  1. The article in the Knowledge Base on buying an IS200 mentions ignition barrel problems. Don't know if this is the same thing.
  2. Check out the online workshop manual here, there are some adjusters on the back of the headlight. Specifically this section shows you how to adjust them.
  3. There's always someone who has to go and spoil it, isn't there ?
  4. 501w /T10/W5W Some of the LEDs are very dim when used for this sort of thing though, there was a previous thread on this subject, I will try and find it. Edit - found it, this thread has pictures etc
  5. I see that it doesn't actually call it a TTE front bumper on that eBay listing. I wonder if it's actually a replica and not the real TTE deal.
  6. Did you try the connections the other way round ? You can probably plug that black connector into the ballast in two different ways. The HIDs will only work one way round, and maybe you connected both ballasts the same (and wrong) way round. Try it the other way to see if it makes any difference.
  7. I have an OEM exhaust tip for the IS200. However, the chrome has been partially eaten away by some sort of weird black stuff. Originally I thought I could clean it up myself, but it looks to me like it could do with re-plating. I could of course just buy an aftermarket exhaust tip, but I imagine the quality won't be great and of course it won't fit perfectly like the OEM tip. Does anyone have any ideas on how much it's lilkely to cost me to get it re-plated ? Would I be able to give it to a company, then they sand-blast it (or similar) to prepare it, and then re-plate it ? How could I be sure that the new chrome is likely to last given the application on a hot exhaust ? Any advice appreciated, thanks :)
  8. I can't remember the guy's name, I did ask him . I don't think he's a regular poster on here, perhaps someone who had a lengthier conversation with him might be able to say more ?
  9. I recommend the Bilbery cleaner. It won't harm your alloys but you can use it at a more concentrated strength if you need to for those stubborn stains. Having said that, it's very effective even at more diluted ratios vs brake dust.
  10. I haven't really checked out a large range of readers, but I bought a standalone reader like this one (£24.99 plus £4.99 postage). For the price I thought it was pretty good. Not sure if you're thinking of a standalone one or a laptop-connected one. There are some generic fault codes and some that are manufacturer specific. It doesn't really bother me with the theory (not had to put it into practice yet) of writing down the fault code(s) and then looking it(them) up on these forums (or others).
  11. Just got back home. It was an absolutely excellent night, very enjoyable indeed, lots of fun, had a great laugh. So nice to see Tony (what a gent he is) and his charming wife there, along with everyone else. Big thanks to Johnboy for organising the whole thing, top job ! :D Hope that Mrs Mole and Nicola get back home ok tonight on the coach all the way to Aberdeen/Peterhead . There's dedication for you ! :D I will post up my pics when I get a chance to upload them, might not be till Monday since I have a pretty busy day today. Roll on the 2009 LOC Xmas bash ! :D
  12. Brilliant meet, good turnout, great to see all the cars and chat to people. I took quite a few pics and will post them up when I get a chance to get them all uploaded (might not be till Monday since I have a quite busy day today and only just got back from the LOC Xmas bash). Can't wait for the next one, hope this is going to be a regular event now ! :D
  13. Make sure you reset the ECU after you install the K&N filter, then it can re-learn how much air is coming into the engine etc (should be a better flow with the K&N installed). You will probably notice a slight improvement in fuel economy and a very slightly different engine sound. Whether you will notice any performance improvement is debatable, since any increase is likely to be very small.
  14. I seem to remember reading an article about Synctoy that pointed out that it seemed to have some flaws. Will see if I can dig out the article.
  15. Don't know, but bear in mind the BMW will originally have been designed for LHD. Sometimes pedals are in slightly dodgy positions in RHD versions of LHD cars. At least with Japanese cars they're designed from the outside for RHD.
  16. Doh ! Fingers crossed that your bonnet starts behaving so that you can make it tomorrow Aido !
  17. So is James saying they have previously done this twice before for the IS200, i.e. 3S-GTE swap ? I know that they get customers from other countries, as well as all over this country.
  18. That's a Celica/MR2 engine. I'm guessing that ToyotaGT have quite a lot of experience with this engine, whenver I've been there, there are always stacks of MR2s there and a Celica or two (or three). Sounds interesting and ToyotaGT are just down the road from me (well, not literally, but they're very near). I look forward to hearing how this goes !
  19. Looks like the original poster edited his question, when Gord replied (see quoted text) he was asking for "firing position" but then changed it to "firing sequence".
  20. What sort of problem are you getting ? It's fine for me.
  21. Sounds like it's worth getting the emissions test done again, this time with the car well warmed-up beforehand.
  22. Just cleaned my car. It looks lovely now. I'm sure it will be a different matter by the time it gets to the Ace Cafe though !
