving nature.
  22. There's a big thread all about the Grom stuff here. Don't know if there's anything specific about model years in there, but it would be worth a look, if you haven't done so already.
  23. My impression is that the main point of meets is to meet up with other members. Whether your car is modified or not doesn't matter. Might be bog-standard or might be massively modded, or anything in between. As Aido said the trouble is you might well see something on someone else's car that makes you want to do the same to yours, so it can be expensive ! :D In the small number of meets that I've been to so far, I've certainly not found anything other than friendly Lexus-owning (or Lexus-liking) folk. I've certainly never seen any kind of competitive element in terms of someone making out that their car is better than yours, or anything like that. A great way to put some faces to names, as you say, find out who is behind that keyboard !
